On April 4, 2024, Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC) unveiled the architectural design for the Arts Commons Transformation expansion - a new building featuring a new 1,000-seat theatre and 200-seat studio theatre, and 162,000 SF of new space.
This project is the kind of dramatic transformation that defines the future of a city. Integral to Calgary’s downtown confluence of culture and creativity, the Arts Commons Transformation (ACT) project will be a catalyst to Calgary’s creative future- a vision of pride, vibrancy and prominence on the world stage.

It would be a shame to lose the pool/skating rink. It's an icon. Otherwise I fully support this project!

Calgary MLC is offering us a survey to see how we would like Olympic Plaza redeveloped. The brickwork is starting to crumble. But the community space will remain enact.

for the love of god please do not get rid of the skating rink!! skating in downtown during the winter is one of the best things, I'd miss it so much and I know i'm not alone

Looks like they're just trying to get rid of any public spaces and disguising it as "helping the art community" bummer...

Leave the Olympic park alone, the greenery is much more beautiful than the envisioned monstrosity.

Why this cant be built on one of the parking lots of which there are plenty in downtown core? Why tear down a historic park with mature trees for something that can be built pretty much anywhere in the city? Not to mention the poor design of the proposed building.
