Art Unlocked is an online talk series brought to you by Art UK in collaboration with Bloomberg Philanthropies. Each week, different museum and gallery curators and directors from across the UK will deliver a 30-minute talk on selected works from their collection.

You can buy our book "Behind the Lines" from our online shop and from the Art UK shop. This has all the First World War paintings in it. The paintings are owned by the Canadian War Museum but they were exhibited here at the Munnings Art Museum during 2019.

How much truth was there in film about his first marriage? It was visually stunning but didn’t really hang together. Put me completely off Munnings.

The film, based on the book of the same title, uses diaries and storytelling to create the narrative. You are right, it doesn't show Munnings in a good light. Like all of us Munnings had many more facets to his personailty than can be seen from one perspective.
