I got to play an Uno Drum recently and I think I’m sold. It’s fun, intuitive, and quite a bit more versatile than the Drumbrute. Having parameters locks with pitch for each sound adds a lot dynamics to a performance. The PCM samples adds a lot to the diversity to the range genres you can perform, and each sound has tone, pitch, and decay as well as a few specific to that sound, all of which can be locked. The Drumbrute is more fun to play and the FM drum and individual outs it’s a big win, but I think I’m gonna go with the Uno.

I have the Drumbrute Impact and it is an amazing machine. Easy to use and ideal for live playing as well as studio work. Pity you didn't show the FM drum.

It's the Uno for me hands down. You're not limited to what you can dial-in on the Drum Brute. The Uno offers collections of almost every 70s and early a few early 80s drum machine created. Lots of control over the sounds as well.

The Uno seems more versatile but the Impact seems more fun. The PCM samples and parameter locks on the Uno is very tempting but the pads, distortion, and and individual outs of the Impact is tempting as well.

I'd say Drumbrute Impact for the studio and Uno for live. The drumbrute has way more hands on control, and overall better sounds (for me) so I think it's way better to sound design something that fits a song, and the uno has all those performance tools that would make it easier to use in a live rig. Overall winner for me is the Drumbrute though, the layout and workflow seem much easier and much more attractive, it just makes you wanna use it, whereas the uno...not so much.

You'd better not sweat too much on the uno... The buttons don't work when wet. Not ideal for topless techno sessions.

I’m trying to decide between the 2 for my drum machine. I’m really wanting something with playable pads but the parameter locking and PCM samples of the Uno is very tempting.

Since the pads on the UNO are not velocity sensitive, I don't think it is the ideal machine for live. In the studio it kicks every analogue or digital drum machine I heard in this millennium.

Not a fair test when the Drumbrute's volume level is almost HALF the level of the UNO in most of this video.

DrumBrute all the way. Individual audio outs for kick, snare, hat, etc, and more user friendly size. Even on a budget, you can get a "like new" DrumBrute for 229 usd while it's difficult to find a used Uno.

Got the Uno for roughly 100 euros at a sale from a company going bankrupt. Didn't know shit about it, but figured that it would be a fun apparatus to play with. I do think the Arturia fits me alot better, but those fekkers were long gone when I got to the sale. Also got the Volca Sample and a few older models of Pocket Operators at the same sale. I was on the hunt for rack modules.. no such things was left but I think I did pretty good anyway. Haven't had much time to play with the Uno yet tho, but I like that it comes with a full set of adapters and that it's portable and easy to use. Quality wise I don't think that it's worth the original asking price.

Uno Drum is half the price of the Impact right now. Since this video they (IK Uno) came out with the Anthology which means you can install a whole lot of old drum machine sounds to it, including yer 606, yer 808, and yer 909. They've even got a Simmons SDV and that weird old Soviet pedal thing. And with the editor app you get access to all the controls, which can be assigned to a midi controller or you can just use your mouse/touchscreen for realtime twiddling. I might grab a couple to mod and sell on while they're cheap.

@@deroden724 You need a big retailer having a sale. Andertons has it for £149. Amazon did have it for for £139 but it's at 189 there now. in the US apparently Musicians friend has been selling them for $170 in their ebay store. Maybe half was a bit of an exaggeration.

dmt Handmade: "(IK Uno) came out with the Anthology" That's is why i kept my first UNO Drum after winning a second one. The best out of up to three worlds in one tune. Thumbsup IK.

Blimey! Jack, another top notch gear review. I'd take the Drumbrute Impact over the Uno any day of the week. I was miffed the Uno didn't have proper pads. Looks like playing an i phone. "I dig it like a West Country Mule!" Nice one, Jack. I'm getting a T-shirt with that. It's me new motto. Live to work. Work to party. Party to live.

I don't think you gave the Uno a fair shake, each voice has multiple PCMs (in addition to the selection that offer an analog voice). Also supports MIDI CC programming and program change messages for different kits.

On the other hand, the Uno has a single output, where you have 5 outs on the Drumbrute impact (main mix + 4 dedicated)

Knarf Sondiers That makes the Impact so tempting for me. Being able to add a phaser to the hats, reverb on the snare, and distortion on the bass is huge.

@@HotStrange You have individual FX on UNO too. And UNO has Audio In, so you can run another instruments applying it's internal effects. Apparently, you can run one drummachine through another :) That would be nice Also 8-parameter automation per step, 100 patterns/kits presets and roll/stutter random as in Drumbrutes are really tempting

I just never gel with Arturia stuff, their synths are ok but this drum brute, the drum sounds just seem wrong most of the time. Maybe because more of the voices are synthesized and not samples? I mean, that clap just sounds like a bad stand-in for a real clap. I kind of liked the Uno, then decided nah, why do I need that, I got tr-8, rhythm wolf, and Tempest... but it does have a unique sound and is pretty snappy!

Drumbrute Impact is super nice but...sadly the sounds are very limited and gets boring pretty quickly. And no param locks no nothing. Individual outs mean you need many wffects and pedals and cables and weight and mixer channels...it's just too much hassle sadly. I'm just selling mine and wish Arturia come out with the same thing and layout but as a sampler so you can change the sounds. Cos the layout is very good for a drum machine.
