As the city's population grows, is the Boston accent endangered? 

It's sad that it's disappearing. I've noticed it over the last 10 years. Still have my strong accent, even though I moved a few years ago down to NJ. My Boston accent is very strong and noticeable, and I'm proud of that. I've also noticed that my friends that are still back home, are pronouncing more of their R's, and the younger generations have no trace of the accent we grew up on. Sad.

You gotta visit Stoughton or Brockton to get the real Massachusetts flavor. Boston is full of phonies now

No one should think the have to "work on the accents" they should be them selfs.

Why is it that as soon as you cross from Eastern MA to Western MA, almost all of the Boston accents disappear and everyone is pronouncing their Rs?

Revere is in the same county as Boston and we are getting so over developed that you can't even see the beach anymore shame on Developers

I've noticed this everywhere. Even in Ireland and England. What used to be a very pronounced accent sounds much more generic.

I like how the anchor is blatantly saying he had to consciously develop a generic American accent for his job

Boston mystique and what charm it had Is "ova" way to many transplants and immigrants that have taken on the masshole personae in their attitude and driving habits.

No one in NYC has a accent anymore it’s very disappointing way to many people from other areas which is also the downfall of NY :(

Bit sad. Try to preserve it, newscasters should speak with the accent and u should learn it in school
