I bought this game a while back and have only gotten to play it once with my wife. We liked it well enough and thought it did suffer a little bit from the constant need to flip the cards over to see what they did. Does anybody thing it would be beneficial if each player had a small reference sheet that showed/explained the all purchasable card's backsides?

I just picked this up after seeing this video, so mission accomplished!

Ryan's The Ancient World showed the stats of retired armies, which stopped you needing to flip the card, which is terribly annoying in this game. I really wouldn't even consider playing this game without using the variant - great shame that the game didn't come with 4 sets of dice!
