Den här skivan med Norska gruppen Artch köpte jag när jag som 19 årig yngling besökte London. Och jag tycker fortfarande, snart 30 år senare att det är en superskiva!
I have this on vinyl by accident when i was younger. I thought it was something else and i listened to it so much i broke my record player. those were the days! I got helloween the same day. thanks for the up!!!
What a handsome guy to match that amazing voice! Artch are great musicians with one of the best singers there is in Egil, but poor promotion did them in in the States. I was looking for this band at the age of 13 in 1989- nobody had the Another Return or any other album. Typical. You ask me there could have been a Scandinavian invasion and it would have beat all the American bands at that time or any other. In the 60s and 70s Europe/UK/Australia/NZ had better bands than here. I think it's the education of the musicians and also the "just fuck the business this is for the music" way of thinking. Here all anybody cares about is money. That's not ever gonna be a good thing. Think I'll try to plan a trip to Norway and see Artch live if they're around. Would love to meet them.
Oh, got it wrong It's Eirkur I think!!? Egil is another Scandinavian name, but no one in Artch to my knowledge is called that. I don't know how they missed out. The lyrics are really scary, but in a fun and surreal kind of way. I think this band should have been huge everywhere, but as I said record company negligence wrecked everything for them. I'd rather listen to this than Iron Maiden- I find their music cold. I prefer more of this kind of belting voice it reminds me a bit of some British singers who are really good.
rosenstoke Yes. Eirikur Hauksson. Where is he and where are the lads now? Hopefully all healthy and happy and maybe if we're lucky we'll get a reunion from them. Thank you for correcting me,
Benjamin Blake Mitchner You're welcome ;) This band was new to me until recently. I know that Eirikur has represented both Norway and Iceland in the ESC. Have a good summer :)
rosenstoke Thanks again! Eirikur is really good. He seems to sing a lot of his more recent material in his native language- understandable. They're a band I heard of in the distant past and I was horrified that no store carried the album. I was only 13 then guess I already knew what poor promotion could cause! Have a great summer too!
I want to meet Eirikur and the chaps from this wonderful band in person and spend a lot of time with them. I'd save for a plane ticket to Europe to see them that's how much I love them and so many other great European rock bands!!!! Unfortunately, English lyrics or not few of them make it in America and that's no surprise as we have pretty shit bands for really heavy metal like Metallica! I hate Metallica. They have absolutely no talent. Also, I think Eirikur is a million times better than Bruce Dickinson! He has more soul, more passion, not to mention he's probably a nicer guy. Most Scandinavians are great. I go way back with Scandinavian bands to the 60s. It's always worthwhile to hear Norwegian, Swedish, Icelandic, Finnish bands and certainly Denmark gave us many great ones so I think I've mentioned every country?
