Arthur Dooley - One of Liverpool's forgotten sons 

How right he was about the docks

Arthur Dooley was clearly a head of his time. A true, genuine artist. Ironically he predicted the “Albert Dock” 40-50 years before it happened. That Liverpool would one day be a capital of culture and establish itself once again. What a talent. This man was self taught and he left his mark all over the city. He left his unique imprint in the artistic world. It says in the video description that he is one of Liverpool’s forgotten sons. Well I didn’t know who he was but now I do. This man will always find an audience and his work will never die. His comments about a lack of community also ring sadly true. A brilliant, aware mind. His views on Christianity and the working classes ring true and sincere. R.I.P Mr Dooley.x

Arthur and my dad were relatives and teenagers living in Liverpool during The Blitz. The horrific battle was more or less condensed into about 3 nights intense activity where the city was 75% destroyed and thousands lost their lives. They did not huddle in air raid shelters , they were out on the street helping people and putting out fires. As soon as they were old enough to enlist my father joined The RAF and Arthur joined the Army. Dooley was sent out to Palestine but deserted to join The PLO for which he was later convicted and spent a year in the glass House.
