I have mixed feelings about AI that I won't get into much here, but I do know that people are losing their jobs from it as a friend of mine lost his recently as it rendered his entire department obsolete. He was not an artist or in a creative field, to clarify. It has also lit a fire in me to continue creating and somehow that fire gave me more courage to make what I am truly passionate about, so I can definitely relate to that. Your final painting, Pillars of Creation, is gorgeous! I remember watching your vlog with the concept art!

It really goes far beyond art & creative fields, though these are the only ones I feel I can talk about - though I know from friends that book/article translation, as well, has been hit incredibly hard, and we can only imagine what is yet to come... Thank you so much for the kind words! The "Pillars of Creation" were mostly painted late at night so I was hesitant about using some of the footage - but in the end, I really wanted to show the process, completing what started in that sketchbook video. 💕

It's really nice that you can do what you love as a full time job ... I'm a student in medicine and can't really balance my studies and making art simultaneously...but hearing you also struggle made me sure that one day I can also continue this passion. 💜

I think of my "freelance" work - like the storyboards, for example - as the day job, and then commissions and my personal art as the fun part, so while that's still a juggle act, it can't be compared to studying medicine of all things! That's a very taxing (and important!) field, and I hope that one day you can delve into your art when you have some room to breathe. I hope we all do! :)

Hey, Eve, earnest creations here. First of all: congratulations on the video, it's speech, each take and it's content, very organized; feels very pleasant to watch. As for AI, I'll start by stating the following: Artificial Intelligence is everything except the one thing that's being commercialized as: intelligent. That's pure marketing right there. It's a great tool for whoever is already immerged in the fields of visual communication, but no more than a scalpel in the hands of a non-surgeon. Now, the problem is that most people already know that they cannot just take a knife and do surgeries, but they are not aware of any lacking knowledge regarding this field. So, they don't think they need an expert or dedicated human being. Just like you've mentioned, most businesses will try to bypass artists and designers. I don't know for how long before they realize. Artificial "Intelligence" lacks connection, lacks emotion, lacks coherence. Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic development and we have to be proud of the brilliant geniuses behind those projects, but it's far from being intelligent, it doesn't learn and it shouldn't be able to replace any intelligent being. What it CAN replace is mediocre marketing statistics-led stuff, like Marvel movies for example, but could never make a Woody Allen's movie.

Hi, so happy to see you here! Thank you for the kind words - I enjoy making these videos and having room to think and share and draw beyond the usual 10 seconds of short form videos. And thanks for bringing up the "intelligence" part! I focused a lot on what all the scraping and regurgitating means for creativity, but didn't touch at all on some of the larger issues, like how generative language models, for example, are now just universally labelled as "intelligence". It really has become such a keyword in marketing (at least here in Korea, I feel like every other tech or design ad tosses the word AI around) and that erases the actual use cases for these programs out there, and in my opinion, pushes their development in the wrong, less interesting directions. :/ It's a weird, weird world!

Great video! I was very interested to hear thoughts on AI from a professional like yourself, thanks for sharing that. I do think some aspects of the "AI taking over everything" notions are a bit premature. However, I find it pretty frustrating that so much of AI's development is centered around creative arts instead of automating things humans don't want to do.

Hi, thank you for dropping by! :) And I completely agree on the "taking over everything" - that's mostly a marketing gimmick, and all the projects that I worked on that wanted to use generative content really were held back by it, not improved, and the focus on replacing artists of all kinds is so strange to me.

@@evydraws-art Wow, so not even just that the AI tools needed help, but that they actually hindered the project? Haha that sounds about right Anyhow, enjoyed the vlog as always - happy painting to you!

Where did you get that wooden table easel? Thank you

The big one I'm using here is by an Italian brand called Mabef (and it's amazing) that I got as a birthday gift. :)

Thank you for getting back to me. I have been looking for a decent table easel for painting but didn't know where to look. I haven't seen one like yours. Do you know if they discontinued that particular model? Thank you again.

I did some digging (since we found mine as the last remaining one at a local art store, and on sale 🙂) - it's the Mabef M17, and I've added a link to the description. Though other "H-Frame" easels by Jackson's Art and similar brands exist, too. Generally, the H-frame ones are very sturdy! What I really like about the M17 is the adjustable height of the tray. The lowest setting is perfect when I'm sitting down, but I can also raise it to stand at my desk while painting, or to get a better angle for small art.

I find them in stores in Europe and Australia but nothing in stores in the US. I’m thinking the charge to ship from those areas would be quite expensive. I thank you. Be assured I will keep searching.

@@rickcroucher I hope you can find something similar! I can really recommend checking out physical art stores to see the quality up-close, no matter the brand, even if you end up ordering online. Good luck! :)
