Old spinster me got off her chair and shook her bootie during this gig. Still young enough to shake it and not break it. Remember when this was out on the radio. Great seeing Alice Cooper fan-boying at Arthur's performance. Great upload.
So true. I wonder if Alice have met Screaming lord sutch or even mention him as an influence. Alice took his make up from Arthur Brown, but he took everything else from Screaming Lord Sutch (voice, look, theatrical, mood, humour, etc...).
Yup ArthurBrown was v influential and he's still out there. Going to see him in 2 weeks at a prog festival . 80 y young and still the god of helllfire. God bless him
When I first saw Arthur Brown's "Fire" TOTP performance on some retro music TV program over 20 years ago I immediately thought Alice Cooper must have been influenced from him and sure enough that was correct! And to see them performing together in this video is an absolute treat, Arthur in his 70s has still can hit those shrilling high notes which is amazing and this song sounds great with the Alice Cooper band rockin sound backing it! It looks like Alice let Arthur have the whole show for this performance as he stood in the background providing the backing vocals. Anyhow they should have teamed up way back in the 70s when Alice was starting out, make it both and Alice and Arthur show when they toured together, that would be a double treat for shock rock fans!
Cooper really shouldn't have tried to sing along to much more than the chorus. Brown has this knack for falling in and out of time and altering his delivery cadence. Just let him go. Otherwise it feels like a vocal lag.
Perhaps!!!! But I guess we’ll never know what what discussed between the 2 of them prior to the performance. Maybe….just maybe…Artie B said to Alice that it would be an honor if you would sing along with me
I remember seeing Arthur Brown in the early 70s live in Leicester......... Fire was much better then because of his dancing and his voice was perfect then. Did great in this concert though, given his age 👍. Sadly Arthur has never really had the recognition that he deserved
The King of Shock Rock meets The Father of Shock Rock plus Joe Perry! What more do you want maybe have the Godfather of Shock Rock - Screaming Jay Hawkins - join them.
According to an interview, his mother took him to see the evangelist Billy Graham as a child....Perhaps something has been remembered. The song reminds me of a Bible passage: 1 Corinthians 3:15 But if anyone's work is burned, he will suffer damage; but he himself will be saved, but through fire........
The Last time I saw Arther Brown Carl Palmer was his Drummer! So 68, I would have been 12 or 13 he did a poem before Reciting those Famous Worked " I am.... you know the Rest"
Joe Perry, friend. He's the lead guitarist of 'Aerosmith' who's singer is Steven Tyler. Joe Perry and Johnny Depp are also in the band 'Hollywood Vampires' with Alice Cooper.
