I've watched this video over and over since it was posted. I LOVE it. The part where she explains how frosted shadows bring light to the look just triggered something in me and now I understand makeup in a new way. Thank you for pushing me artistically!
i loved the way she used the frost shadow to 'smooth' out and finish off the corner, the way she explained things made me see applying shadows in a very different way. i love it!
okay, I love mac products and I'm sure the quad is great, obviously. but this look... I hate to be mean, but it's so strong and reminds me of my mom in the 80s. oops.
People, makeup is for self expression, and fun. If she wants to wear this look, it's fine.(I also admire people that do these looks, because they know makeup is NOT to make you look prettier or presentable)
Chantel, is a very talented and experienced makeup artist! All her mac videos have not only been helpful but make u think different about makeup! A classic smoky eye would of been just boring! An 1980's blue eye with matching nails was fab! Love chantel!
The amount of people freaking out is insane. They stopped listing products because all anyone heard was "Waaaah, I can't afford all those colours, therefore I can't do that look". It's about being creative. The brushes appear to be #213 #217 & #239. The colours she used are Electric Eel, Atlantic Blue and Moon's reflection. This is MAC. Incase anyone doesn't know, that's Makeup Art Cosmetics, not "makemelooklikeKimK".
Maybe the camera angles weren't great for actually seeing her eye shadow, but I still think this video was helpful. Listening to her just talk about makeup was interesting.
I appreciate bold color and experimentation with makeup, and I love editorial looks. However, this look made me think of Mimi from the Drew Carey Show!
Sheesh don't everyone jump on the hate on MAC bandwagon all at once now.. MAC is a nonconformist brand. They always have been known to push the envelope. Their videos are here to inspire, get creative! MAC pushes their artists as well as their customers to explore new techniques
Make up is about art!! It doesn't have to be beauty "cookie cuter" makeup, makeup has NO rules! It's art! Step out of your comfort zone lady's! And understand that every ARTIST is different
I'm left with the feeling after watching any MAC vid that I would want to run out and buy more MAC product. The focus on 'the look' seems to be less the idea than highlighting the products themselves. I will continue to buy MAC makeup because many of their are affordable and they work but I've moved on from expecting thier vids to actually be educational. There are many other channels that deliver better educational tutorials. As in the case with this video, I never was able to see the full finished look front on, which just might have inspired me to try and buy. Oh well!
They're not supposed to be educational. Mac isn't a youtube beauty guru, Mac literally stands for 'makeup-art cosmetics'. Keyword: Art. The looks reflect the bold, brilliant and beautiful looks that are donned on the catwalk at the time.
I love MAC, but I haven't learned much from this video. It should be filmed up closer and she should have her hair pinned oy of the way while applying.
MAC i get the idea of color but with the editing is so choppy you can't see what the artist is doing...seeing the eyeshadow quad 10 times is over board we your audience wants to SEE the TUTORIAL not all chopped up.
Hahhahahahaha some comments are so on point! "Crack whore makeup" "Mimi from Drew Carey" omg so on point! Anyone who thinks this is creative is brainwashed by Mac. It's terrible all around. The camera work, colors, bangs, she looks a hot mess. These are hilarious to watch!
The makeup artist gave some great advice if you bothered to listen. Three brushes, three colours and do whatever you like with whatever colour you like. Quit your trolling.
if you want to see an everyday work makeup go to your nearest mac store... watching a video like that would be super boring. This is clearly an editorial look from a backstage mac senior artist. listen close and her tips are there. stop trolling if you don't understand.
The funny thing is if u wear this look for a MAC job interview would be told "thanks but no thanks"...no shade but this look is not flattering for bangs there
I think we all want a real tutorial and list of products in case we want what we see which is part of the reason we watch. The application and technique notes are great but why not give it all, some focus and zooming in perhaps to really see. I notice it with all these videos. There are some who really want to learn the whole concept. It's not more to add/do. I enjoy but can see the frustration. If you care about the consumer and listen for goodness sake. Without us what is there????
Mac, get your act together. These videos do not work. We want to see what the makeup artist is doing. That means fixed camera focued on her face (without any clever angles or effects). She putting on her make up with the face looking straight into the camera. She mentions and shows the products as she goes along. It is not too difficult. If you need a good example check Lisa Eldridge - that's the way to do it. These videos are soooo unhelpful and really annoy the viewers.
I love MAC products but guys you need to change your style of filming as it is very disengaging and explain in more detail what products, tools and techniques your using
İdea is good look is good artist is good but what is wrong with the cameraman????if there is a show going , its ok....but if its about teaching , whole mac videos means nothing...sorry...:(
The first application she makes is to put eye-cream on the eye that's farthest away from the camera and hidden from view because there isn't enough light. You've just set the tone for the rest of the video. In other words, you cannot see what she is doing or how to duplicate it. What is the point of your videos Mac? Are they tutorials? Are they inspirational? I'm not learning anything here. Don't put anything else out until Romero Jennings has taken over.
This is some of the worst application of blue eyeshadow I have ever seen....I get it if you are trying to do a fashion shoot but if you are telling everyday people to wear this then this is only going to draw stares!
Really?!? Common this look does not translate to an everyday wear... Maybe avant garde or runway with the right styling but def not to the public- even for the most daring make up wearers.... I'm sorry I'm trying to imagine and like it but I can't
