A masterpiece! The perfect summation of Carter/Reagan-era America. I bought it new and still have my original vinyl copy. Someday this album will be recognized as the brilliant piece of art that it is. Someday, when someone asks what America was like in the 1980s, someone will play this lp and it will explain it!

Heresy jonny rotten from the sex pistols hailed alice as his hero and said that his music and lyrics inspired the sex pistols his attitude and fashion or lack of.. in the early 70's inspired him.

Majority of Alice fans are a bit dense. They just wanna see schlocky-guy with the black eyes, and that`s what they get. Artistically, everything after DaDa just feels- a bit boring.

@@functhefucc5798 I like all of Alice's periods for different reasons, his 80s, 90s, and 2000s stuff is some of my very favorite rock and metal music. It's different from a lot of his older stuff, but it's very good.

That's the Beauty of a GREAT VIDEO! It doesn't HAVE to be "HIGH TECH" like today! ALOT of the "GREAT" Videos of the 80's and early 90's were actually pretty low budget AND Low tech! But they make a HUGE STATEMENT! :D

When I just sit and listen to the song itself, it puts all of these visuals of suffering and sadness in my head, but here's Alice just standing in a scrapyard, singing, and making some limited gestures, calling attention to how disturbingly unhealthy he looks.

I have always wondered why it was specified the version from the Life and Crimes boxset was the album version. If there exists an alternative version that's the one they should have put on there IMO.

Patrick UK I was soo happy when he brought it back last year for the spend the night with alice cooper tour . I saw it twice it was epic. Both times front row .

It's a terribly underrated song, powerful instrumentals, vocals, and lyrics.

Funny, I avoided seeing Alice after the Special Forces tour (I don't think he played the UK for Zipper and DaDa) BECAUSE he didn't play the "Blackout" period songs!

I was about 15. Believe it or not I heard Clones on a Chicago rock station. I was instantly hooked.

This was like the ballad of the album, the album had new wave stuff (Clones, Leather Boots mainly) but the rest had a punky feel but the synths gave it a new wave flavor at times, but this was probably his punkiest sounding album along with special forces and zipper catches skin.

He had his own pain to deal with.

He borrowed(stole) from any period of Alice.

Extremely dark time for him, though he made a lot of very good music during it. Also made a lot of good music since.

Flush the Fashion is a totally underrated album.

A little bit of column B, but mostly column A, sadly. Still a masterpiece.

Hafta agree with Brendalee, it was both. And being the artist that he is, he was aware of it and capitalized on his deathly appearance for sure.

He was in such a bad place in this period, hard drinking, hard drugs, losing more and more friends as he went, I believe he's said that he has a lot of gaps in his memory of this time, that he doesn't recall recording albums such as Zipper Catches Skin, stuff like that. DaDa has another track which is really powerful like this, Pass The Gun Around, and I'm not sure about the exact time period of this, but I wonder if this song relates to when he came to his breaking point, when he had alienated all his friends and family. He hated his life and was about to shoot himself, then in the last moment opens the gun and dumps the cartridges out the window, flushes his cocaine down the toilet, and cries himself to sleep, checking into rehab the next day.
