This week i'm bringing to you my Arteza Everblend Marker Review and I can honestly say I didn't expect this ...
A while ago Arteza were kind enough to send me their new everblend alcohol markers to test and review, this was the 60 set of markers. I used these to complete my venasaur vs charmander drawing. Shortly after arteza also sent me their new 120 set of markers to test and review as well, these are what I used to create the piccolo drawing I done recently.
I was surprised to find each set comes with it's own storage and carry case, it's a neat addition, especially if you're an artist on the move. Like most markers, there are 2 nibs, one fine point and one chisel point. It's fairly standard for alcohol markers to come with this setup, so that was expected. the bag has a color swatch attached and includes a colorless blender as well as emptry space for extra markers.
I started testing the colors on a scrap piece of paper and was instantly shocked ... the color saturation on these markers are amazing, they looked exactly like my copic markers. I actually pulled out my copic markers and tested them side by side so I could see the difference and then moved onto blending with a few colors. Again, I was surprised, I found they blended beautifully and felt very much like copic markers.
Now, the major selling point for copics compared with other brands is 1: the brush nib, and 2: their refillable inks.
The brush tip for the copic markers is amazing and hoenstly cannot be compared to and having the refillable ink is an added bonus. I did speak to arteza and they told me they have exchangebale nibs and are looking into refillable inks.
Back to the markers! The 60 set contains a really nice selection of colors and I think is perfect for anyone looking to dip their toes into alcohol marker based artwork. Comparing the cost to copic markers isn't even close, copic ciao are around 2.5 times more expensive or even more depending on where you buy them.
The 120 set comes in the same storage and carry bag but has a vast selection of colors, this set will be more than enough for the average user.
Overall I can say that I really didn't expect this but the markers, as far as color and blending goes, are on par with copics. The copics pull ahead with their brush nib, refillable inks and larger selection of colors, although, you pay the premium for those benefits.
