i have hardware syths (fantom 88, SE-02, D05, DM12, etc) and some SW synths and I spent a ton of time getting close to that seductive sound in blade runner, but just couldn't without a CS80 V. I had the V3 but Arturia upgraded it to a V4 because I just bought it. I would have thought that the Fantom, with all the model expansions could dupe anything but it couldn't. I have N/zyme but only tried a little while with that. Zencore came the closest because it has three partials with two vco and filters per, sort of like the CS80 architecture. With all the modulation and effects in the DM12, I would think you to be hard pressed to find a tone it couldn't dupe close enough. But I bought the V3 thinking it was a V4 and Arturia was nice enough to give me the later version. It sounds fantastic. I'm using a mac M1 mini, Steinberg UR242 interface, B&W Nautilus speakers and decent stereo bi-amped with a decent mixer for switching only. Great vid.

Same here. I bought the V3. It's insulting to me that a company would still sell an inferior product as the upgrade rolled out. I've just emailed them. lol.

Absolutely upgrade. It's like a different synth to the last one. I'm guessing the person who said no to your question doesn't own it, probably trialled for a bit, never played with it, and like so many on the net gave an opinion without much basis. This is by far the closest you will get to a CS80 sound. And things like the ring mod. and other performance effects are very close to the real CS80.

Great job explaining this complicated synth. I am demoing. Thinking about upgrading. Also check out memory moon ME 50. $40, real light on cpu.

kinda in the same boat. I haven't bothered to test the sound out side by side. But the old version of this synth felt a little Digi to me, but it still worked in certain areas

I agree. The older version had some really cool presets but creating sounds from scratch is a pain. The newer version is a lot easier.

Yeah, even Arturia CS80 V3 owners are being asked for $49 to upgrade to CS80 V4, don't think there's enough there to justify an upgrade, V3 is pretty amazing as it is, I'd rather add Cherry Audio's take on the CS.

Guitar Center has the V Collection 9 for $299. That comes to $9.33 per plugin.

@@zyxyuv1650 I already have a legion of analog synth VST's and besides(nothing in the V-Collection compares to CA's GX-80, as the GX-80 is made up of both the Yamaha GX-1 and the CS-80.) NOBODY else offers this type of sound-set in a VST.
