There’s no way lab production and distribution for a fake meat burger is let’s say $11 more expensive than a beef counterpart raised through its whole life span. Definitely a cool thing, but not economically viable (yet?).
Agreed, the time, resources, and environmental damage associated with raising cattle are astronomical. White Castle will be using the Impossible Burger as part of their sliders menu, who knows, that may kick off economies of scale in terms of meat production and distribution.
Yes. The thing your missing is the huge subsidies that governments pump into the meat and dairy industries to make them affordable. Without those, meat and dairy would be a luxury for most people.
