One time in college a friend and i accidentally activated the fire alarm of the photography area. There was this switch that honestly didn't look so different from a regular light switch so we pushed it and boi was it loud, we immediately turned it off and ran away. The thing is, there were stories about a ghost girl in there, it was around halloween/day of the dead (they had put an ofrenda/altar for her) and no one saw it was us, so everyone was panicking
Considering my classmates or atleast the boys like scary stuff they wouldve rushed over there to try and find the ghost xD While me on the other hand: Terrified Shaking Almost fainting Yes I am aware that I am a coward
I'm glad I don't go to art school... Never mind CUZ I STILL WANT TO ik I'm clumsy but.... I don't think I've ever cut myself with a knife or scissors except the time I cut my own hair even then it was only my hair
Damn. Tell that to my kindergarten teacher who immediately picked me up after I fell over on my chair with a pair of scissors, accidentally slicing my hand, and running my bleeding hand under the sink on full blast.
I can relate to the portfolio one for sure! Last year, while I was waiting for my ride on campus, the wind was picking up so hard that my portfolio was literally dragging me off the ground. People around me where just looking at me fight against the wind and portfolio,a sight to see I guess xD Finally, the wind suddenly died off and I got smacked so hard by the portfolio I tripped and fell down against the fence. At that moment, my ride arrived and I quickly got up, picked up my stuff, and got in to a ride full of explaining and embarrassment... The wind is not an artist's friend I quickly learned xD
wow since we're sharing embarrassing art stories let me share my bit!! so in seventh grade i was in my school's art club. one day we were leaving to go home, and i ended up having to wait by the door since too many people were going out at once (like when a funnel gets stopped up). since i was tired, i leaned on a table next to me and put my hand down on it, quickly realizing how cold and almost wet it felt. i looked down and discovered i had stuck my hand on a canvas that was painted over completely in fresh white paint. i panicked, so i slapped my hand down on the side of the table to get the paint off. my friend behind me saw and looked with wide eyes as i suddenly bolted out of the room with the rest of the class and to the bathroom. the next day, my teacher asked us if the room looked different. when no one said anything, she pointed to the table and an empty space on the wall saying "my painting is gone and there’s a handprint right there!" i pretended to look shocked as she said someone must have stolen it, and for the whole week after, i faced dozens of people talking about the missing painting. someone even suggested going to the forensics teacher (which made me fear for my life). soon after, the painting turned up (it had fallen behind some cabinets), but the teacher still has no idea that i, one of her best students, left the handprint on her table.
In year 13, I was doing an A Level Textiles mock. I was on the sewing machines doing some embroidery, but the machine kept on unthreading. I tried grabbing the thread but I accidentally dropped my foot on the footpedal and I sewed into my finger. It felt like a paper cut but it looked worse. The needle broke and was stuck in my finger. My first thought when I looked at my finger was "I'm gonna be on TV!" because the nearest hospital where I live is where a documentary called 24 Hours in A&E is filmed. I had to go to Accident & Emergency, but lo and behold, the cameras weren't there. I was extremely disappointed. The needle only broke my nail and I had to wear this weird finger sock for a week.
Simstastic Papercuts still hurt though I did the same with a knife whilst cooking with my class with my least favourite teacher but I had to go to the nurse. Mine hurt a lot
When i was in sixth grade, i was SUPER selfconsious about my art. (I mean, i still am, but its not as bad as it was in 6th grade :p) well one time, when i was going to the art wing of my school, i tripped on this weird platform my art class had outside of the wing and when i fell, the folder filled with my unproprtionate, terrible anime art was scattered everywhere. It doesnt seem that bad but since that school was filled with really bad kids (plus i have really bad anxiety and depperession :/) i was scared everyone would laugh at me. So i immediately started tearing up while trying to pick up all my art and art supplies. I eventually just broke down and had to go to the office to be taken home. (Fun Fact: my anxiety was so bad in that school, i had to be taken home on an average of every other week and im currently being homeschooled!)
Same for me!! My anxiety was so bad I had to be homeschooled. What did it for me was the beginning of 10th grade, I was in this computer class where we had to photoshop our faces on a person standing next to our favorite celebrity for an assignment. My teacher took pictures of us with his camera and uploaded it onto our computer in the computer lab. When he uploaded my disgusting face on my computer it took up the entire screen! So everyone walking by could have a clear view of all my insecurities. I panicked and instinctively scrambled to cover my picture with both hands from prying eyes, while my teacher was laughing hysterically at my attempts for some reason. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't shrink the picture. And if that wasn't bad enough, my teacher let random students pick up his camera to scroll through all the photos of everyone. Looking, commenting, judging, and laughing to themselves. I begged him to let me not do the assignment but he said I'd fail if I didn't. That very day I told my dad I'm homeschooling and idec that he got mad and screamed at me for it. I remembered crying alot that day and wanting to kms.
Both hot and cold water are good for cuts, just don't use both of them on the same cut, choose only one. The best option for a bleeding cut though is to apply firm pressure on to it, that will stop the bleeding far better than water.
I did it while I was being an idiot in like 6th grade while trying to cut an entire stack of like 30 sheets of computer paper with a rotary cutter for fabric... I almost sliced off the tip of my thumb so that sucked but at least I was at home and not at school 😅
When I was 5, my uncle was digging a well in my backyard for a charity, and I really wanted to help, but my mom didn't want me to cuz she thought it'd be dangerous, but I kept insisting, so she let me, but she strictly told me to avoid anything sharp. So, here I was, my 5 year old self, digging with my uncle, when suddenly a glint of sunlight catches my eye. I walk over to the source of the sheen, and crouched down to it. It looked so enticingly smooth that my 5 year old instincts kicked in and I knew I just HAD to rub it. So I gently caress the suface of the object with my index finger. Only for it to start gushing blood. I screamed as loud as I could and started crying as nearly every adult available rushed to the scene. Turns out, I cut myself almost down to bone on a piece of glass.
Erika Hi One time we were making paper snowflakes in class but since the paper was so thick I had to press really hard with the knife so I accidentally broke the knife and got a cut on my finger (it wasn't so bad though) It was a little awkward later that day when I saw somebody showing the broken knife to the whole class and teacher (and me too kind of) like "wtf happened to this knife"
I did one where i had really sharp cutting knife because i was cutting an apple. The apple juices was going everywhere, knife slips and i slice down my finger
I went to a graphic design school, and for every project we had to mount a printed out version on this black board, and we had to cut off all the white edges the printer left, and we had to do this with an x-acto knife, the first project we had to do this for (like the purpose of the project was to teach us how to mount because that would be so important in our careers as graphic designers) my friend cut the tip of his finger off. it wouldnt stop bleeding, i had to perform first aid. this wouldnt have been so bad if it werent like 10 min before the project was due. Someone else had to finish mounting the board so he wouldnt get a grade deduction, and his project ended up getting to class before he did because we were still in the bathroom trying to stop the bleeding. and now the students dont have to do mounting anymore because the school realized that no one outside of the school did it
* has 5 cuts from her last art class on the left hand. * * whistles innocenntly * No, I didnt played around with the paper cutter thing... what are you talking about? * cough *
Oh my gosh, that’s really weird...just a few days ago a girl in my class had one of those alarm things on her backpack and it went off and freaked everybody out. We also thought it was the fire alarm at first but then she told us what it was. I bet she could totally relate to how you felt.
Wait you went to school in Alberta!!! That’s so cool! I also happen to live in Alberta. :) it always brightens my day to find out that someone who content I love also comes from the same place as me.
That 3rd story reminds me of the time when I was in 6th grade and I had just gotten a thing to make me "hear quiet things" from a spy set, and it started to screech really load during a test because it picked up some noises. I had forgotten to to turn it off-
#notification squad! *the first time I ever got to say this* :> love u Lavendertowne! I never clicked on a notification this fast xD the title just sounded so funny. Edit: 0 dislikes. I am satisfied
I also had a thing happen to me similar to the cut story... one day in the middle of class my nose started bleeding out of nowhere, and this was the worst nosebleed I have ever had in my life. It was bleeding so much and I was really embarrassed, so I tried to just cover it with my hand and ask to go to the bathroom without anybody noticing. But that didn’t work out, there was so much blood that when I asked the teacher if I could go to the bathroom she freaked out and the whole class started staring at me. So I can understand how you felt.
I got an X-shaped luggage strap for my portfolio bag so I could wear it like a backpack. It also meant I had to walk sideways through doorways and my classmates would have to dodge like the wind if I decided to turn around quickly, BUT IT WORKED.
Lol evacuating in my school would never work. When there's a fire drill, there's just a long line to one exit, and I never get through it in time. So if there really was a fire Id be toasted!
The paper cutting one really hit home for me. My foot is actually in pain right now just remembering it! We used to have about 3 acres of land that sat next to the woods. It wasn't straight up wilderness, every now and then you could just faintly hear someone playing the sax or clarinet on the other side of the woods, but it was still pretty dense when you consider the rest of the area (town and such). We actually had to stop going into the woods a couple years before we moved because there were coyotes that had taken up roaming there. In any case! I divided up our property into three parts of what I considered each 'acre'. Horribly inaccurate. There was the acre along the woods and also where out house sat, there was the acre of pretty open land (literally one apple tree and the pirate ship-esque swing set my dad built us), and finally the acre with my mom's garden and the garage. Which was detached and at the end of our driveway, only useful for the vintage car my dad had (he inherited the family's chrysler dealership. I miss that place, haha!) our bikes and a whole lot of yard work/gardening stuff. It was like walking into an abandoned hardware store (it was messy as all hell). There was a teardrop driveway between the acre with the woods and the acre with my mom's garden. With three acres comes A LOT of trees, and therefore, A LOT of leaves. What did we do with them? After we raked them, we'd get them in the tractor, then our dad would dump them in the woods. We had our own supply of mulch/compost! One year, my sister and I were assigned to loading up the wheelbarrow with the decomposed leaves and take them to the garden where my mom and brother were spreading it along with other work that needed to be done there. I was using a pitchfork to do this. Great. Fine. Well, up until we finished filled the wheelbarrow. I told my sister I'd wheel it over. I stabbed the pitchfork in the ground and walked over to it. Well. I tried to. I instantly fell onto my hands and knees. There was a moment of confusion, I hadn't realized what had happened. It wasn't until I went to get back up that I moved my foot back and it came out of shock. I put one of the tines in my foot! Luckily it was old and blunt, it hadn't gotten to the bone. *Just my artery*. While my sister, who was known to over-exaggerate my injuries to our mother, ran to get help, I was there screaming bloody murder. It wasn't until she told her it was bleeding like a fountain that our mom picked up the pace! That's one of my best stories to exemplify my all around bad luck xD Just a little extra bit; I wasn't taken to the hospital until a few days later when my nurse aunt said it was starting to look a little gangrene-y. And even then it was just the clinic we went to. Good times, good times.
For future reference with carrying portfolios, try to slip both of your arms into it and bring the straps straight up your shoulders to your neck. You might have to hold that, but it might help share the weight between your shoulders
Hi LavenderTowne I am a huge huge fan of you I love you are an inspiration for me 💗 okay I wanted to ask you if you going to do new comics cause I read your 2 comics recently and I loved them I was soooo sad that I finished them in just 2 hours ''I wanted more from my fav writer'' (this is what I said when I finished to read them😢)
I cut my hand open with one of those blades, as well.. .but mine happened at work and I had to go to the er because a fountain of blood went into the air like something out of a cartoon. I ended up being rushed to the ER because I had to get stitches. The flashbacks are horrifying. Thank goodness it was not my drawing hand. Interesting to know I watch an artist who has gone through bad cuts too :')
Once i was in class (i think it was the 2nd week of school) And my phone started ringing *really* loud, and my ringtone was pretty annoying and embarrassing. But my first thought wasnt "oh no my phone is ringing!" It was "Oh hey cool someone has the same ringtone as me" And it kept ringing for a few minutes, and the class had stopped at that point because everyone was checkin their phones to see where it was coming from. Then I had the realization "o shit its coming from my phone" and everyone is staring at me as i quietly just reach into my bag.. And turn it off. *anxiety level 100*
My art class in highschool (this year and last year) the art teacher is like a really chill grandpa. He will get you food from the teachers lounge on occasion, and he makes the class so comfortable we basically have a counseling room in there. He is the sweetest 62 yr old ive ever met, and i will definitely miss him.
OMG I can relate so much to the first story! Once I was walking home from school and there was this huge gust of wind that like made my bag swing up and then when it came down it hit my side so I kinda stumbled. I just kept walking and pretended that nothing happened... (Sorry my English is kind of bad... It's my 2nd language)
The same story happened to one of my friend, her alarm-thing was really really loud but the teacher was nice, friendly and just laughed when she figured out ^^
I love how you tell your stories with timelapses xD I don't really draw and I'm not an artist (I'm already studying what I love), but it's something that I used to do often and I want to say that you have inspired me to do it again!! Love your videos and your drawings!!
once i got injured too (not as bad as you described yours, it was while cutting lino) and i didn't even tell my teacher, he just noticed something wasn't okay with my finger & rushed to get a band aid for me ~ i'm not used to people doing nice things for me, i was extra surprised & still am when i think of this incident
Im so sad I'm never going to have any good, bad or embarrassing experiences in school ( I don't go to school, im homeschooled because of .. erm.. some specific learning needs and social issues... I'm probably not going to be able to go to college either. I want so badly to go to school and meet some people. I don't even care if they'd ignore me, Id just love to be around someone my age, and study something I love. I really like these kinds of videos though, Thanks for sharing =)
I accidentally sliced my thumb pretty deep with a knife in art class and while everyone was starring at my rapidly bleeding thumb, i simply asked the teacher for a bandaid and my best friend started bawling laughing.
The exact same thing with the cutter happened to me as well... except the cut was pretty small, and I didn’t tell the teacher because she spent so much time telling us how to carefully use it, so we don’t cut ourselves... I cut myself three times.
Agdkadkaleaoprbsknwj I live in Calgary, when you mentioned acad before I just automatically assumed you were an art school that was somewhere else because iddkkkkkkk ... yes wind, oof
God the second story reminds me of the one time that my hand got slammed in a locker and I thought that I had just gotten a bruise but when I had gotten to my math class and there was blood dripping on to the floor and my teacher didn't care so when I was late because I had to get a bandaid he yelled at me ;-; (I also completely bled through 3 bandaids)
OOF I'm from Calgary and the wind here does suck like a few days ago it was only supposed to be -25 but because of the wind chill it ended up being -34. The worst part was we had a play at my school that I was in but I had to walk otherwise I could't go lmao
I've done the cutting the hand open thing, except it was when I was a Crew Leader and it was the first day I was meeting the 6 people I was gonna be supervising. Slashed my hand open cutting an apple and needed stitches. So embarrassing.
My mom got us one of those stupid little alarm thingies because mace is banned at our school (thanks to an incident involving an injured senior, student not human). My dad took us to church one Sunday and since I hadn't brought it to school I wasn't expecting the alarm to go off in such a quiet place. Well the alarm went off and people evacuated the building.
2:40 'it was all these engineering students who had like one notebook or whatever' lmao now that im an engineering student i can testify that this is true... took me like 2 weeks of class to start showing up with just a pencil, eraser and notebook
I cringed so hard when you described your thumb being cut. I rarely bat an eye when somebody is shot or stabbed in the movies, but for some reason when it's about fingers or hands being injured I get all squeamish. I can almost feel the pain myself a little. I hope you were ok.
It's hard, but if you fight for it you can do it. Maybe you could start doing commissions for your art to show your dad that it's possible to make money on art.
The first one.. i AM IN 6TH GRADE AND I HAVE TROUBLE CARRYING MY DOUBLE-BINDER AND SKETCHBOOK AROUND Like I swear I am gonna throw out my shoulder here soon lol.
CatzyTheCoffeeBean. I related, though I'm a junior (11th grade). I have two bags because one is not enough for all my books. They're like 15kgs (35~lbs) in total. Maybe more. It's awful.
