This brings me to an interesting Story about Su-Metal. In 1971 Led Zeppelin came to Hiroshima for a goodwill concert. He had played at the Shiei Taikukan Hall (Prefectural Gymnasium). Where he had given the profits to the City of Hiroshima which were used to help build a music school. Led Zeppelin had wanted to do something to promote peace at the time. So this was his contribution which really says a lot about them here. This music school which would latter have a student that became rather famous. Any guesses as to who that was? 🤔 Yep, none other than Suzuka Nakamoto!!!! Su-Metal's father was also in a Punk band called The Hooligans. Where he played bass guitar professionally for awhile until he had a stoke & retired. Which has since seen his daughter perform alongside one of his favorite bands, Guns N´ Roses. To see his daughter rise to the levels she has now. Must have made him quite a proud farther here. Knowing Led Zeppelin had a hand in this as well. Just adds a factor of cool to the story all the more here. 🤘🦊🎸🎙

I had doubts that if Su could really sing before, because of their idol roots. This is the song put my doubts away. But what really dragged me into this fox hole is the song AKATSUKI. It just melts my ears every time.

Great reaction. This is one of four Su-metal solos, two on each of the first two albums. The others are 'Akatsuki', 'Amore' and 'No Rain, No Rainbow'. Yui and Moa would get a break while Su performed those - Su would get a break when Yui and Moa performed one of their duets - they were called Black BABYMETAL for those and they also had two on each of the first two albums ('4 No Uta' or Song 4, 'Onedari Daisakusen', 'GJ' and 'Sis Anger'). The Kami Band intro here is called 'Mischiefs of the Metal Gods'. In order of solos - Leda Cygnus (blue guitar), Takayoshi Ohmura (gold guitar), BOH (6 string bass) and Hideki Aoyama (drums). There can't be many 16 year old girls who could follow that intro and then just take over the whole stage and arena the way Su did. This is one of their darkest songs lyrically. I understand rondo is a musical term denoting a repeated theme - something like that anyway. I believe they borrowed the term for the title of this song as Su is caught in a recurring nightmare, being chased through the darkness by something she can't see. Eventually she hides, but it is still coming closer. Knowing there is no escape she asks that if she is to die won't it at least reveal itself to her. This was only the second time Su had performed this song live - the first time was the night before. This was early March 2014. They played two nights at the Budokan in Tokyo (think the equivalent of Carnegie Hall or Madison Square Garden - it is the place all Japanese artists aspire to play), Red Night and Black Night, becoming the youngest average age female band ever to headline there. They had just released their first album - they sold out both nights. 🤘🦊🤘 They were back at the Budokan as part of their 10th anniversary celebration and played 10 shows over the first 3 or 4 months of 2021.

⚡ / 🔥 😱 🔥 That was a sixteen year old Su. She premiered the song the night before, at Budokan Red Night. "Rondo" is easily in my top ten BABYMETAL songs. Su actually performed three solos that night. She did 'No Rain, No Rainbow', followed by 'Akatsuki' earlier in the set. Yui and Moa (as Black BABYMETAL) did two songs without Su ('4 no Uta' and 'Onedari Daisakusen'), and of course they all performed a bunch of songs together. That Black Night Budokan concert from March 2014 is still one of my favorite BABYMETAL concerts of all time. Not only is Su brave enough to sing and dance on a tiny elevated platform in the dark, but she is also fearless enough to follow those amazing Kami Band solos.

One of the many songs composed by YuppeMetal (aka Yuyoyuppe), he's also behind "Karate", Kagerou, the arrangements of Megitsune, Headbanger!! Night Of The 15 Mix (only the mix) and more new songs from latest album like Monochrome and Believing. _"Akumu No Rondo"_ (or Rondo Of Nightmare) combines not only heaviness with dark waltz and dope time signatures changes but also delicate and fragile elegance that makes you want to grab your inception kit and go to rescue this 16 yo queen from this nightmare. Temporarily title song was "Kill The Alice" so it is like Alice but instead of Wonderland she's trapped in a nightmare trying to escape and avoid some evil entity. Rondo is a musical form in which you can hear a repetitive pattern, an example of this could be the song "Blue Rondo a la Turk". The Kami Band is doing their second magnificent intro of the night with their own set called "Mischiefs Of Metal Gods". They become regular after this special live at Budokan 2014 and leaving baby-bones, from early shows, behind, shout-out to them thou. They're Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars, BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums, this time Leda Cygnus is the first guitar. This was the day (night) after the first live premiere of this song and she's dancing and performing like she already did a dozen times before, like a pro. Also she's showing some fierceness here dancing on that high dangerous mini stage with no wire and that's how she keeps winning everyone's heart. But not everything was perfect here despite their impeccable performance and sound, and the day before the girls face that dangerous challenge on the stage, taking their own revenge after coming back in 2021 to celebrate their 10 years and leaving those ghosts behind, fortunately. Like i said, YuppeMetal is the one behind this song and he took inspiration from "Protest The Hero - Bloodmeat" song, of course i recommend you to hear that blaster song. Great reaction! Babymetal is insanely talented in their respective crafts, and that's what makes them so awesome. This was a 2014 performance and a Su-metal solo. Even more impressive was the fact that Su-metal was 16 years old here. They did use backing tracks, but mainly for the piano you hear. Su-metal's vocals are ~95% live. She will use some tracking sometimes for additional harmonies or specific effects. They should be touring again this year. In 2023, they did an EU tour with Sabaton, a US tour with Dethklok, and back to the EU with a headliner tour, along with shows in Asia, Australia, and various festivals (almost 100 shows in 2023). While Babymetal has never truly been in an Anime, their music has been featured in Tiny Tina's Wonderland video game, and WWE used their song Karate in an event in 2016 I believe. A few other suggestions to get you a better feel of Babymetal as a whole: *Road of Resistance (Official, Live):* Epic anthem, and a staple show closer for almost a decade. *Akatsuki (Budokan 2014):* Another Su-metal solo. A "Love Ballad", but Babymetal style. *Catch Me If You Can (Budokan 2014):* Another band intro followed by a brutally adorable song about hide and seek. I love this song! It has an unusually dark atmosphere for a BABYMETAL song, but the way this atmosphere is projected is awesome! Every metalhead should be able to appreciate this performance (minus those who can't get over their predetermined stance that BABYMETAL is not Metal). Whatever angle you look at this from, whether you are looking for virtuoso instrumentals, progressive rhythms, beautiful vocals, colourful melodies, a cool stage, grand stage presence, a palpable atmosphere... it's all there. Now admit it: You miss the other two girls dancing. :-)

I believe that the "Kami Band" of this era is the best.

Kamiband : We're gonna blow your minds with our awesome solos! Sumetal : Hold my matcha latte.... Love watching Hideki in this, when they pan to him in the beginning, he looks like he's just casually drumming and not responsible for the pounding in the solo. Most singers might get intimidated having to follow the spectacular performance by the Kamiband, but 16yr old Su just gets up there, and shows you why Babymetal was built around her. 🤘🦊🤘

As has probably been mentioned before, Babymetal's live backing band are called the Kami Band (God/Spirit Band). In Babymetal lore, they are the spirits of heavy metal sent by the Fox God to assist Babymetal in the Metal Resistance. The Kami band for this show was (in order of solos) Leda Cygnus (guitar), Takayoshi Ohmura (guitar), BOH (bass), and Hideki Aoyama (drums). Rondo of Nightmare is one of four songs that Su-metal performs solo, the others being Akatsuki, Amore, and No Rain No Rainbow. This was only the second time that Rondo had been performed live, the previous night at Red Night being the world premiere performance. There are also four songs that Yuimetal and Moametal sing without Su-metal; they are GJ, Onedari Daisakusen, Sis Anger and 4 No Uta. When Yui and Moa perform without Su, they are called Black Babymetal. The purpose of these split songs, which were only on the first two albums, was to give the girls a chance to have a rest during shows when they were still young. At the time of this performance in 2014, Su-metal was 17, and Moametal and Yuimetal were 15. This performance took place at the Nippon Budokan, which is the most prestigious live performance venue in Japan. Artists only get to perform there by invitation, so it was a special honour for them to play there, which they have done on several occasions. The Budokan was built for the martial arts events at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, which is why it is octagonal in shape and why the stage they are performing on is round. Babymetal have done quite a few collabs with other artists, including Dragonforce, Polyphia, Tom Morello, and even Lil Uzi Vert.

They invented Kawaii Metal, which translates as Cute Metal, so indeed, it is cute metal. Even though they experimented in a looot of different styles and genres, but there is always a little component of cute and metal. And Suzuka Nakamoto is a huge part of Babymetal's success, her powerful laser-like voice is so unique and perfect to dominate the wall of sound behind her, and her stage presence, especially at her age but also in general, is something that one in a million has.

They created the genre, "Kawaii Metal" (Kawaii is Japanese for Cute) BUT that aside the whole group is amazing and very talented so thank you for recognizance that and not being gatekeeping a holes. 1. Older Babymetal to watch, for performance and theatrics alone, "Death" from the Legend 1997 live show. Sumetal 18 birthday. She was reborn during this show. 2. Also, watch the "Road to Resistance" performance from the 2023 PIA arena. This is where Momometal is performing as part of the new Holy Trinity (Su, Moa and Momo). The Girls were scared that the fans would not accept Momo as a permanent member, they were wrong. Sumetal also says arigato near the end, thanking the fans for accepting Momo.

The other two (Yui and Moa) were backstage resting, rehydrating and catching up on some homework. All three had to rest during concerts back then. Cardiac training only gets you so far at that age.

If you want the most metal song from Babymetal, you need to listen to the song Death from the Legend 1997 show. I'm not sure if you have listened to them, but the band Lovebites has an amazing thrash song called Winds of Transylvania which was written for the Vladlove anime.

This piece is sung by 16 year old Sasuka that is having a unending nightmare where she is being chased by a faceless entity and no matter how hard she tries to escape she can not, realizing that she is doomed she begs that before it takes her life it shows its face to her. Sadly I believe this song is about fighting depression, perhaps what she is running from is herself. Stay aware of those close to you, they may need your support. I enjoyed watching the expressions on your faces change as the song progressed realizing that Babymetal is a legit metal band, a lot of metal heads write them off on their first exposure to them as being to poppy or the girls being to cute for metal. Like any band there will be those songs that just aren't for you but if your like me the more you watch Babymetal you come to realize just how awesomely different this group is, they are no joke no matter what genre that people want to put them in. Now, a comment that has become way to tiring is that the girls "just sing", I'm not sure why that is even a thing, It's like saying Ozzy Osbourne just sings or Rob Halford just sings or Ronnie James Dio just sings or even saying Tony Iommi just plays the guitar or that John Bonham just played the drums.

This video is 10 years old remember so Su was either 15 or 16 singing in front of a full stadium of thousands. That in itself is impressive. Great reaction. I was able to see these wonderful, talented women live in Cologne twice last year and it was incredible. I recommend any BABYMETAL song live at Budokan 2021 or live at Pia Arena 2023. I don't think it's right to show Black BABYMETAL or other older songs because the lineup changed and they moved on. I recommend the channel "For The Fox God", it has the songs live at Budokan 2021 and Pia Arena 2023.

Yeah after becoming addicted to Babymetal and after a while, went back and listened to some old favourite bands like Epica; I too realised that it wasn’t just a bias I had for Sumetal’s voice. It is legitimately POWERFUL and the difference is night and day. Her voice has serious volume, and I don’t mean that in simply the tone or pitch, I mean her voice fills space and has serious weight and punch to it; just like metal.

This is definitely "Cute Metal": they invented a new genre, that's called "Kawaii Metal", and it exactly means that 😆 2 other bands that always comes to mind when we talk about cute metal, are Nemophila and Hanabie, even if they are not part of the genre

I think you just need to let go of the stress of wether you will like BABYMETAL or not. At the end of the day, it's music, it's fun. And BABYMETAL is all about fun and making quality content (music, stage show, lore, choreo, light show, etc.). Out of the 60~ songs they have, you're bound to love a few. That being said, I think it's smart to give you this first. That way you can also see what makes BM so great: their live musicians are literal gods (Kamis) on their instruments. Just let go of the fear of not liking what you hear. Give us your honest opinion and do not ask yourselves silly questions and just go with the flow imo. Also do continue with the live shows, it's the best way to consume BM.

Crazy that's this was 9 years ago. They haven't performed this song since like 2017 and that is when they took solo intros away from the East Kami band. Older Babymetal will sound more metal whereas newer stuff is more pop and synth. Also the East Kamis have not performed with Babymetal since Jan 2023. They have been using the West Kamis who are good but just not at the same level.
