The first KOF was held in AOF 2, not in Fatal Fury.

in the original timeline it was takuma under geese s orders, when fatal fury was added tothe plot it became geese

I think 3 was intended to be the final one in the entry, they got backlash from the 2 games for having poor artwork so they made the sprites in 3 smooth and big pretty much (I think it messed up their budget abit too).

Art of fighting invented staple fighting mechanics. SNK was always thinking outside of the box. Also At Of Fighting 3 plays pretty well.

Street Fighter 2 re-releases stealing the idea of "meters being necessary for moves", but swapping specials for "supers." Street Fighter 2's devs were absolute nuts by association!

The timeline in KOF games was changed in order to suit the occasion, therefore it differs from that of AoF/FF
