Time for as built survey. Checking slab level and cast-ins position and straight after marking lines for columns and walls to start next level.
Be the first on the slab! This will give you the time to do the as builts and start marking columns and walls before anyone is on. Your PM should be very happy with this and definitely you’ll be paid for the extra time and if the initiative will come from you this will show the management that you care about your work and it will pay off trust me ⬇️⬇️
First we are checking quickly the level and start checking boxes. We use a survey program for it and set the target height on you EDM as your SSL, this way we will get the results as we want them like -4, +2 etc. I prefer shooting directly at the slab without using a pole ⬇️⬇️
So level first and then boxes and start marking columns as we go. As always communication is the key so we should know what columns will go first and these we will mark. At this point (apart from current level drawing) we should have at least a next level GA drawing so we can determine each column & wall heights. We will be marking lines on the concrete and write the height. Once all is marked we quickly check if the starter bar cover is right ⬇️⬇️
Why the as builts are so important. Firstly the as built will show us if anything is missing and if not, if it’s within tolerance. If any mistakes are picked up early at this point it will cost much less, or even nothing. Where there is hundreds of balconies to be manufactured if there is a few to be changed to suit, it is not a problem and might be done even for free, but if the balcony comes ready and won’t fit I don’t have to tell you how much it will cost adding delays to it. If missed boxed are found we need to make sure core drilling will be booked before pipe fitters start ⬇️⬇️
Trust me guys I know it’s difficult and we are always short of time, but these things are really important and if it’s too much for us we need to speak up.

Hi Greg, I am currently in year 11 about set my GCSE’s and I am interested to go into the civil engineering industry. I have a question about what is the best way to start a civil engineering apprenticeship. As I do currently find the process a bit confusing.
@SITENG

Hi! Go through UK big companies websites and check there how their apprenticeship program looks, you can also write to them and ask, they will be helpful and you will get information from source 😁

no worries, that's all I can say. Really good option is work and learn, when you can work 4 days a week and do college 1 day 😁

You can try Finchley college. My course is nearly ready, but it's on-line. Hope you will find something, unfortunately I don't have anything I can recommend

How do you bring up control lines on high risers what we do is put a lazer and drill up to show the lines
@SITENG

You need points on the slab to refer to going down - some box in the slab where you can set your EDM. In most cases there will be slipform, or a jump form and you should you use to set some targets for the orientation too

Hi Greg , cud u pls do video on setting out of precast staircases??
@SITENG
@SITENG 2 года назад
Hi Jayesh! Will do but not any soon unfortunately as I want to do this one from site, so I can show how to transfer level etc. It also depends if you use precast it might be setting a pockets in the walls, but often starimaster is used as well.

Hi! I will be doing AutoCad, but can't promise when exactly. Not in next few weeks for sure, but watch some of the vids where I am showing how to bring information from the CAD to the instrument and other way round 😁
