trust me i'd fulfill what Tim never was able to do if it means getting this band together, i'd bet my life if someone would argue AILD not being the top 3 best metalcore bands to exist in this universe

Songs like this one are the Pinnacle of modern metalcore, and I don't think I can be convinced otherwise. Such a brilliantly written song, so catchy and so hard hitting emotionally and sonically!
This album blew my mind when it came out. I really didn't think they would be able to top An Ocean Between Us, but they did. Faster, heavier, thrashier, and more melodic. The opening riff to this song, while heavily layered and produced, is legendary.
Fucken Eh! Mancino crushes everyone! his percussion work stands alone. However, there are some tracks on this album that just can't touch An Ocean Between Us.
yeah this songs structure build up, intensity, solo are phenomenal, get chills when that solo goes off, think this is there best song from a production perspective
I LOVE this album man, it's still one of, if not my favourite album today, it came out in a time I needed it, and at the time I didn't think AILD could possibly top an ocean between us, but they absolutely did, AOBU was like an 8/10, this one is I'd say a 9.8/10. Only because I don't like the intro song, and I don't believe in a perfect 10 lol

Love this band! Gotta listen to this track at least once a day. Try changing the speed from 'normal' to half speed (0.5) and start it at the guitar solo. The song takes on a grunge vibe and sounds like it came out of a midi keyboard - fell in love with the song all over again! That's also a good way to learn the solo.
This song puts me to tears, not in the way of being sad, but in a way of letting something go that I've honed, and have been attached to for years on end of my life, its as if I'm letting a very close loved one, who has passed away, go! but in the sense of the loved one being let go, it's not a person, it's an emotion that I've forever honed and been in touch with since I was a young child, as a means of survival and defense! but recently this emotion has caused me more trouble now than survival which means its time to let go! The song title "Parallels" reminds me of the Treehouse of Horror VI segment "Homer^3" because Homer goes to a parallel dimension while hiding from Patty and Selma Bouvier.
i HATE metal bands that sing rubbish, that sound like garbage, THIS BAND.....wooooowwww, the complete opposite, i have sooooo many friends who hate metal and were wowed when i played the album around them, as i lay dying is TALENTED BEYOND WORDS, stunned they never won that grammy they were nominated for,, they sure are deserved of having at least one. truly a rare band.
Maybe this is too much info. But the reason I love this song is because when I was a child my mom's ex abused my brother and sister along with me. My fear growing up was ending up like him. So everyday I feel like I'm at war, I developed OCD my healing was stopped. I just want to make sure when I have kids they have a life I never did. One where they go untouched so they can grow.

The weird thing is on Amazon music this song was replaced by a different song. I don't know why and it really sucks that I can't listen to it except for on here.
Actually he lost his "faith" over the years as he researched the religious university and uncovered answers he never wanted to find leading him to no longer mentally sustain the idea of there being a God. I have gone through a very similar process myself.
The other metalcore bands like August Burns Red and The Devil Wears Prada sound like they're only screaming, musically they really suck. As I lay dying produces great music, they even have awesome guitar riffs, other metalcore bands have to learn from them.
I actually disagree with your opinion. August Burns Red, for example, produces and creates really good musical pieces. The guitar work is actually (relatively) complex and the drums are, imo, insane. I do love AILD AND ABR, but I think ABR has a bit more technicality for some songs. :) For instance, just listen to their song "Meddler".. (lyrics are great too !)
Josephshanks7 complex? I know so many songs. As a guitarist i can say this isn't too complex. AILD isn't complex either. They just create music in a different approach and create songs differently.
