This content is great for those of us who nerd out over totk vanilla vehicle design. It's certainly helped me understand why small wheels underperform sometimes and how to avoid it. I've gotten back to preferring to use these things for travel over the large wheels, and using large wheels mainly for combat builds now.
Right with big wheels you either have low speed or you need to add certain tech, the best of which is rather complex. They can be fun and I've showcased various big wheel builds on the channel but small wheels are so much simpler and contrary to their own in-game description have decent performance so long as the things shown in this video are kept in mind and you avoid much weight. You could easily add a u-block to this to add decent protection while not losing too much in the performance department, and if you want you can add a fan to further help climbing. This also adds minor gliding for softer descents if you don't mind the extra battery drain. And yeah, speed's not generally an issue for combat builds unless you're trying to outrun a Lynel.
I find it funny that they made it so that wheels tilted out made it more drifty. Because, in real life, drifters do that to their cars for more grip/friction. Also, I've considered doing small angle nudging on small wheels to try and get past them getting stuck on terrain. 45 degrees seems like it's too much as the back will get stuck but front will get stuck without some tilting.
It's a nice build though a bit beyond the scope of this video. I could have another one on what you can add TO wheels for various tricks and that would be a good candidate for it but I need more tricks.
I've never been that fond of small wheels. I know this might sound weird, but they're too fast. Same with Big wheels, which are too slow. Regardless, I still build with Big wheels, like the idea of having better handling on difficult terrain. Still, almost annoying not having one perfect wheel to rely on.
At least big wheels can be stacked and such so there's a degree of choice for speed and climbing ability. Small wheels don't have that but you can still control speed via weight so whereas they have a higher top speed, that is capped and unstackable but you can slow them down.
I don't know if u remember the time when I used to chat with u about one fan builds some time ago. It doesn't matter if u don't. Long story short, you've earned yourself another subscriber. You were quite helpful during that time. It's the least I could do.
I do remember though I'm not sure how as I'm terrible with names. Always nice to hear that the channel is doing the job I want it to do! There's no compulsion though, I change games at will and my Tears of the Kingdom focus going on this long (with some rabbit trails) is unprecedented.
@@KingX my focus on TotK will remain for some time, as I have an interest in pulse beam emitters, and have recently got them to work. However, it's still requiring some work to get them working properly. If not built correctly, they either won't fire, or will continuously fire. Also, no need to worry, I'm not terribly good with names myself.
@@MrArcadia2009 There are multiple methods. I've covered some in the past but haven't kept up with new findings. evanthebouncy, a pioneer of weapon tech has done a lot of study on pulsing.
It was through his videos that I learned to use one specific style of it, and it worked, for a time. But he is almost a little too technical, for my liking.
