I love these videos! They show us how these caring, dedicated people successfuly integrate orphaned babies into a troop giving them a second chance at a normal monkey life! Watching the activities of ALL of them, in a protected sanctuary, is heart warming as well. Such totally delightful critters!

Now how do you get milk to the adopted babies? Not all of the Mom monkeys have milk do they? Oh now I see the feeding cages for the babies. What a good thing you guys are doing for these little guys.

What a fantastic episode! Getting to see the squirmy, bitey monkies who are not altogether on board for the treatments they need and the dedication of the staff to make sure they get said treatments. Our man Floki seems to be coming along great, little Yolanda absolutely certain she doesn't need that annoying sling anymore, and handsome little Mini Max hugging..Ellie, was it?...when he got back to Disneyland, oh my, so sweet! Again, another great episode showing us it's not always smooth sailing getting the babies headed in the right direction again. It's been said and will continue to be said...Thank you for all every one of you do for these amazing monkeys.

It shows how much you all love these babies and are 100% committed to getting them back to a normal healthy life. So happy they are all improving thanks to your dedication in their care. You are all very special people. Bless you all. Edit: Just a side note. There are hundreds of vervets running around climbing and hiding in trees that you check on every day. How you can assess that there is something wrong health wise with one of them absolutely amazes me. It seems like an impossible thing to do. How you are able to this I don't know. I love Thursdays! What a great job you've done with rehab on those injured ones. The vet sounded really excited at how much they had all progressed. Floki's reaction to seeing the nuts and seeds arriving was lovely! No malingering with those patients - they're determined to find ways to move! Thank-you for another great episode. 👍💖

The look on the babies face when y'all do physical therapy on them is like you told them to just grin and bare it, it will be over soon, the look is so cute, I think most humans have been through it, but we knew why. Lol..I know they need it and God Bless y'all for trying to make these injured babies back to as normal as can be, but unless you saw the video, no one would have any idea what it takes, time, people, money, Wow, to do this job. Always so touching to see these little guys get a second chance to have a mom that loves them as they were their own. Monkeys are truly remarkable in so many ways. I never get tired of observing them. Especially because your videos are so entertaining. I am so glad you guys continue to allow us into your world year after year. I wish I lived in SA so I could volunteer. I do agree that I wish this place didn’t have to exist, but all of your hearts are solid gold for what y’all do for these kids and babies. What is wrong with the little monkeys' leg????? Thank God they are not sold to people that would abuse them! I've seen so much of that while watching shows on the families and little baby monkeys they have. It turns my stomach to see the beautiful babies being hurt like some of them are. I thought it was interesting how Pan was teaching Daisy that she didn't want her riding on her back. Every time she tried, Mom sat down. I imagine eventually the baby learns it's pointless to hop on for a ride when it's not going anywhere.

I think she is going to be a force to be reckoned with. 😊It was sweet to see Floki's reaction of delightful anticipation when his seeds appeared. I feel for all he has missed due to human abuse. He is a real trooper in enduring what is necessary to give him his best life. Most wonderful are the medical progress reports! These dear little angels have gone through so much at such a tender young age. To see that they are progressing medically is uplifting.

Its hard to tell for sure with Yolanda to what extent there maybe nerve damage. She could actually just not be using that limb simply because its been immobilized a great deal of the time, and she may have equated using it with pain which would have been the case with the original dislocation and she is not aware that it would not be as painful or painful at all if she did use it. The reason to think that there actually is some nerve damage is that the position of the hand, flexed under, stays that way when it does touch the ground or anything when she tried to climb, and she is not automatically repositioning it to automatically place it flat on the ground with outward flexion. If she was aware of the position her limb/hand is in then the automatic response of her hand would be to adjust so the palm is flat on the surface, or would properly grip whatever touches her palm. Its not rare that a dislocation can damage a nerve, although if its relocated well and in a timely matter permanent damage can be avoided but with a rescued baby its hard to know what the timeline was and if the nerve was pinched or circulation was poor or absent for more than a couple of hours damage could be permanent. She does seem to use her shoulder to keep from knuckle dragging but is not reorienting her palm to a flat position. And of course there is also the risk that relocation of the shoulder could have caught the nerve or pinched part of the nerve plexus since immobilization and no damage you would have noticed movement in her digits, even with the arm mobilized. The only way to really know if she is getting use back and does really know where that lower limb is in space would be to immobilize the good side for a short time and see if that will force her to pay attention and use the damaged side, or if she still seems not to find the fingers, hand and arm usable much at all. If, with the good side immobilized she is forced to use the weaker side at least some then periodically for short periods, immobilizing the good side will force her to do activities with the weaker side as part o routine PT, even if just 5-10 minutes at a time a couple of times during the day. If she cannot be pushed to use it more and realize that the wrist can flex and extend by her own use of it it will become very important to make sure that she is not rubbing sores into the knuckles of that weaker side as it will become more and more something she will drag about about. It could come down to consideration of amputation of the arm or part of it, so its not just being dragged about causing sores and wounds to the hand which, because of that risk, not having an arm at all or a partial amputation is better in the long run as its less likely to be a part that just gets in her way and actually hampers her. Exercise will definitely keep the joint from freezing up and will start getting strength back in the arm but sadly may not due much to over come loss of nerve function. Its neurologically normal that if you put an hand or foot down with the side usually up turned down, the automatic reaction is for the brain to tell the foot or hand (or paw) to flip into a pad or palm or walking surface down, but if it will not flip into its normal position for gross motor skill, such as walking or climbing, or when you position it correctly it wants to flip back into the wrong position you most likely have damage in the nerves somewhere between the hand/wrist or foot/ankle and the brain. Depending on where the damage is in the nerve tree, its possible that you can get some regeneration and possible low level EMS or TENS stimulation may help the nerves more then range of motion alone. One thing that perhaps your maintenance/building people could provide for Floki that we have found helps in early rehabilitation of hips joints in primates is a A-frame ramp that can be adjusted from a very gradual incline/ decline and as he masters using his leg to get him up and down the A-frame ramp it can be adjusted by placement of pegs to support a steeper incline from only a few degrees incline/decline to start with up to a 90 degree incline, at which point he should be climbing well. We built ours between two side pieces with holes drilled in the sides for the pegs that hold the ramp pieces at the angle they are ready to work on and the side pieces are large enough that they prevent jumping off at the top of the incline. It can be a bit bulky but since its a natural drive to go 'up' they are usually happy to have a piece like this to play on.

They seem a lot calmer than being in human households. They ALL look healthy. Do you guys have a vet for them? Do you have them spayed and neutered or do they keep reproducing?

What happens when you reach the maximum number of monkeys you can have at the foundation?

I'm not trying to be negative, I love the care given to these amazing monkeys, but at 36:40, look at Floky's right hip and how it's sticking out. It clearly looks like its still dislocated or broken. When the vet holds it's leg and does big circles in both directions, the only way the monkey can say "THAT HURTS" is by flinching and trying to yank away, and that's exactly what he is doing. When Floki tries to walk, notice how his right foot crosses in front of the left foot and how his knee sticks way out. Floki is still injured and in a lot of pain. I Kno VMF wants us to believe he is improving, but he isn't. My opinion.

When the two young ladies took the two babies to get a check-up the one that had I believe was called Minimax Matt was screaming so badly she could have at least talked to that baby tried to comment down but no all she done was hold onto it and that it, it wouldn't have hurt her to have talked to the little baby to come the baby down

I know it's fantastic to see the babies with new mums, but it's horrible to know how much stress and hard work the volunteers do and the monkeys just don't want to know them or know that they are not a threat to them and without the volunteers who knows what would have become of them or where they would be.
