I agree that Wisadel is so broken that its not a question, but i feel like Ascalon was way under balled here. The video makes you think she's a Mizuki sidegrade when she just blows him out of the water. I put her up there with like Reed Alter and NTR of operators that aren't really in the best operator debate but still undeniably really good.
You genuinely undersold Ascalon quite a lot here. She is so much better than Mizuki it's laughable. Due to Ascalon's slow and her 'loading' of damage onto enemies from her talent, she actually functionally does a ton more damage to enemies when you don't spend an extra deployment slot on a blocker to support her comparative to Mizuki who has effectively no CC and suffers immensely for it. She is literally just mathematically superior in every single realistic situation. Ascalon is genuinely a very very good unit and sadly just got really undersold to people because she's a permanent pool unit so idiots just parrot the stupid line of "I can just get them later" like a ton of people said for Degenbrecher (which most of those people now massively regret). It's fucking wild to see the juxtaposition of the insane over-hype of Ela and the contrasting apathy towards Ascalon who I'd argue is a much easier unit to use for the average player and will probably provide genuinely better returns. It's just facepalm levels of stupid that the main factor in the differing reception between these two units is Ela's limited status (reminder that you can literally borrow any unit in the game so no unit is ever permanently gone. Balance doesn't care about your FOMO). As for the Ethan comparison, I think people are genuinely coping if they think Ethan is definitively superior in the stalling role. As I recall, Ascalon has a very tiny bit more uptime on her S2 and has perfect consistency unlike Ethan's stall which is rng-based, though still very consistent during skill and with module. I wouldn't say Ethan's stall is definitively better by anything more than an indistinguishably tiny margin for 99.9999% of content. Ascalon actually holds a niche over Ethan in that she can slow aerial units with her S2. Fuck knows why that is the case but it's there. There's also the one tiny other thing where Ascalon deals like 40x more damage than Ethan, removing the need for most of your stalling. Sadly Ascalon was always gonna be a skip unit, coming before 5th anniversary even before we knew the power level of those units, as was the case for CN players. Also I'm gonna laugh at all the turds who build Lutonada and find out that she actually sucks because her S2 pull is shit, she does like no damage (crippling her survivability and laneholding potential) and also the very poor QoL where she can kill enemies when they aren't blocked, denying her sustain.
I'm one of those idiot who doesnt pull cuz "i can get later". I dont want degen since i already have irene work just fine. Also i already maxed ethan so i dont really need ascalon, but i will built both of them if they came. I'm a f2p and the budget is incredibly tight when hg throw so many good ops, now i had to let go some so i can get other. Luckily, i'm a veteran so a loss of good ops is not a big deal.
Hi Supah, this honestly feels like you are deminishing Ascalon a bit too much, it's true that she's unlucky being the banner right before the best one the game has ever had with Walter and Logos, that said in the upcoming 6 months she's still the third best operator that comes out, only behind those two just mentioned. The Crowd Control on her S2 is much much stronger than it looks like by applying 85% slow on enemies, and it even slows flying enemies even if she can't hit them (not for the full 85% but still). Also the DoT is not to be taken lightly due to it's duration, it can easily kill elite enemies while they walk outside of Ascalon's range because of how long the DoT lasts. I repeat it's true that's she's unlucky being right before Wisadel and Logos, but if it wasn't for that, she would probably almost be a Must Pull
I saved for half a year for this. I'm pulling. 350 pulls now, an ability to earn 150 more until the end of W banner,. With 200 pulls I think Ascalon will join my team
@@Kyle81290 that's, not how it works? 300 is the worst possible luck 1 Walter, but also guarantees Logos from spark (on this banner you get Wis for 300 pulls without spending spark currency), so I'll have 100+ left. Then you add 24 free pulls in Anni event, store hh for these events and monthly card if we'll get it like CN. 100+ OP from Babel Ch14 and Aegir event before Nymph banner, and with that volume of rolling on 4 banners and the yellow certs I already have I'll get one full hh buyout in cert shop. With everything combined I'm confident I'll get all 4 if I have a bit over 400 right now, unless I got extremely unlucky.

I'm pulling for Ascalon and most likely skipping Wis'adel, My account has 0 need for another damage dealer, even if that damage dealer is leagues ahead of everyone else, i've never met a stage i couldn't complete with what i have so i just pull for characters i like at this point.

Well if you use your brain in mild function you'll notice this blissfull feeling of ignorance that's comforting you against your better judgement, what you're succumbing to is called, "cope". You may not have had a stage that you can't clear yet, assuming you cleared all hell stages, DoS S-3, and high risk CC... but do you use chalter, surtr, and mlynar? The units, that at the time of their release, broke the game. What happened? The game got harder. So without Wisadel I will already tell you that you will not be clearing everything in the future, and have fun borrowing her when you could have just got her, but instead you chose to cope. IS5 is already not possible without her. You see when a unit is LEAGUES better than all others, it really hurts when you actually require them for something, as they're irreplaceable. @@ILikeDeers well... technically as long as you have all 4* at max lvl and module... you are fine. the stage is always designated to be cleared with 4* and 1 support unit. that is why Kyostin can always find a way to low rarity guide. but yeah, PULL FOR WAAIIFFFUUU

I've skipped so much during these last months that I feel like the Walter event will be the end of my life as well. I also have a freaking W's tatoo on my pure incontaminated body. I've stopped smoking for her. I've bought action figures and other similar gadgets about her. I've drugged my ears with her theme songs (and I hate rap music). I'm start thinking that i secretly hate her for what she is doing to me, but I just can't stop. That damn roach don't wanna die. No matter how much I nuclearize my mind with other things. She remains there, lurcking inside my brain, waiting for condaming my soul to some absurd and deviated circle of hell.
I honestly would consider pulling for ascalon if not because my fund got obliterated by ela and walter and logos looming over the horizon in which ulpipi also call me for pick up. She is trully unfortunate, sandwich between two limited operator. For odda tho, he is free so i would raise him.
Only reason i care to pull walter is because she's limited. She's definitely very cool and obviously absurdly powerful, but if she was in the standard headhunting pool i would be totally fine skipping her. I just dont like having to artificially wait to pull for an operator if i want to build them after their debut

ambusher strats are pretty niche to begin with. you're either there for CC or damage and they're not necessarily the top units for either one. If you need more or less continuous true AOE CC or damage, that's where they live, but that's very situational and it's not like there are not ways around that. they excel at tackling low hp swarms... but so do a lot of other operator typs. unless Ascalon was going to completely break her archetype, like Wisadel, then she was doomed no matter when she got released.

Counterpoint wisadel is so ridiculously powerful that she makes the game more boring, by not rolling her you can enjoy the game more and have more tactical difficulty in maps. Also ascalon has milf energy gg
I have 500pulls saved and still not 110% sure if i go for one 6* at ascalon banner or not..likely yes..wont hurt me if its not 70pulls and getting an off banner...happened plenty times
They are not even Irene supporter to begin with, since they doesn't even benefit that much beside Ho'ol -1 weight talent. Irene can't hit aired beside s3, so she can't get sp if you leviate them too frequently. s1 and s2 is an instant nuke and always apply def ignore if she leviate anyway, so they don't care about the other leviate skill, while all those skill last too short to make use of out side of Qani s2 and Ho'ol s3 for Irene s3

Ascalon is heavily undersold here. Ascalon doesn't "break" the game but that doesn't mean she isn't as good. She does everything better than every Ambusher because she doesn't just stall, she kills units at the same time. Her damage is better than Mizuki by a mile, her slow (goes about 84% or more upon S2 activation) actually cripples the enemy that they might as well stop walking (AND it affects aerial units) and her uptime is insanely better than Ethan. It's not even a debate and this video just shows how shortsighted someone can be when given a totally broken unit and thinks "if it ain't better than this then it's not worth it". I know that's not what he said but the over implication that she isn't worth pulling just because she doesn't "break" the Ambusher class in the same way W'isadel breaks the Sniper class is insane. Wisadel is an anomaly, a stupidly extreme outlier. Just because Ascalon doesn't break the Ambusher class does not mean she's only marginally better than Mizuki and Ethan. Ascalon is great in the same way Eyja has been the golden child of the Caster class for years. Eyja doesn't break the game but you'd be stupid af if you think Eyja is only marginally better than Ceobe or any other strong Casters

Her s2 still out job most of aoe/splash caster, thats made everyone want her. Despite I like that kind of operator, Ill be bias and not want all operator became like that. Because if its happens the game will be bland.
@@TamaRa-e9x brother, Eyja didn't break the game. She just happened to be one of the strongest Operators in the game when there is literally no one else at the time. When I say breaking, I mean Wisadel levels of breaking the game. When one character can trivialize 95% of the stages in the game on their own, that's called breaking the game. Eyja wasn't that. She's just strong, REALLY strong but not to the point that she trivialized the game with the consistency that Wisadel currently holds. Her S2 is exactly why she's the golden child of casters pre-Logos. Her S2 is equivalent to Ascalon's S2. It's strong and it puts many of their colleagues out of commission but it's not game-breaking. It just makes them significantly better than everyone else. That's my issue with this fast review. it undersells Ascalon when her potential is on the level of Eyja. Eyja, even with Logos, will never be irrelevant to the game. Ascalon is the same way. She isn't just marginally better, she's literally ten steps ahead of her class. To emphasize on the Eyja comparison, even if Eyja is by far the best caster pre-Logos, it doesn't mean no caster ever competed against her. Ceobe and Goldenglow are both strong contenders in the Caster class. And while they can't affect stages to the degree that Eyja can, Ceobe and GG still has something in their arsenal that only they can do. Lin is also another example of this. As strong as Eyja is, she didn't make the entirety of Casters close to irrelevancy in the same way Wisadel is currently doing for Snipers

But, if the new one just on par with the existing one theres no need to pull the new one, moreover if its limited. Thus thats why wisadel is created and operator like eyja was also broken even it just at the times she released. And for the ceobe and GG Im agree with. Its just unfortunate she became third priority or even less because she got overshadowed by eyja (or others like GG, Ifrit, and Logos).
