Babymetal Monochrome Live at PIA Arena Reaction 

I am a 56 yearold hard core metal head that was bored with the music scene and life. Just like this song, my world was monochrome. About 5 years ago BABYMETAL appeared on my feed and my world was again filled with colour. BABYMETAL with their uplifting songs, great music, great lyrics, crowd control, visuals, hard work ethic, humbleness and just being so damn adorable has changed my life for the better. Many of their songs have brought me to tears and set my emotons free. I have watched every video I can find of them and am astounded every time. But this past year, I was able to attend their live show in a small venue in Toronto (about 4000). I was at the barricade, less than 10 feet from the girls and and lucky to have a tiny inteaction with Moa. I was like a little kid again. It was such a surreal moment. That night I left the concert exhausted phyically from singing and jumping, exhausted emotionally from pure ephoria and tears of emotion and my face hurt from the stupid smile on my grumpy old face.😂 BABYMETAL has some great MVs (Megitsune, Karate, Doki Doki Morning, Iine, Metali) to watch. But I suggest you follow up with LIVE because BABYMETAL excels at live. When you can... attend a live show and you will find they are even better! As for BABYMETAL's "best" song? I have about 10-20 BABYMETAL songs in my top 5 favourites 😊 But put a gun to my head and I might choose "From Dusk Till Dawn" at the Budokan. To me it is a very unique song so very different from other BABYMETAL songs, and that is saying a lot because BABYMETAL has over 60 songs that are different from each other. BABYMETAL will not be pigeon-holed into one type of song. Looking forward to your future reactions! 🤘🦊🤘

I fell down the foxhole about 4 months ago. They have A LOT of good songs. This live performance made this song become my second favourite of theirs. But as others have said, Babymetal is one of those bands where no song is the same and everyone has different favourites. It’s just an adventure we are all on together, The One. Welcome, prepare for a life changing experience.

I have been watching them every day since 2017, and I'm still the same: Having a huge smile on my face from start to finish every time I see them. They are honestly the best thing I have come across in my life.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。I witnessed this very performance at the venue where and when Momoko showed up as an official 3rd member, Momometal, for the first time. I sang the ♪ oh oh ohoo ♪ part with Momoko with mic (Of course with Moa as well). I did it with my loudest voice in this show. What a bliss! The flying drones with cameras that enabled the beautiful aerial cinematograph were manipulated by experts including Ms. Shiraishi. She is a member of team Japan for World Drone Racing Championship. As you may know Western (American) Kami Band played in the girls' back like they did in their North American tour with DETHKLOK. Japanese fans always appreciate the devoted support by Chris, CJ, Anthony and Clint (Ryan replaced in USA). They are really unsung heroes.

Monochrome has become a staple of their live setlist since they resumed live performances. They played Monochrome at 93 out of 94 live shows in 2023 (Black Night was the one time they didn't play it, for those wondering). I was at Clear Night at PIA Arena when this was filmed, and I can confirm that this performance was absolutely magical. I get chills myself every time I watch it again remembering how it felt. It was completely worth going all the way to Japan to see them. If you want to see Babymetal in full flight like this, you will have to make the trip to Japan because they only do these epic performances on home turf. Their tour shows are, by necessity, a more compact and portable performance. The tour shows are still tremendous fun, and you get to see them up close, just without the spectacular staging and lighting. Babymetal's live band are called the Kami Band (God/Spirit Band). The Kami Band is made up of professional session musicians hand picked by Babymetal's producer Kobametal. There are actually two Kami bands, one made up of Japanese musicians, and one made up of American musicians. The Japanese Kami band plays most of the shows in Japan, and the American Kami band plays on most of their overseas tours. On this occasion however, it was the American Kami band playing a show in Japan. The American Kami band are: Chris Kelly (guitars), CJ Masicantonio (guitars), Clint Tustin (bass), and Anthony Barone (drums).

The part where Momo is kinda standing off to the side and Su and Moa pull her in gets me every time.

I've seen this song live twice, and it is so special. Once in Glasgow's SSE arena in April 2023, and again in Madrid's Palacio Vistalegre in December 2023. Both times were so magical. Babymetal are my favourite band in the world, have been since I was 12, and I am so happy I've gotten the chance to see them. Their music is so incredible and they are so special.

Sorry I'm late, I do sleep sometimes, but it looks like you have been given all the info you were asking for. Welcome back and great reaction again.🦊So the piano version was magical - live performances are where they are always at their very best. The choreo is bespoke for each song, their choreographer is Mikiko Mizuno and she is also incredible. In most songs yes, it is interpretive and will help with our understanding of a lyric or of the song as a whole, but more importantly it is aimed at involving the audience, letting them know that where they wanted to jump, pump their fists or whatever they were right to want to do that and even giving them their cues to join in. You like when bands do crowd interaction - BABYMETAL are black belts at getting everybody involved. Go to see them live and you will feel like you are part of the performance. Their best song? That is a very hard question. They have nearly 70 songs now, no fillers and every one of their songs is somebody's favourite. For me 'Monochrome' is right up there among their best, but I think somebody else said, and I am no different, my own top 5 contains over 20 of their songs. I know you have a lot of suggestions for more songs already - selfishly I'd love to watch you discover each one ... but nobody could blame you if you went into a BABYMETAL binge by yourself (but it would be more fun if you let us come along with you while you do that).

You have fallen into the mother of all rabbit holes, or fox holes as it's known with Baby Metal fans. They have so many great songs. I had the privilege of seeing them live last fall and was completely impressed, particularly with Suzuka's live vocals. I actually thought she must be lip syncing for the first couple of songs. By the end of the third song I realized she was actually singing. Her vocal precision is next level. If you like heavier stuff check out "Maya" live obviously, and "Kagerou" with Kami band intro. These ladies don't play, they bring it!

Wanna be hyped up? Try Divine Attack live. Su wrote the lyrics and it really will get you hooked. Btw there’s no such thing as a bad song from BABYMETAL your favourite will be pretty much whichever song you’re listening to. That said Monochrome. is a stone cold classic.

They got this magical moment when performing live in every setlist they did throughout this whole World Tour 2023, and we'll definitely gonna see more this year. The composer behind this song is the same one behind Karate, Rondo Of Nightmare, Kagerou, the arrangement of Megitsune and also behind Believing from this same latest album, you should really not miss those songs if you didn't already. And let me say a thing first: down the Foxhole you go, head first! 😁 This is what they do and yes, everyone wants to see them live (except for a few gatekeepers out there). Their live band is called Kami Band. "Kami" means "god" or "spirit" and they represent the spirit of each instrument. This in particular is the western Kami Band, formed by American musicians: Chris Kelly and CJ Masciantonio (guitars), Clint Tustin (bass) and Anthony Barone (drums). They have another set formed by Japanese musicians (the original one, so to speak). But, out of the 94 concerts they performed in 2023, the eastern kamis only performed in the first two. Their choreo tries to represent somehow the lyrics. Of course it's not always obvious. Their choreographer is Mikiko Mizuno, well known for her work with Perfume, Sakura Gakuin and BABYMETAL, of course. She was a choreographer for Tokyo's handover presentation at the 2016 Summer Olympics closing ceremony in Rio de Janeiro. Good job identifying each member (that rarely happens on the first or second video). This was Momometal's first concert as a full-fledged member. Previously she was just a backup dancer since 2019. So, this is a very important performance and the moment Su-metal calls Moametal and Momometal for the first time (very intentionally, btw) became instantly one of my favorite BABYMETAL moments. As they describe the process, they will interpret the dancing when they hear the rough versions of the songs. MIKIKO will take those ideas into account when she goes into her studio and develops the full dance routines. She is also the choreographer and stage director for Perfume, a pop techno/dance pop trio. They regularly sell out arena concerts in Japan. She was the main choreographer and dance instructor for Sakura Gakuin, the school-themed Idol group where BABYMETAL originated. MIKIKO is the founder and director of the experimental dance group ELEVENPLAY. She was also a founding staff member at Actors School Hiroshima (ASH), the performing arts school where Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-metal) received much of her early training in singing and dancing.

Again a great reaction. Your happy expression made me happy too. This is their normal live style: Su has to sing amidst the sound of the loud band, so she can't sing as delicately as she did in the piano version, but it's more powerful. After Yui left BABYMETAL, Su and Moa were forced to perform alone for five years. This performance was the first day that MOMOMETAL officially joined BABYMETAL, so Su and Moa must have been very emotional. 7:55 Su's expression that she was about to start crying was very rare.

Awesome, I knew you’d be blown away by this one! Choreographer: Mikiko Mizuno, she is a very well known choreographer, and consulted on the 2016 Summer Olympics Closing Ceremonies. Band: Originally Kami Band East, since 2012, and they are top notch musicians. In this video: Kami Band West. Joined in 2019 to assist with western hemisphere tours, as Babymetal increased touring. Recently, they’ve become the de facto backing band (played 100% of shows in 2023). Members: Chris Kelly (guitars), CJ Masciantonio (guitars), Clint Tustin (bass). These 3 are/were members of the band Galactic Empire. Anthony Barone (previously Shadow of Intent) is the beast on drums. Next suggestion : Road of Resistance (Official). It’s even more epic, and they already did that 8 years ago (Su just turned 26). You can always react to Babymetal more often, thus creating a pool of personally consumable Babymetal content 😎👌😇😉. 🤘🦊

Been a fan from around 2015-16. Babymetal has been special to me in many ways, through dark and light times in life, their talent and growth over the years has stunned me in ways few things has. They are experts at merging and combining genres and refuses to stay in one box. I saw them in Stockholm and Oslo last year, seen them in Japan (flew there from Europe only to see them) and Germany before the pandemic, and most likely will go to Japan again at some point to see them. If you continue this road, one thing you will notice is that you never really know where you have them, if you think you have them figured out, you haven't... Fav songs is: Rondo of Nightmare live, Headbanger, Babymetal Death, Light and Darkness, BxMxC... All for very different reasons.

To See them live will be rather difficult since they just recently Returns from their World Tour with an audience of 240.000 people.

BABYMETAL is probably the #1 reason I moved to Japan. Still can't believe this could change life that big. I can't tell that i'm somehow weaboo or something, I was just impressed of how they do stuff, how they look at things, how they relate to each other. I was able to go to a concert in December here in Spain and the experience was unforgettable. Go to a Babymetal concert whenever you have the chance!

Nobody involves the crowd better than Babymetal.... If you look at all their songs, I'm sure they write it so that there is always a part where the crowd can join in, because in all their performances, theres always a place where we as the crowd can sing along or dance along. With other bands, ya you can sing along because you know the lyrics, but with Babymetal it just feels like you are part of the performance, that you are not only encouraged but actually required to join in the performance to make it as magical as it is. 😁🤘🦊🤘

Monochrome is certainly one of their best, but there are plenty more that you'll love. My personal favorite is Megitsune (Check out the 2023 PIA Arena version or the official video) and I think you'll really love the "Trilogy of Lights" (Starlight - Legend Metal Galaxy Version, Shine - Legend M Version, and Arkadia - Legend Metal Galaxy Version). You will also want to venture back to early in their career to see where they came from. Regardless of what you do, welcome to THE ONE and enjoy your trip down the fox hole! 🦊

Babymetal are amazing in that every song is unique and different and yet still Babymetal and always uplifteing. Young as they are BM go back to 2010 in one incarnation and two of the three original members were on the stage you saw here. You have heard the 'mature' Babymetal so far and I personally look forward to seeing their amazing stage presence when they were merely extremely talented teens. I love this performance and when I listen to it it is my favorite. That said the Babymetal catalog is over 70 songs now and there are several that grab my ears, eyes and heart each time I experience them. I do recommend their live performances over the MV's-which admittedly are top notch. The live performances just have an extra level of energy-like you saw here. Hey Hokkyo! Welcome to the foxhole. Enjoy the ride my friend. Babymetal has released 4 albums across 13 years so this is just the beginning. I think Monochrome is my favorite song on this most recent album (The Other One), but it's not my favorite Babymetal song overall. The thing about Babymetal though is that their songs are so varied and mix a lot of genres that you can put a group of fans together and everyone will have completely different favorites. And yes, they are at their best live. They consider themselves live performers first instead of recording artists. The Japanese press calls them a "Metal Dance Unit". I'll leave the recommendations to others, but I will recommend that you react to live versions if possible. I've seen them live on their North American tours a few times and it's always been amazing. The next time they're in your neck of the woods you should absolutely go!

Excellent reaction! Just watched your Piano version video and that was great too! As many other great BM fans have said in the comments already, welcome to The One and the deep dive into the Foxhole! I also discovered BM about 8 months ago and I can't remember the last time I have been so passionate and loving a musical artist as much as them. Their music style, performances, the humbleness, great love for their fans. The bravery and courage to do what they do for over 10 years against all odds and criticism(mostly metal elitists), starting at such a young age! I also appreciate you taking the time to do some homework on them before even starting to watch them, thank you for that. Many fans don't care much for BM story and Lore but I actually think it adds more to them and their music and performances. Looking forward to your next video, as somebody else mentioned I'd recommend Maya, Mirror Mirror, or Divine Attack. All from newest album and also from this same concert series. Monocrome is one of my favorite songs after Metal Kindom on the album The Other One... I witnessed Babymetal live when they came to my country Indonesia... but Babymetal concerts are always more epic when in Japan... I think I like all Babymetal songs because There are various genres in Babymetal... maybe the only group like Babymetal on this earth... and you should react to all Babymetal songs more... I was lucky to see them twice last year, as supporting act for Sabaton they played in a sold out area (at least 15.000 people). Even though most people never heard of Babymetal before they followed the order to take the phones out and turn on the light creating this magic moment. By the way, preparing for the Sabaton concert was when I stumbled into the fox hole. Monochrome immediately became one of my favorite songs.

I wasnt at this show, i was at the one a few months earlier where they played this song live for the first time. Blew my socks off, but when Su asked everyone to get their phones out, i wasnt prepared and my phone was in my bag which was under my seat so i didnt have time to get it out😭😭😭 Super emotional song though. Brought to you by the Angel of Song (SU-METAL) accompanied by the Angel of Love (MOAMETAL) and the Angel of Joy (MOMOMETAL). You will find that many Babymetal fans have a similar story, I think. The Fox God sends Babymetal to us when we need them the most. They helped me through a rough couple years emotionally and I will be forever grateful. My wallet is not so fond of them but, oh well! Also, like many others, My top 5 songs is about 20 songs long. I have 5 in the top spot, lol. I saw them live for the first time last year in Dallas and it was unbelievable!
