I used to love the medibang app. it supports large canvas sizes without much lag and the brush textures are high quality and don't pixelate at large sizes, but one annoying thing turned me off about it: the ads are so intrusive! every time i save (on android) i would be flung into a 30 second unskippable ad. every time you'd click off to open another drawing you'd get another ad. back in the day, the ads were only when you first opened the app and hadn't opened a canvas.

I am also a artist currently using ibis paint as my favorite app, I don't know if it's because I am young but all the other apps and programs have such complicated set ups it just turns me off. I like ibis paint because it's so easy to manage! BTW nice vid so glad your back!

Omg, I never knew Medibang treated their apple users with Ads like that. I have pc and android so never saw them, but damn, yeah, id sign up and cancel the trial right after to get rid of it. As usual, most Gorgeous artwork 🤩💖

I always struggled with ibis, I find Medibang and procreate more of my style so it makes me feel comfortable drawing and easy to find things. Idk why I struggle with ibis 💀💀

see i was introduced to art by the gacha community and they mostly used Ibispant Clip Paint since then Ive found ibis to be much easier its basically a started app and Im a mobile and if u grew up in the 2000s adds aren that much to things we had to do and a lovely speedpaint and art

As a medibang desktop user I completely agree with this when I tried medibang mobile. Yes its not a ipad but it was still pretty bad. The drawings dont save your drawing if you are out of the app. Its very frustrating to use and its so small and cramped for no reason. Most of the things I use in medibang desktop are mostly hidden. I choose medibang desktop over mobile everytime now. But I still love drawing on phones etc so that sucks. I would rate the mobile ver a 3.5/10 its alright but man I had so many difficulties with it.

It was always so frustrating using medibang the first time I just used Ibis Paint until i found out about Procreate and CSP

I used to use Medibang aswell! I then started using ibispaint x and it became easier to use.

Medibang used to be so good and my go to art program but damn the subscription stuff killed it for me. I remember paying for no ads then they changed their model to no ads + no locked brushes for like $10 a month and i felt so uncomfortable with that. And there was also so much lag input for me. Ibispaint is much more forgiving with the way locked brushes worked, where there was a work around for people who couldn’t or didn’t want to put money into premium. And Infinite painter was a one time purchase with both being more simpler to use imo. I do miss medibang tho but its just not worth it when we have access to much better apps nowadays than we did when medibang first came out.

Not to mention, just like IbisPaintX, you have to pay for brushes and a subscription to get rid of ads. But, considering that Medibang is from Japan, idk if it takes USD.

Medibang paint has been a mess for a whole across platform but I say its worse for Apple users. They took a page from ibis in adding a unnecessary add space at the top of the drawing canvas, 😐 which is sleazy to me regardless. But while ibis had it from the get go (last I checked) ans across platforms as well as allowing you to pay one time to get rid of it, medibang proves to be worse by doing it on the actual canvas then removing the option to pay one time to get rid of it. Instead they CHANGED it from one time payment to being a perk of the premium subscription to further incentives users to gat said subscription for a brwif repreve from constant buggy adds. Buggy adds that can disrupt work from, bugs out saves and opening and closing canvases. Of which they have done nothing to fix. Oh, don't get me started on their cloud service. A lot of people received no warning that the free space on cloud would be shrunk and their work either destroyed, erased , hidden within the cloud service behind a paywall, or a combination of the three. If you didn't save your work locally and didn't want to pay the subscription , you were out of luck. I may prefer how the brushes behave in medibang, ans I like you can work with far more layers and make bigger canvas as ans it even has a new recording feature-im gonna have to day that for now ibis is better. Auto desk sketchbook is worth a glance ans is free as well. Whenever huion gets back up id give it a shot. But for now Medibang has disgusted me. Yeah its free. But its getting more technical in that aspect the more time goes by. Paying for taken away features and lower quality. Sorry, I was pretty bummed about all this.

I use medibang though I have a laptop so I don't get any ads. Weird that it pops up only on iPads.

I work on Medibang on my computer but i have Ibis paint X on my phone hehe

I started with paint tool SAI, then the brushes was kinda limited , then jumped to medibang on pc, it's nice but kinda still lacking on some stuff and had issues with memory storage since it couldn't read some files and corrupts some, on mobile it's nice,the issue with Android is that first it has closing ads and sometimes it saves the wrong version of a drawing , which takes me to, two, it creates MANY versions of a file depending of how many times you save exit. Then I got gifted csp and it's amazing 😍,sadly my pc was getting too old to run two windows at a time so ..later this year I got an iPad and , I tried csp but the premium subscription it's a turn off for me like Adobe like turn off, (and as an artist is your duty to pirate Photoshop at least once), so I took the bullet and went for procreate and honestly , not fucking, it's not vector base so you have to abstain for clip and cut and it's not exactly for BIG pieces since the layer limit depends on your ram of iPad but , not bad. Good purchase

I was so disappointed when medibang started premium and let go of just paying one time to get rid of ads n stuff o.o I used the app alot and there are certain brushes my other art programs dont have and that gives a certain style to my lineless art and I almost let medibang go completely because of it but those brushes it has that I use arent made yet for csp or procreate e.e so maybe when it is ill completely let it go o.o Also medibang does have ads for android at least the mobile version does , I always got em when closing a file it didnt bother me since I liked the app and could quickly get past the ads up till I paid for no ads...which surprisongly if you paid for the no ads thing before they started subs then you get to keep no ads o.o sadly i only paid for it on my mobile and not my ipad e.e

I still use it and very much love it, I paid about $4 for a few filters back in 2019 so I never really had an issue with ads since... well I yeeted then early on. I haven't bought anything else for the app

Ohw, I feel you! When I saw the subscription plan of Medibang Paint I was surprised because I remembered that long time ago they had a "one time purchase" (which was €8.99 circa) Even the time-lapse features feels a bit strange since you can watch it in a "frame preview" and if you want to check in its whole, you have to download the video first At the end, the pc version seem to be better than the app 🥹✨🌻

ads are definitely on android devices, I draw with a Samsung tablet and I get the ads

MediBang mobile ads are dumb and the limited storage is stupid. I just use it on my pc, ain’t gotta buy the space I just download it to my computer. It’s so easy to use and I will use it until I die

I feel like Ibis Paint people talk about, is not the same for Android and IPad in the same way Medibang Paint is. I HATE Ibis Paint on Android. It is so useless. While Medibang is amazing. I bought it a long time ago with a one time purchase and don't have to pay for it every month. I will agree with the canvas statements as there are a lot of pop up screens, but in the same way you get use to them going away, you get use to clicking them off. TLDR: If you're on Android, I would personally, highly recommend Medibang. It has a lot of nice functions and reminds me of a "cheap photoshop". It even recently introduced a new "art recording" function. So, I personally really enjoy it.

Preferably Medibang Paint Pro is better on PC than IPad
