interesting to note that DG laid out the Chinese strategy very precisely! that builds confidence in us to believe when he says that we know their strategy and we've plans in place for them! Thank You!
Excellent exposition on the occasion of the Gunners day !! Glad we are realising the value of `Artillery' in this era of depth battles and non-contact warfare and working on its modernisation. Let us continue building on the strong foundation of "firepower" that we already have, bringing in more long-range vectors, with matching "eyes and ears" (sensors). To my mind, the rhetoric for a "Rocket force" in the Indian context, is but a rhetoric !! We can create similar deterrence and capability through strengthening Artillery, at an affordable cost !! Yes, the cost is important because that is what has inordinately delayed our modernisation already. Good shooting and a happy Gunners Day Anil Ahuja
CBI or Indian govt. needs to open investigation into these generals who keep asking for lighter guns and stalling ATAGS induction. They seem to be after commissions given how many howitzer options are available within India.
Everything isn't a straight rod, heavier guns, while powerful are also difficult to transport, specially in the north-eastern regions where in the mountains, the roads become steep and narrow and passage of big trucks towing heavy artillery can take days and even weeks to arrive anywhere relevant, this in contrast to the fact that China has whole freaking railway system for their logistics, eventually what wins wars? "logistics" , another lesson from the Russo-Ukraine war. This is also why MGAS is preferred over towed artillery which is a bygone era, I believe the DG himself mentioned it in another interview/presentation, the K9 Vajra is the most relevant artillery we have because of its self-mobility, however to make it more effective, we need to start mass producing our own versions.
@@ПлатонУченик K9 weighs over 40 tonnes lol. Your arguments are invalid considering Pakistan border itself should necessitate over 5000 ATAGS .You are nothing but an apologist for commission eating generals. K
No chance, army just issued a new requirement where they have now demanded 15 tonnes weight which pretty much ends any chance atags had. They are salivating for isareli athos now and very likley army will go for athos. What a crying shame whilst kalyani is exporting to armenia and now likely to brazil, argentina and phillipines, the indian army will likely order a measly 300 units for atags
@8:55 They will either not buy Atags or procure in very less numbers. They again want industry to invest in R&D for a new gun. A world class gun is going to have same fate that was with Arjun tank. Import lobby and foreign companies have very heavy influence in Army😢.
In artillery we are behind even Pakistan whose budget is 10 times less than us. Why and how ? Pak has 1200+ self propelled artillery and we have 100. Towed Artillery also they have higher numbers then us. Same case with rocket projectiles also.
Our army requirements changes with respect to time this they avoid kalyni ATAGS GUN, NOW THEY REQUIRE MORE LIGHT GUN. ARMY ONLY PLAYING GAME. BESIDES INDIAN NAVY LUACHED SWAVLAMBAN MISSION AND INDUCT INDEGENOUS WEAPONS. AIR FORCE ALSO GOOD TO ACCEPT INDEGENOUS WEAPONS
More Lighter more versatile guns in short Israeli systems , the army seems to be more keen to acquire foreign equipment even when very good indegenous systems are available.!!!
Technology driven modernisation is a given. However, Ukraine war has demonstrated that ammo production ie 'stamina' in simple terms, is of prime importance. For such a large country and its Army, our stamina is negligible. At given rate of investments, will we ever catch up... if ever?
The serious question to be asked is .... The Artillery Rationalisation plan is more than 2 decades old. We still have not been able to procure even 40% of our own reqd. numbers !! The Navy and Airforce are far ahead in showing some actual pace in Modernization 🤦
Your studio set-up is too bright and too loud. Good in Army Messes and Establishments, but here .....? DG Arty seems to be a "rattu tota". He spoke non-stop for 15 minutes with no full stops! Maybe a Q @ A session would have been better for the audience instead of this monotonous monologue. Good effort nevertheless.
Indian Army must acuqire 1500 ATHOS from Israel, to be made in india jointly by indian companies and Israel company in india . Price is one third compared to indian field guns being made in india . Production and development of Indian field guns may also continue side by side. indian Army needs 6000 New field guns presently.
If army wants light and maneuverable artillery then why they have wasted 10 years on DRDO atags testing? Haven't they know 25 liters chamber increases its weight
So many engineering colleges are present and many start ups are running dry Why is the government not tying up deals and projects. China did reverse engineering initially they were of low quality slowly and over the time they stick to it indigenous system now they are manufacturing and developing high quality systems beating American and Russian counter parts. Defence technology will change the economy of the country it will boast and reform civilian and commercial markets . Like internet military communication to today's social media apps
He still didn't answer why the Army is obessesed with ATHOS instead of building ATAGS MK2 which would be 15 tons. Massive corruption, this guy must have been paid off
Why Our officers are less interested in Arjun tank,Tejas? Made In India weapons par dhyan Dena chahiye. Desh ka Paisa bachega to har soldier ko bullet proof jacket mil paega. BSF,ITBP ko bhi
Army will order big number of foreign artillery guns... Nd will procure limited number of ATAGS....nothing changes it's the win win situation for foreign bribes, be it congress era or bjp
Why they are not purchasing artillery from Kalyaani group and Tata group? History mein weapons deal mein dalali hoti rhi hain. Sarkkar sakhti rakhe aurMade in India weapons ko khridne par zor de. Khin made in India weapon companies kisi corrupt person ki sazish ka shikar n ho jaein. Sena ko mazboot banaein .
Jis tarah se army ne saalo saal ATAGS ka trials ke baad order mai nautanki Kari koi private sector tabhi agey nhi aata baba kalyani ko heart karwake manenge military leadership ko overhauling karne ki jarurat sirf Britishers ki tarah starts in shoulder mai dikhake nhi honga ye mindset change Karo
The Chinese army is "artillery based" and has a huge rocket force, in the mountainous regions of Himalayas heights and mountain strike corps with special forces available at will to secure neutralised territory (via artillery). Modern warfare has gone way ahead of WW2, even countries like the USA are still pondering and evolving to adjust to new tactics and strategies. A highly motivated and effectively trained army assisted with satellite imagery and drones will be a safer bet for any army across the globe.
" looking for a towed gun system with increased indigenous contents " = means Athos towed gun system. That means the Israelis are coming in whether we like it or not!.
Some harsh truths the indian army is wayyy behind in terms of modernisation and indigenisation than the iaf( late but have shown excellent pace lately( and navy my favourite which is exceptional. Full disclosure i am from a navy family so obviously biased. But army has some serious trust and commitment issues that it should sort out quickly.
What types of the guys are getting defence sector production when there is a issue of brain drain of the talented peoples going away abroad? Or defence sector organisations facing same issue of recruitment of mediocre as other services?
