Arya's story is actually incredibly sad. She's seen as badass, which I don't deny she is, but she's been through so much stuff. She saw her father's execution, witnessed gruesome things that occured during The Red Wedding, not to mention that she made her first kill when she was only a child and that she lost many parts of her identity while in Braavos. She deserves to get her happy ending, and I hope it will be with Gendry.

I think Arya's story in S8, now that she's reuniting with her family, will be finding her lost humanity again, and not plummeting down a path of darkness after all the traumatic experiences that she's suffered through. Already kind of began at the end of S7, hopefully will continue on.

If the faceless men wanted Arya to stay they only needed to say: "You are a wizzard Arry" maybe while changing their face or so to bring the point home.

Maybe she'll kill the Night King with a dagger and sail west. That's some good detective work.

This is such a good character analysis, and really puts into perspective - concisely - how stark the change in Arya is. From a young kid who just wanted to become a knight to a lethal killer who bakes men into pies. She’s my favorite, but I think it’s kind of the point to grieve for her innocence. To grieve for what she could have been if life hadn’t dealt her family such a shit hand. And it makes me question whether she’ll make it out alive, given how her arc is now so fundamentally rooted in death & revenge.

Hear me out: All religious factions played a very specific role in killing the Night King. >The many faced god produced assassin Arya. >The Lord of Light revived Beric a million times over to save Arya. Mel told Arya point blank she's the one. Mel also confirmed that Beric was kept alive for this moment of saving Arya. >The Seven saved Sandor Clegane, who saved Arya. Same as above. >The drowned god via Theon, who "rose again harder and stronger," and protected Bran, bought Arya time. >The old gods via the 3ER (Bran) gave Arya Catspaw. Catspaw's history (the dagger) is deeply tied with the first two books and seasons. Its the reason why the war of the five kings started, and it led to Arya's arc and every single other characters arc, culminating to that moment. It bridges the politics of Westeros we loved early in the series/books with the WW. Bran has echoed this idea a few times, and this seems to be a theme of the season: everything these characters have done has made them who they are and led them to this moment. In that way, its as if everyone played a role in the events leading to killing the Night King. The preceding seasons were not for nothing - they hardened these characters and filtered out the weak. Catspaw punctuates that. I rest my case.

I don't know what I'm more excited for, the last episode of GoT, or the inevitable episode analysis by Alt Shift X afterwards.

See, I've seen so many people say Arya is ungrateful and that she wouldn't have survived what Sansa did... but I'm kinda like, on the scale of things the starks who are still alive went through, Sansa did not have it as bad as the rest. Her suffering was definitely terrible, but many times her beauty got her through it. I feel like Arya had to claw her way through. But I'm glad they settled things cuz they each have skills the other doesn't have. Anyway, I like how you present Arya's experiences through the eyes of trauma in what she's seen and done. That humanizes her a lot as we tend to forget all the things she went through to survive even though she's still so young

Just a side note- arya doesn't want to kill sansa, she's playing the game of faces, trying to make a lie seem like the truth, which is why she hands sansa the dagger at the end of the scene where she tells sansa she 'wonders what it would be like to be the lady of Winterfell'. This shows sansa that arya is on her side (along with Bran telling sansa about littlefinger's crimes) and so sansa starts to play along with littlefinger's games in order to make him feel safe and not get suspicious, until she sentences him to death with her siblings' help. Arya's behaviour is confusing throughout the season, and I think at first there is a bit of rivalry between her and sansa, but what Arya is trying to do is help sansa to see her enemies: people who threaten the Stark name.

Arya died in that dark room. The faceless men were training to become her. They played the faceless game with her so many times they know everything about her and how she feels about everyone. They will finish her list for her but spare people like the hound because she said she wanted him to die and then she didn’t. Show runners said three things will shock us this entire series. First was Shireen’s burning, second was Hodor and I think third will be Arya’s fate.

I loved Arya since beginning but her character became dull after all that no one storyline. She still is amazing but book Arya will probably be way better than show. This rush for the end has made amazing characters like Arya and Tyrion really bad. I hope there is great and better role for both of them

The season seven scene at Winterfell between Arya and Sansa was not Arya threatening Sansa. First off you must understand that Arya has always been about Family, sure she has her disagreements with her family but they are still her family, or pack if you like as Arya is constantly surrounded by wolf imagery. The scene starts with Arya surprising Sansa after Sansa discovers Arya's Face collection. Then during the conversation Arya tells Sansa about the Game of Faces, and how the object is to convince the player asking the questions that you are being completely honest when in reality you are lying to them. It is during this 'game' that Arya talks about killing Sansa and taking her place, I again remind you the point of the game is to convince the other person ( in this case Sansa) that you are being honest and we can see that all the hand beatings she got from the Waif have paid off, Arya is convincing ( she had the majority of Game of Thrones watchers convinced that she wanted to kill and take Sansa's place, and then the same people got all confused when later in the episode Arya and Sansa are working together). While Arya and Sansa are playing the 'game' Arya walks over and picks up the cats paw's dagger. Arya is still playing the "Game of Faces" as she approaches Sansa telling her that all she needs to do is take Sansa's face and she, Arya, could be the Lady of Winterfell. Arya has ALWAYS maintained that she DOES NOT wan to be a Lady of a Castle (Ned says Holdfast but it means the same), so anyone who knows Arya knows this threat to Sansa is a lie, but the purpose of the 'game' is to convince the asker that you are being honest. Once Arya get close enough to Sansa to be able to kill her with the dagger Arya just flips the dagger around hands to Sansa and turns her back to Sansa and walks away. I believe the dagger to be key to understanding this scene, When Arya picks it up and points it at Sansa it represents the dangers to Sansa in Winterfell ( Littlefinger in particular ) and that those dangers are maneuvering to get close to strike, When Arya flips the dagger and turns to walk away she that represents that Sansa is now armed and protected from those dangers because Arya is here and will fight and kill to protect her family. Now people ask why didn't Arya just say that to Sansa? Prior to this interaction between Arya and Sansa we watch as Arya watches Littlefinger talking to the staff of the castle and giving them coins, for all Arya knows ALL THE CASTLE STAFF is spying on them for Littlefinger so this conversation is most likely being listened in on so Arya must be subtle and hope that Sansa is quick enough on the uptake to figure out what is going on and in the scene where Sansa calls Arya into the great hall we see that Sansa was indeed able to understand what Arya was 'telling her'.

GRRM and his novel series A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones changed things forever, there is no going back.

I'd love to see a recap on the Hound. He's my favorite character and I really like the complexity of his arc.

Word 👍 (BTW; I realize this has nothing to do with Arya lol but that weird, "Maggy the frog," fortune-telling witch lady told Cersei that she would have 3 children, "Gold their Crowns, and gold their shrouds." but, including the child she had with Robert Baratheon, her, "little black haired beauty," that she told Catelyn had, "tried to beat the fever that took him," in the second episode of season 1, and subsequently died when only a few months old, Cersei has had FOUR children. The so-called, "prophecy," was essentially rendered completely null and void the day that Tommen was born. (It seems like ALOT of people forget about that.) I see more reference to that supposed, "prophecy," (and the, "Valonqar," part that is only mentioned in the books,) to support people's Incessant theories than anything else they're speculating about for the show's final season, it's like I'm taking crazy pills lol it's Kindergarten-level math! Whether she's pregnant or not, and whether or not she loses the baby before it's born, if she is, is totally irrelevant because the Maggy the Frog is WRONG. Cersei has already had four children.)
