Has there ever been a fighter with more guts than gatti? I dont think so, always entertaining, why he filled out the arenas, people loved him, I did for sure, rip arturo
I watch the Gatti Vs Ward trilogy every single day and till this day i never new about this fight. Just as a motivational gesture to one's self about the heart every man should have when facing the challenges of life and how we should approach every possible obstacle in such a manner, Atturo Gatti was and will always be a great fighter, and as many say "We will never see fights like this ever again". Much respect to both men for the warrior's heart they brought into this fight. Respect...
I saw auturo Gatti in Florida in late 2007. It wasn't in the best of conditions. Both of his hands were broken/bad shape and he was in a bad way. But even with both hands broken and not always in it mentally he always took the time to say hi and greet everybody. One time a couple people gave him a hard time, and he looked at them and said (I'll never forget this) "you could wish you'd be as lucky as me to live the life I've lived but no genie would grant you that wish" and he smiled and turned away.
Shit, 1996 had some AMAZING fights: Marco Antonio Barrera vs. Kennedy McKinney; Marco Antonio Barrera vs. Junior Jones 1; Kevin Kelley vs. Derrick Gainer; Arturo Gatti vs. Wilson Rodriguez; Evander Holyfield vs. Mike Tyson 1, and Pernell Whitaker vs. Wilfredo Rivera 2.
This absolutely hands-down was the fight of the year. No other fight compared with this & Even the great Emmanuel Stewart said it was the greatest Fight he ever seen
This boy was something else! My god, how many blows have exchanged these two ? This match was wild, really one of the most incredible match I've ever seen!
@@mrrick9358 Rodriguez was a top in his time, Patterson was a top, Gatti's flaw? He had too much energy, he could not manage them balancing them with an excellent defense, if he had structured himself with a good defense he would have won other belts, but he was too generous, he had excess energy that led him to ignore the amount of blows he received, he was impatient as a boxer but with an extraordinary attack and a phenomenal left, great boxer!
NIce KNOCKOUT by GATTI, But EVERY bodyshot GATTI threw was a LOWBLOW & The REF done nothing. Eventually, it's going to open up the left hook to the head. RODRIGUEZ is a GOOD Fighter with HEART.
Ward was beaten throughout the first match, dealt with the first, second, third, fourth, sixth, seventh and tenth rounds, and you will understand what I mean, ward beat Gatti only in the ninth round, just because he had more energy saved, all here! in fact the second and third matches confirm my thesis! otherwise you are right when he decided to box it was much more effective but less fun, vs Ward 2 and vs Lejia, unfortunately Artruro got impatient, he wanted to spend all the energy he had, he was not thrifty with his energies this exposed him to returns of the opponent who often found him unprotected!
Arturo Gatti is one of the world's toughest boxers, and has successfully become world champion. Too bad he has died in an unnatural way, may he be at peace with his Father in heaven, Amen.🙏
Gatti hit Rodriguez multiple times low leading to Rodriguez shifting his arm down multiple times to block the low blows which allowed Gatti to connect more on top. Not one of his cleaner fights.
I saw one low Gatti punch. You are flat dreaming. Rodriguez's trunks are high. Rodriguez also hit Gatti low once. Your idea of what is low is way wrong.
The low blows in this fight were outrageous. Gatti landed no fewer than 10. And not even borderline shots. RIGHT ON THE CUP shots, and Rodriguez just took em. Horrible reffing.
Low blows above average but it can happen, the target is always in motion ... some low blows are normal, what is essential is that it is not voluntary and Arturo did not give low blows voluntarily.Rodriguez admitted at the end of the match that it is not never been centered, he was not bothered by the involuntary blows he received
@@sheruffa6032 Oh they definitely were not intentional. Gatti wasn't ever dirty like that, but they still do big damage. I can't believe Rodriguez took some of those and kept fighting. Tough guy for sure.
I saw that fight in the Madison Sq Garden.Nobody had more guts. The guy was a warrior he should never have gone to Brazil and should have divorced his wife long before then.
One of my top 3 favourite fighters of all time, ok he didnt have the skill of a fighter such as Mayweather but man got he take a beating and still come back with a thunderous punch. Could you see Mayweather taking punches like that and surviving to knock the guy out, no, thats why Mayweather fights the way he does.
Do fighters like Gatti & Wilson ever even consider "Defense" as part of their game? I mean, to just stand right in front of your opponent w. virtually no horizontal body movement, no ducking, no bobbing & weaving, that HAS to be a recipe for ultimate brain damage down the line & a shortened career. .................Yes, it makes for a much more exciting fight, guess you could say "War", but these guys were more "fighters" than "Boxers", at least IMHO. ...................I'd much rather see a technical Boxer like a "Sweet Pea Whittaker" who knew not only offense but DEFENSE too! This was more like a "Rocky" movie or Rock-em-Sock'-em Robots. Keep throwing fast & furious until you finally catch your opponent w. something flush & hope they fall.
I understand you too I made the same observation, coming from the match against mayweather, I could not believe in the level of attack and heart of these boxers, who fought without sparing themselves to the end, I must admit that floyd matches never sent me the emotions that these boxers, Barrera, Gatti, Morales, were able to convey, were incredible from this point of view, I believe they are boxers like them who bring fans closer to this sport, and lead children to practice, driven by the exciting matches of these great boxers !
There's boxers an there's fighter's ? An there's the Elite few who do both better than most !! Like ! Alexis Arquello, Eric Morales, Arturo Gatti, Mr Pacquiao An my favourite, JMM, at this weight ?
I'd rather watch a gatti fight than a mayweather fight all day long, I guess it depends on what you want, defensive skills or all out aggression and bravery, ideally both like Salvador sanchez but not many like them about
