Hello, Chris! The short answer is that it will work as a MIDI controller with BeatMaker 3, but it will require a pretty extensive setup. This video explains how to set it up with another controller, but all the same info will apply to the pads on the BeatStep: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-29ycWb-GAZ4.html Thanks for the interest! Hello! You cannot connect the Arturia Beatstep to a phone, it won't run or control an audio app. You'd want to either connect this to a computer running a DAW software, or to a hardware synthesizer via MIDI or CV. If you'd like to go into more detail, please call my number below. Thanks for your interest! Nick LaMendola, Senior Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1660, nick_lamendola@sweetwater.com
Hello, WideOpenChange! The Arturia Beatstep is not officially supported for use with an iPad. I do not follow your second question, but you may find the answer within the quick start guide: www.arturia.com/support/beatstepproquickstart If not, do please give us a call! That would be a nice demo to see, but considering this is Sweetwater's avenue for showing off cool new gadgets you can use with iOS gear, the iPad makes sense. Who knows, maybe Daniel Fisher will do something with this.
he was using standard synth aps, the biggest issue with some controllers is power so having a power hub may a good idea. The best app to try out different controllers is gadjet, put it in advance midi mode and be amazed what you can do
Hi, Greg! Thanks for the interest. There's no XY functionality on the Beatstep, but you can assign any of the pads to toggle between two values on any MIDI CC #. For more details, take a look at Arturia's user manual here: downloads.arturia.com/products/beatstep/manual/BeatStep_Manual_1_0_1_EN.pdf Hope this helps, and feel free to contact me directly with any further questions!
