I've been a model builder for over 60 years and I like to think I'm pretty good at it. I have many Artitec buildings on my N scale train layout but I do not have the skills needed to build that! What a great model!
Thanks for the comment. It was quite a challenge and the first model boat I have ever done! To be honest my near vision has deteriorated in the past year, so I don't think I could do it without a magnifier or varifocals now. Do you have anywhere I can see your layout?
@@GrimWillows No, I'm afraid. It's set in Germany in Era 3 and is pretty big-it fills the biggest room in my apartment. I don't know how to post pictures to YT.
@@GrimWillows I think for most model railroaders the late steam and early diesel is always going to be popular. Here in North America that would be the late 1930s to 1960. In Europe that period lasted a lot longer. Same goes for cars on the streets- Lots of air-cooled VWs, but no VW Jettas.
Yeah I saw so many variations in replicas, when trying to make plans, a few years back. This model has (had?) an alternative waterline version for Railway dioramas.
The kit is only around 80 Euros. I really enjoyed making this and I took my time over the course of a month. Done mostly on Weekend afternoons, relaxing and catching up on podcasts. Not sure if i'd want to do it again at the same scale. If it was a larger scale I'd be tempted :)
Superbe réalisation , bravo , auriez vous des conseils pour procéder , je vais recevoir la mienne et j'aimerais avoir le rendu de la vôtre . Quelle peinture avez vous utilisez , matériel , je débute , merci

@@GrimWillows I am pleasantly surprised by the lasting popularity of this boat, particularly with the extreme detail modellers! Now to put your boat in a diorama!
Thanks, I wish I'd done it with higher quality photos at the end! Are you in Europe? I think I imported mine from Germany to the UK. The only was I could find it As Artitec direct was always out of stock. I'll have a little browse in my emails to see where I purchased it from. There was no import fee, just a small fee (less than £5) with my bank for converting to euro.
I got mine from modellbahnunion dot com but they don't even have it listed now. You get results by google searching Artitec 50.143 (that is the model number) Usually comes up in smaller model railway shop stock. Most seem to be out of stock tho. Might get lucky with ebay but be wary of over priced sellers and high shipping costs. Might be an idea to contact artitecshop and ask if they intend to restock the item? Good luck :)
@@GrimWillows I am in the United States. Everywhere I look, this model is out of stock or sold out. I hope that they re release this kit someday. Thank you for sharing your build with us. It looks terrific!
