Thanks so much! This beast has been a mystery to me since 1988 when I took an electronic music class in college.

I don't think anyone ever really 'tames' the Arp, but hopefully now it won't bite your head off ;)

I can't thank you enough for this series. For me, by taking baby-steps you're bringing this machine to life; it was quite overwhelming to open this up after having just played with very basic synths.

You're very welcome, thanks for the kind feedback. I agree, this remains the most daunting synth I've tackled to date, but it was sooo worth it

also its brillant you can use osc 2 as a LFO, it gives a unique sound thats not quite the same as the actual LFO :)

im on oso sinus 1, and i cant fingure out why the release isnt active, i turned it up on the AR, it will play the sound then when i release it, it will play regular pitch (im messing with the adsr on the fm) but then when i turn up release only on adsr and not ar it doesnt do anything, any thoughts why? EDIT: was trying to imitate what you did with the release at 8:10

i think i understand it more from messing with it, the release on ADSR is the fade off, and the release in AR is just how long the sound will play after let go

Just like most things with the ARP, messing with it is the way to go! It's all about the routings. By default, that particular preset is normalled to use the AR envelope on the VCA, so the Release slider controls the release of the note. The ADSR envelope, however, is normalled to the VCF, which you can hear quite clearly if you change the Osc from Sin to (say) Saw.
