Alcheon Art I think it’s also fine to use lots of water - it’s just a different style. For me, I like being able to control things, hence the drier washes. ☺️
I wish RU-vid had a mega super like button so that I could like your videos even more. Hi Danny. I just discovered your channel and loved every single artwork you've put, in all of the videos. And I want to tell you that I really really love your style. This video, in particular, has shed some light behind your process and approach and I would like to say that most of us (your viewers) would love to learn how you paint and sketch these masterpieces. Whenever you have some time, please do consider making more of these videos, so that we can learn from you. I want to confess something to you, I haven't painted at all from the last 16 years. I used to sketch a lot as a child and up to my early teens and never worked with colors much. But when I really started liking watercolor, I was forced to choose my studies over art. And after that, I think I lost the confidence to hold a pencil or a paintbrush again. But I'll be turning 30 soon and I have decided to start painting again. Just a few days ago I started watching videos on watercolor and today I stumbled upon your channel. And I think this might be the happiest moment in my life after a very very long time. I want to thank you for all of your videos and all the efforts that you put in everything. And would like to request you to give us some more videos like these so that we can learn to paint like you. I know, every artist has their own style and everyone develops their own with time and practice, but your style has stood up and above of everything I've been looking all over the internet. And please let me know if you are interested in doing this commercially like on patreon or somewhere else. I'd love to learn from you. It's a humble request. So, please do consider this. And lastly thank you for inspiring me again. Thanks a ton.
Sameer Pattnayak Hey Sameer, thanks so much for your kind comment. That made my evening! ☺️ I’m happy to hear you’re feeling inspired, and I definitely encourage you to take the plunge into painting again. I went ten years without doing any art, and now I can hardly imagine going ten days without it! So you’re certainly not alone there. 😉 And thanks, I’ll certainly keep more tutorials in mind! Take care and happy painting! 🎨
I’d love you to do a tutorial on the sketching element of your travel sketchbooks. How you simplify the scene but still get enough detail for it to be so interesting and atmospheric. You truly are an awesome artist Danny
No need to worry about video or audio quality - you did it perfectly. Just look what you can create just with a small sketch book, a small tray of watercolours and some water. Charming and beautiful.
London59 Thank you so much! Yes, I suppose I was using a bit of the equipment I already had on me. And definitely - it’s always cool to see what you can do with some paper, watercolors and water. ☺️
Danny, thank you so much! Trees always seem as super complicated objects, but with your tutorial it’s finally got feasible. And also thank you for showing how exactly you mix up paints (not many artists do it). I hope you’ll make more tutorials in the future!
Hi Diana, I'm so happy to hear that! Yes, trees were always a bit of a challenge for me until I discovered my "method". And glad you liked seeing what I mix too. Hope you have fun painting! :)
this is like the first tutorial ive seen that actually makes me feel like i have the ability to make something beautiful. like there are so many ways you can include simple trees (as shown by your work) that turns a piece of art into a masterpiece. and i now realize how depth can be added to trees! looks so complicated, but really isnt. thanks for sharing the secret.
Thanks so much for this. Am certainly going to try this out. Love the way you continuously mix the greens rather than making lots of mixes beforehand. Some of your cityscapes surrounded by trees look like amazing floating islands and that is brilliant!
Your channel just popped up. I found your process amazing and so simple. I would love to see a whole scene from start to finish. Your work is beautiful. I would love to try and follow your process for a simple scene. I hope you do more how to videos. Thanks
@@DannyHawk love your work! Any tips on how to start and learn to paint this well? And what notebook do you use? Mine buckle and don't take water really well :(
I think what you said about checking your values for light, mid, and dark tones is really key. Lightbulb moment. 🤓💡Your artwork looks awesome. Love your style of painting. Thanks for sharing your process.
I loved this tutorial!! Thank you so much for sharing your technique :) I started to learn urban sketching recently and I just came across your work and I love it so much! I really hope you keep doing more tutorials :D
This is fantastic, thank you! It hadn't even occurred to me to use the same color for each bush's shading - that way all the bushes can be different colors for variety!
Thank you for this tutorial! This is the first video from you I have seen, and I loved it! I admire your style and the way you „frame“ your sketches (like the Frankfurt skyline). I also liked that it was real-time! This makes it so much easier to see what exactly you’re doing. I’d love to see more tutorials or sketching (product reviews and stuff I find to be so intimidating/ non-active because then my mind thinks I need more supplies. Seeing this tutorial, I immediately want to try it out!)!
Absolutely beautiful. Your paintings are gorgeous. Thank you for sharing your process with us. I hope we'll see more tutorials like this in the future.
Trees have always been a nightmare for me to paint this is by far the most useful tutorial ive ever seen thank you so much! And the video and audio quality was great
It's snowing in NH on a Saturday morning and when I eventually get out of this warm bed. I may try my hand at this beautiful method. Thank you very much for sharing!!!
love how u do ur trees...such depth x just discovered u a couple of days ago and enjoying watching u sketching and painting and thanku for sharing x 😉😉
You deserve to be recognized by a lot of people. I just visited your channel and i was amazed by your works! Artists like you really motivates me to do something wonderful and fill my sketchbook, and also inspires me to love the idea of art itself even more.💛😫
An excellent tutorial and so helpful to hear you talk through your process while you paint. This is only the 2nd of your videos I've watched, the first one was in German. In both videos, my impression was that the technique reminds me of colour pencil colouring, but with more blending and subtlety of tones and values. Your mixed mediation approach, by using fountain pen underdrawing, provides the framework to "colour in", just like in colouring books. It's a wonderful technique to bring out detail and show more representational paintings, yet the use of a limited palette and your skilled colour mixing really allows the watercolour medium to bring the whole thing to life. My God!!!!! You are soooo amaaazing!!! Im so happy youtube recommended your channel. New subscriber here. More tutorials and speed painting please!!! And materials please thank you! 😍😍😍😍
This is really easy looking. You make it seem simple enough. Now all we have to do is separate the trees so we can add houses and buildings in between the trees to give more depth to the trees.
I have been painting a little Watercolour for several years and Have never seen any artist mix Colours in this way. So pleased I’ve come across your video. I will have a go.. Thank you
Wow! You definitely have a gift! And I would have never guessed you were just using your cell phone to record either! It did super great! Sure hope to see more tutorials soon!!!
