Terrifier director and makeup fx artist Damien Leone transforms David Howard Thornton into the murderous Art the Clown. Behind the scenes of Terrifier (2016)
Franchesca Sanchez the movie should’ve been rated b the acting was bad the blood was exaggerated (too much and not realistic) I would’ve rated the movie 1/10
@@lilygreen4186 I think the bad acting and overuse of blood was done on purpose in the film, to give it the vibe of an 80s slasher film or grindhouse film
The kills were good. Art was good. But everything else wasn't. I hated the beginning and ending with victoria. Like I said, the clown is good. I love David's performance In this
By far one of my favorite, and I'm a clown fan. I must agree his facial expression were very well put together he even added a hint of humor to them lol
Hey everyone! Art here. I've noticed a lot of questions asking about the release. It's coming soon! We are having a limited run in theaters March 15th-16th and then releasing on VOD on March 27th! DVD and Blu-ray has yet to be announced but should be later this year (probably summer). Thanks so much for your patience! I am sure you all will love it!
Well, Well.. I say, I say Hello There Mr. Thornton, or should I say "ART THE CLOWN?" This be Isaiah Cline speaking. As of yesterday, I ALREADY became A FAN!! I hadn't seen one of your movies yet, but I was just surfing Redbox in Nashville TN, and seen Art The Clown on the screen. It was the sequel to your first flick. So I postponed renting it. This morning, (9/2/18) I started watching Netflix. Lo and be hold, your film of TERRIFIER, was ready to be watched. So I did. Let's just say, I will be going back to Redbox tonight, to get your sequel. VERY WELL!! I have another CLOWN HERO, besides THE INSANE CLOWN POSSE!!
That's what I said to. We are used that people speak or respond , not judt look at you for prolonged times. That's considered preditory. My guess is a very primal clue.
It’s crazy how someone who looks so friendly before the transformation can turn into such a terrifying look. He did a great job as art the clown. I love that fact that he’s a mime since it adds to the mystique.
The original Art didn’t come close to David’s version, btw I saw him in person last weekend at Monster Mania and I got a picture with him in full costume so awesome.
100% the scariest clown imo Also, David Thornton is what makes the whole character and movie honestly. If it wasn’t for his brilliant performance I don’t think the movie would have been perceived as well as it was. The kills are awesome, so also credit to the practical effects team.
honestly if hellyweird wasn't so filled with incompetents, he would have got a call the very next day, how the hell don't they recognize they have the new jim carrey right in front of them ?
@@mrpoopybuttface LOL dumbass don't be stupid. Pennywise uses fear to kill people. Art has no fear plus Art is supernatural just like Pennywise. Fuck off kid
I wonder what Art's expressions would look like without makeup. Like how Bill Skarsgard did the Pennywise face without any makeup and it looked scarier than it did in the movie.
God this dude is an insanely captivating actor. The way he plays art is perfect. The facial movements, the personality. Everything. I don't think I've ever seen a horror character with that level of personality without having to say a word
I always laughed when people said they were scared of clowns, until I watched this movie and now I understand. He was amazing in this role. Genuinely terrifying.
Everyone in this movie is fantabulous!!!! Can't wait for number 3! And to hopefully meet all of you soon when you come to New York!! I can't wait till July for the first terrifier to come back👍 😊
What I really admire about this whole process is how they would’ve had to have gotten every scene where blood was on Art’s face perfect, because otherwise they would’ve had to go through the makeup process all over again. Dedication!!
It's amazing to see this makeup process go and Damien worked really hard to get the makeup just right for David's Character of Art The Clown, and of course the way David Howard Thornton plays Art bring an amazing and terrifying performance! :)
This is one of the few horror movies that actually made me uneasy and uncomfortable during some of the scenes. Art the clown is just straight up nightmare fuel. Excellent work, I'm so stoked for the sequel!
I just want to say the biggest thank you for doing this makeup forming this character and bringing a real horror back into clowns. Love the movie. Cant wait for 2nd film
I've watched both movies. Great performance by David Thornton, never easy to act without any lines. I also send my congrats to the whole crew but especialy to the art department. Considering the films budget, all those costumes, decorations, inner and outer places are very well created and organised and also sound effects and soundtracks of Paul Wiley deserve an extra credit. I hope we learn much more about the art clown in the third movie.
I love ‘Terrifier’! Such a good, and truly faithful throwback to the ‘70s Grindhouse and ‘80s slashers! I’m not a fan of clown horror films, I think they’re criminally overrated, but making Art a mime, and how he’s filmed, along with his portrayal (yes, I know DTH has done Joker impersonations as well), I think really works to the film’s advantage! One thing I really enjoy is how both Leone and Howard has come forward to deny speculations on the character. A lot of people like to speculate, or even show their degree in psychology.... From Wikipedia, that Art is misogynist or had maternal issues, and if you try to tell them it don’t think that’s the case’, they like to think it’s subjective and ‘Well in MY OPINION, he IS’, but then the creator and actor step in to say ‘No he’s not’, so it’s not as subjective. I wish more filmmakers and actors touched upon their creations and put some ‘Well in MY OPINION’s to rest.
Not exactly because Terrifier is basicly a movie that took this character from all hallows eve so I am not going to consider Terrifier 2 a sequel to a sequel but a sequel to Terrifier. 👍👍👍
Thank you for finally releasing terrifier 2!! It's like watching John carpenters the thing, but its art the clown torturing people. I just love the effort put into these films instead of just zeros and ones.
This movie was a great treat this Halloween season. Even though it was set in modern day, the atmosphere and aesthetic really took me back in time. Mr. Thornton killed his role, pun absolutely intended. It was as effective as Heath Ledgers Joker. He's sadistic, cruel, creepy, terrible, nearly every derogatory term, but you also can't help but be mesmerized every moment David is on screen he plays it so well. He's also genuinely funny at times. To make a character so legitimately scary, but also, kind of fun, cannot be an easy feat, but the performance and top notch make up design deliver in spades. I also really enjoyed the music. The gore effects were well done too. Last but not least, all the actors did great as well. Especially Catharine Corcoran, who really took one for the team in order to deliver Arts most brutal kill. I can't imagine it was an easy scene to shoot. I hope to see Art again and other projects from these creators in the near future.
I’ve yet to watch either of these two films because I’m not the biggest fan of slashers. But recently I saw the laundromat scene randomly on RU-vid and I was hooked. Brilliant stuff. So now I’m doing all this behind the scenes diving and falling even more in love with the films… before I even watch them. I’m thinking this weekend. Cheers 🍻 as a die hard fan of horror, I’m happy to be excited about something fun to watch.
I didn't know Terrifier movie exist. when the sequel came it started circulating all over the internet and especially on my recommendation and man this both movies are scary af. after watching both movies i now find 'IT' to be nothing. guy playing Art is astounding. you deserve more recognitions.
A very rare horror movie where its gory as fuck but also very scary and not campy. Also a huge props to Mr. Damien Leone who does the make up, directing/editing and promoting. That is very tough to balance those all and still crank out a fucking awesome movie.
Awesome movie!! Got 2 copies and am already looking for a sequel. This movie explains why I fell in love with horror movies. Great Job, keep up the good work!!
I watched the movie awhile back and MAN IT WAS AWESOME. I love this. So cool. Hopefully we get to see Art the Clown in more movies. I'd even take some online shorts.
Pure comedy! Laughed a lot at this insane buffon!!! Masterful acting. If not for Phoenix, Ledger and Jester, my favorite clown. The proud of the profession!!! Downloaded both movies and watched both today. Now, they MUST make the third masterpiece. Pure comedy!
David Howard Thornton deserves serious recognition for his performance as Art the Clown. This is no easy roll to pull off. He is about as creepy, spooky, unnerving, and downright scary than any other actor could possibly duplicate!
Without a single line ! We are used to be spoken to or at least answered. So being stared at is just ....hostile. And a primal sign of agression - as some animals have shown people. Also smiling WIDE - because it's showing teeth... It all plays on our primal instincts.
Like cinema student i'm really impressionated by the production. They counted with a low budget (compared with big productions that we use to see) and maked such realist practical visual effects. Really hat off to Damien and all his team behind Terrifier. (Sorry bad english xd)
Eli Roth almost created another horror legend but decided to kill him off with the “clown”movie which in my opinion was original and very unique The it movies were a flop with scenes that had potential, one great performance shrouded by a sea of drastically stretched out ideas The saviour of horror in this era is art the clown and the terrifyer movies I’m so bloody proud of all who had a hand in creating these masterpieces The true fans asked for it without uttering a word And finally we were given something that wasn’t regurgitated from the bowels of someone else’s work Terrifyer 2 is art the clown coming of age as what could be his step up onto the throne of horror greats with our 80s classics like Michael myers , Jason vorhees and Freddy kruger My heart is filled with joy tonight as I write this 🎉 Thanks for giving me hope again All movies to follow here on have very big blood soaked clown shoes to fill !!🎉
