Artificial skin that changes colours like a chameleon created by South Korean scientists

Researchers in a lab in the South Korean capital Seoul have created a chameleon robot that instantly changes its skin colour to match its surroundings. The team at Seoul National University developed their camouflage technology using special ink that changes colour based on temperature, controlling the changes with an extremely thin and flexible layer of heaters. Demonstrating the device on September 7, 2021, lead researcher Ko Seung-hwan said an immediate goal for the project is to develop clothing such as military uniforms that can actively change colours and patterns to offer more effective camouflage.

I don't think it would be an effective camouflage because of the use of temperature, it might be easily spotted by a thermal sensor.

This is Evolutionary!!! But you need also small battery that would last 24 hours and also could adapt to changes in extreme weather/situation/environment. Errors are also possible, what if it gets wet? What if the battery doesn't work because of the heat? How can you charge them during rainy days? Etc.

Laptop skin that plugs into a USB port. Always has power, use an app in the OS to control the skin on the outside lid for themes/logos/text etc. Or mount some around/on the touchpad for custom programmable touch controls?

So basically it is a thin fabric that could change color depending on the temperature that was given inside the inner layer. You just have sensors and heater that was inputted to a color at a certain temperature.

🤔 This "chameleon camouflage" concept has been imagined and theorised in sci-fi and multiple mangas and animes for many years.. took quite awhile for technology to catch up to be able make them into reality. Most likely in the not so near furture it will be used in certain areas.. but i guess most of us have a vaguely similar idea where and when it'll be used.. nevertheless.. 👏🏼well done👍🏼
