They got the right musician (J3PO) to demo these patches...the actual owner of the hardware version of this software. As always, great playing and hats off to Arturia for capturing the essence of this classic keyboard. Got Mine.
3 weeks in and this is the BEST Arturia preset pack that Ive ever purchased.. All the sounds are so rich and lush and have used them in all my productions since.. Major upgrade in the quality of sound.. More Arturia packs pleaseee??🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
#J3PO, I’ve already ordered/downloaded these based off of hearing them here. There are a lot of very useful patches here, and the best part I’d say is that they remind me of why I have the OB-Xa V in the first place (it’s the only soft synth, besides Arturia’s excellent Pigments, that I have in its fullest form). Thank you for that. Off to explore more…
Lovely patches indeed. I also used used to own this instrument so I know it well and yes I agree Arturia have done a very fine job with this for sure. Your patch library has got some really nice sounds in it. Well done.
How certain are you this is going to happen? I can buy a good looking and well maintained OB-8 for a good price. It's like a now or never situation. I just want one BIG and especially BLUE Oberheim poly in my rig. I would feel really terrible if Sequential come out with just that; a big blue OB-Xa after i just bought the OB-8. If they do the OB-X in grey I wouldn't be sad for buying the OB-8 cause OB-X is grey :) I prefer the OB-Xa over the 8. I'd rather have a slight better sound than more modulation specs. If I now buy the OB-8 and then Sequential does the OB-Xa I am sure prices of the OB-8 will decrease instantly cause the OB-Xa is overall the more desirable synth for most people. This question is really killing me; will they do a reissue and if so, will it be an OB-X in grey or an OB-Xa in the superior blue. I know, first world problems here :)
Something interesting I've been noticing in reverse engineering many of your sounds is that you often either leave the adsr of the amp envelope very "fat" (max sustain) which is something I haven't been doing but am now noticing that it's part of what's been sabotaging some of my sounds and making them sounding kind of weak. I've went back adjusted many sounds I've made that I like with this as an option and have taken to relying more heavily on the filter envelope for getting more of the core sound and it's made a world of difference.
goddamn, didn't even think twice, already got them!! Incredible playing man! How did you modulate the pitch in chords without using the pitch or mod wheels? 🤯 it seemed to only do it when you wanted to!
Wondering if I need to buy the stand-alone Arturia OP-Xa(pictured on J3PO's website as "OB-Xa) to use these patches or will the OP-Xa in my V Collection load these patches?
Hey @j3po I purchased the preset pack but I can't import it, I'm using the new V Collection where the VST is shown as "OP-Xa V" - is that part of the issue?
@2:04 that lead sounds like this Jill Scott song where George Duke plays a solo...at the exact same minute mark @2:04! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eKjQ1OWUALQ.html
While I believe that no software emulation will ever capture every single detail and nuance of the original hardware, Arturia has a done a great job with this virtual synth, paying homage to the original Oberheim OB-Xa. With the additional features, modulation, and array of quite superb digital effects that the Arturia OB-Xa has to offer, this instrument has become a go-to synth in my digital arsenal. Similar to Sequential's new "vintage knob," the Arturia OB-Xa has controls under the hood to give variation to each voice, including pitch, filter envelope, filter cutoff, and more. WARNING!!! These patches will not sound the same when you play them. Oh….they will have the exact sonic quality you hear here, but your novice noodling will not do these patches justice😂😂😂😂😂😂
