To me this is the most important takeaway of the night. The only way Trump could have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory would have been to do grandstanding victory laps while shooting fish in a barrel. It would have looked cruel and unnerving and made it feel slightly scary to give him power. Normally Trump wasn't able to resist that urge though... now we are seeing a more mature and restrained Trump, and the optics were actually really good. He let his opponent beat himself and even looked a bit merciful. It actually makes me feel better about Trump and I was already going to vote for him anyway. His lust for overkill has always been his Achille's heel, and it looks like he's making some progress getting that under control. At the risk of getting hate comments I'm inclined to think this is him taking note of Vivek's playbook.
@@fochdion1152 He has always been this way. You have only seen him in his 'presented' form. On tv shows, and being dragged by media and opponents. If you go back Pre entertainment Era, you can see that Trump has always been intelligent, clear headed, methodical, and yes, even charming. There actually was a real reason people enjoyed seeing him on the screen.
The owners have been running the country since after FDR with exceptions of JFK and Trump. Whether or not Biden is fit for office has no relevance. It's all a show.

Vivek is VERY impressive, and should get a senior cabinet position, but it makes no sense to make him VP. Cynically, the system encourages the VP choice to be someone who might bring in other voters, like from a minority group or a key swing state. People who like Vivek would already be voting for Trump anyway, so even though he's eminently qualified to be the VP, it would not be smart politics.

The war against Trump is so extreme at this point and has so many allies in powerful places, that there is some fear or question as to whether Trump can overcome it. Will they succeed in jailing him? Might he even be deleted? Nothing is off the table these days because the TDS is SO strong now. Vivek actually guarantees redundancy in MAGA, no matter what happens with Trump, you still end up with the same outcome, maybe even a more marketable version of it. It really discourages a sneak campaign to cheat Trump out of anything, you use up all your coupons and still are no better off. In this case I think it's wise to have a duplicate on the same ticket.
@@daleviker5884 Maybe. I think definitely for young voters especially, there is real life and charisma with Vivek, but more articulate and thoughtful speech, whereas Trump is more….well you know. For better or for worse, Trump is very different to Vivek’s way of looking at it, and so I wonder if Vivek would be good even for getting people who otherwise wouldn’t go for Trump because they thought it was a clown show between two dumbasses
i love vivek by far the most maga possible pick. but there are a couple others i wouldnt mind. as long as vivek gets a high ranking position if he doesnt get vp , i wont complain.
Trump negotiated the Doha agreement with the Taliban. And the Taliban broke the agreement. Vivek has not removed the corruption in the healthcare industry, his own industry that made him a billionaire. And Trump put Dr. Carson in charge of HUD instead of healthcare.
President Trump has grown so much as a man. Now that he sees what shape our country is really in. He has stepped up in so many ways. I'm finding him less cocky, and more caring now. God bless you Mr Trump.

Vivek is absolutely right. It was completely sad and uncomfortable to watch. It was like if I had brought my 98yo grandma with dementia on stage. Especially when he got mad about the fake “suckers and losers” line. That’s exactly what my grandma looks like when she got angry after getting dementia. Dementia anger is a different thing.
VIVEK is pretty good too, but you guys need a contingency plan after trumps 2nd term, you need another 1 like it will be me taking notice from n.z. you probably need another 12 years of decency after trumps what everyone is hoping a very successful run.
The interesting thing was how many conservatives were concerned about the debate format (On CNN, moderators with liberal track records, no audience, muted microphones, etc.). But Trump knew that all he needed was to get Biden on stage to show how feeble Biden is. And all Trump had to do was be on stage, give reasonable answers, and show himself to be the energetic, confident alternative to the declining Biden. It was a master class in using the media to his advantage.
Vivek is sounding so on top of his game in recent interviews and moments on camera. This is a talent that cannot be wasted in his best years by the hack machine that drives the generic media and the political game. It's a problem that the political racket these days makes it so hard for the best to get into the correct roles - but this is a person who has what it takes and he has it now.
Why does no one ever fault Jill. She is so power hungry that she pushes him beyond his strength. She also flies around in her personal jet provided by tax payers. Is that common?. His family doesn’t care about him or they would make him resign.

After re-watching the debate, I am convinced that the Democrat party had already decided to dump Joe before the debate. They wanted to put a nail in the coffin during it in order to have someone else step in while giving off the appearance of neutrality in an attempt to garner trust from the independents watching. The moderators did cover for Joe generally but there were still several moments where they REALLY left him out to dry. Ask yourself, why would the two moderators from CNN all of the sudden seemingly conduct a more or less fair debate with Trump in it whom they absolutely lied about and spoke with vitriol against since he ran in 2016.

There's all this nay-saying because he is such a duplicate of MAGA, but that's what we need for this moment. They are prepared to do ANYTHING. Doing it to 1 person is risky enough, you have to be really brazen to do it twice at once. We need the redundancy more than we need outreach right now. For exactly the reason you are implying.
He's been on Trump's short list since Iowa. But there are a few so it's unclear who he will go with, but Glenn Beck said months ago when he was suggesting Vivek Trump told him "That's what everyone's telling me..." so I know he's taking it very seriously. As a business leader Trump knows the value of advisors and when they are all telling you the same thing, that does mean something. I think honestly the only thing that would give him any real pause on it is Vivek has so much potential you could put him almost anywhere and he might be best case scenario for that role. That's a tough resource to decide what to do with... whatever you do with him it's a big loss for the things you are NOT doing with him.
A debate is not a set up, it is expected of all the candidates; as it should be. The way CNN allowed Joe to cheat with a pen, pad of paper and an ear piece was despicable. Rules were supposed to be applied evenly. They did not cut Joes mic 🎤 when Joe cut in to talk about golf. CNN was not even handed.
I still feel that the USA has a chance with the rest of the world, however, right now, our allies are watching to see if "we" are going to be ok. Yes, embarrassing. Our friends will be watching to see if we are going to be ok. Trust has already taken a rough beating.
And this is what people on both sides need to understand. The left and right idealists already are voting for who they are voting for no matter what. It's the people with no dog in the race who matter, and normal disinterested people will not be fooled about Biden's abilities. It's over for him.
After what we saw in the first debate you know our adversaries are working HARD to get their intelligence apparatuses on getting the POTATUS, Biden a second term.
Really no surprizes for me in the debate.. What I want to know is why did "they" do this? "They" knew how it would look. "They" have plans that are not yet obvious. Watching for their next move.
