Are you sure tho? 1080 at 24 inches = only 91 ppi. You surely will like the increase in size but in the long run you will regret to not have waited just a little longer until 1440p becomes the norm. If you want to be confortable on a screen larger than 20 inches, 1440p is way easier, sweet for the eyes ,which may also motivate you because you wouldn’t be so reluctant seeing the display. My advice, hold on 🎉
@@jeofthevirtuoussand This should be a 1440p display, at least that's what shown online (correction, they have two different models. The FHD version is a VA panel).
@@deuswulf6193 there the 24 artist ((pro)) at 2k resolution and the new itteration from the (artist) lineup the first model was a 22 inches 1080p without a laminated screen, now it's 24 inches 1080p laminated
Well.., shoot. I've not been using 3D at all to assist with layouts! And here I've been scrambling to improve my painting game to keep up with all the great environment art popping up. At least it has been solid exercise. I suspect at some point fairly soon, this is going to be strictly hobby stuff, what with the AI revolution upon us. Might as well enjoy the grunt work seeing as how nobody is going to need to pay for it. I'm thinking of going back to wet media. Just to prove my humanity. I wonder how long until 3D printing 'solves' for that as well..?
I've made plenty of my own mistakes and know stuff happens. At 3:09 to 3:10 the volume change is very extreme. Who ever edits your videos might want to watch out for this in the future.
i just need laminated and good gamma range tho 91 ppi upclose? not sure about that . for that matter i think the artist 22 (102PPI)makes a difference . mean ,it's so much seeing the pixel than feeling that pixelisation when working. at 24 inches , 1440p is much better since you can't distance yourself too much from from that tablet. considering the fact that this tablet can take a good amount of estate on small desks ,meaning it can aslo end up being a primary monitors for many , all of that are concerns for when someone has a small set up and is on a budget, so many won't consider buying a monitor, the only reason why i would recommand that tablet is if someone already has a good primary monitor. if you dont have the space , just chew a little longer and get the xpen artist pro 24 1440p We are in 2023 1440P should be the norm on tablet wider than 20 inches. I won't talk about those 4k tablet since it's just throwing money in the toilet . unless it's a 30 inches tablet. I am currently using an xp pen 13.3 pro and in krita ,it's not confortable, even when hiding the interface ,it feels limit, for mobile set up when you go visit a freind for a while or if you are travelling a lot,it's fine but in my case i do regret the size, In fact, i would love to see a 18 inches 1080p tablet
Wow this is a really solid alternative for folks who want an affordable setup similar to the cintiq What's it like to incorporate 3D into your process? Are you adding tons of hours modeling all these environment assets for a single painting?
@@yamapishy9792 for me and my back specifically it's not comfortable to paint on the monitor. And painting process didn't become better or easier with the drawing monitor.
This tablet looks like a really great option for an amateur (like myself) who desires a full size drawing screen without breaking the bank. I am curious however - I noticed that this unit is 2K (not full 4 K) - did you find this to be an acceptable resolution for working on very detailed illustrations? That is my only apprehension...
I basically make a lot of comparisons by price range. For the price this is really decent, maybe not as good as the similar huion model though. The 4k versions are better but far pricer and wacoms models are always better but you are paying at a premium. Basically with this kind of equipment you always get what you pay for
@@TylerEdlin84 Thank you very much, it is difficult to decide if there are so many options, so many details, if we only take into account 24", even so there are options "pus, pro, with or without buttons..." yes it is a little more expensive but they are better, like Do you choose? Difficult. 🤔
This xp-pen display is advertised with a contrast ratio of 3000:1. Such a high contrast ratio is only present in VA monitors, so I believe that the xp-pen artist 24 fhd screen is not an IPS. Have you noticed any problems in color perception, on such a large screen, when looking at them from one side of the opposite screen? Did they remain faithful to how he had used them or did his perception change depending on the inclination of his head relative to the screen? Thank you in advance. Stefano.
I honestly am not a tech oriented person I don’t know what contrast ratios, IPS etc is. I just draw on it from one angle and don’t have a problem. Yes the colors aren’t as good a $2000 plus tablet you get what you pay for though.
Hey Tyler when you incorporate 3D assets in your artwork, how do you go from Blender to Photoshop? Do you lay out everything as best you can in Blender and then render that image and do your painting in Photoshop? Thanks
@@TylerEdlin84 Hello Tyler. Having been trained as a traditional artist back in the 70s, I find that, with my initial drawings, I cannot get away from paper and also it pays for me not to constantly look into a light source because of light sensitivity so I hybridize. Say, for example, I like to use a lightbox for tracing, but I limit my time doing that! This pre-ramble leads me to my question which I've asked many times - and nobody seems to answer - can scanned drawings be imported onto these tablets? This looks like the most promising tablet that I've seen so far for my needs. Many thanks.
I’m a newbie who knows nothing. This video features more about the artist’s drawing and painting technique than the capabilities and compatabilities of the tablet itself.
@@TylerEdlin84 Like I said, I know nothing on this. What versions of Windows is it compatable with and what is the set up for drivers, etc? What versions of Photoshop is it compatable with and what drivers to set up, etc.? Sorry I know nothing on this, but I have been working with Photoshop for about 40 years. Thank you for any insight on my questions.
@@ellenvanpelt5947 like I’m said I’m not a person that knows tech in the slightest. Any tablet I have used works for with windows and Mac OS. Usually the version of photoshop doesn’t matter too much, I run 2022 for this.
@@TylerEdlin84 OK thanks for answering. I have very old Windows, very old laptop and very old Photoshop. They are very old like me. We have aged together, my old Photoshop and I, but it has served me very well. Will contact the manufacturer to see what they say about "how far back" their system can read. Thanks again...I would be too embarrassed to say exactly how old my stuff is....I see the dreaded "software rentals" (which I can't write off as a business expense) on the horizon.
@@ellenvanpelt5947the display itself has nothing to do with the software you are using (but sometimes the tablet doesn't work with certain software) but I asume that an old laptop will have trouble working at higher resolutions. If you can use photoshop on your laptop and doesn't crash, probably could use this monitor aswell. But you hve to check the manufacturer's site to check the minimum requirements.
I got the QHD (2K) 24” XP-PEN display tablet for just $600. I also got the ACK05 wireless remote - and my biggest pet peeve is not being able to disable the damn 3-second Bluetooth reset assigned to the K1 button! I thought mine was broken because it kept disconnecting - until I downloaded and read the actual manual to confirm it’s a feature, not a bug. So folks - don’t use the K1 key for anything that requires you to hold the key down! It’s ok to assign it to a single-key press though.
Im gonna do you a big favor. Do not use those dumb hotkey remotes, get a tourbox. You'll look at it and think its stupid and couldn't possibly work, but I've used every kind of remote till I tried that thing and it would have saved me a lot of time. What you need with shortcuts is intuitive muscle memory and you just cant get that with these grid based hot key remotes.
Were you able to get used to the pen on the QHD model? For some reason XP Pen used an extremely small and thin pen, with recessed side buttons for that model, while the FHD version seen above uses a larger more Wacom like pen.
It looks great, but what is it like using 1080P on that? I have a Cintiq 16 and would love a size up, but its also 1080p. I use nvidia's DRS to scale it to a larger resolution, and i suppose i could do that on this as well, but what are your thoughts? Should they've gone 1440p on this?
They do have a 2K version “QHD” (2560x1440). Working on the FHD version may be akin to working on the old CRT monitors of yore. Correct me if I’m wrong. I don’t have one so I can’t say for sure - but the 2K version I have is like I’m working on my old 2011 15” MacBook Pro with 1680x1050 screen - it’s not bad because I’ve been using that MacBook up until recently! Now I use a 32” 4K monitor together with the 25” 2K xp-pen display tablet on an M2 Mac mini.
I'm painting on ipad pro for 3 years. Is it worth it to switch for something else? That clutter in Photoshop worries me,I just want to draw without clicking hungreds of windows and tabs
I've read some reviews (not on the artist 24 fhd specifically) cautioning against pairing a pen display with mixed resolution monitors because of scaling issues. i see you have a multi display setup how's your experience with mirroring the artist 24 fhd to your monitors? I want to do a similar setup, qhd as my main and uhd for color correction and hdr, so hoping you can provide some wisdom on the subject
Both of the pens that came with my 22E Pro just failed (on the same day no less). I'll probably order a replacement and tech support said that it might be the USB cable... possible, but sounds unlikely. The LEDs have been getting dimmer and dimmer. Anyway, it might be time to upgrade to this Artist 24" FHD model. Do you know if it is compatible with a Surface Pro 2017?
Feature rich as they are, unfortunately these Xp Pen and Huion Screen Tablets simply do not last. The failure rate compared to cintiq is atrocious. Lines in screen, ribbon cable fails, no screen, etc. And worse yet, it seems to happen after the warranty ends! Hopefully this changes, but until it does, I cannot recommend them. I know so many that went back to their cintiqs. ): The non-screen based line is fine though. For screens I recommend cintiq , ipad pro, or samsung Galaxy Tab S line. If you really feel you must buy a kamvas or artist, get a 4 year protection warranty!
so i bought an xpen non screen tablet, one of their good ones too. the pen button would not work in hover mode so i couldnt navigate in 3d apps or use krita brush functions. so i uninstalled my wacom drivers reinstalled xpen and still had the issue. has anyone solved something like this? i really wanted to use the xpen tablet its got a nice form and nice touch but that kind of made me go back to my old wacom tablet.
Im not sure what exactly you mean, but i have a problem with the buttons on the pen itself(pen/eraser). Just don't use those and use the buttons on the tablet, that might be helpful if that's at all what you meant
i have an xp pen and i will warn people to avoid this like the plague, the damage it can do to your computer because of bad software is not fun. i have to have it disconnected entirely from my computer when it boots or else it bsod. there is no fix and as a customer i should not be asked to serve as beta tester which is what happened when i wrote and explained the problem
