Check out an article on Metal Injection: MACHINE HEAD's Robb Flynn Says "The Music Business Has Sucked The Life Out Of Creativity". It pretty much explains the reasons why metalcore videos are getting an average of 250,000 views when pop videos are getting 250,000,000. Main reason: there isn't a North American "metal scene" anymore. Everyone listens to everything these days, and so heavy metal has become more obscure. (In my opinion, metal will always be a fringe genre. It's not mainstream pop/rock for a reason.) Even worse, there are tons of great metal bands that are living in the massive shadow of Big Four (Metallica/Slayer/Megadeth/Anthrax) and British New Wave (Maiden/Priest/Motorhead/Sabbath) that it almost becomes impossible to define or obtain "mainstream success" without getting compared to or judged against them. Metalcore had its shot when End of Heartache was nominated for Best Metal Performance in 2005 (back when metalcore had reached mainstream audience) but lost to Motorhead's cover of Whiplash!!!! (Are you fucking kidding me? An original/awesome song lost to a fucking cover song?!) That's why the Grammy's suck, why "mainstream heavy metal success" sucks, why small bands will never be able to support themselves on tours without playing a bunch festival shows (see: Killswitch's Disarm The Descent tour poster for an example), and why this song will never get the recognition it deserves.
