I'm reminded of a Tumblr post. "The 2 most traumatized and deranged dudes in the world both think they can fix each other, 50 million dead, 80 million injured."
There's a quote from Astarion where he says that he isn't religious because he prayed to every god while with cazador and none of them helped him. Now he can help people in similar situations :)
You guys have Astarion in such a high esteem lol. He'll most likely be a random perverse god. Since he became an Ascendant Vampire, he could be pretty much the God of Vampires. I don't think so, but it would also feat a God of Rebellion, since he dethrone Cazador and took its place. Successful rebellions tend to create new tyrants - instead of solving the problem, just as Ascendant Astarion does - , so, he could come along with Bane.
You... may be right?? (Not me making a Gale Origin run and romancing Astarion.... also not me romancing Astarion just because I literally can't romance anyone else 😶🌫️)
Ge still has his banter lines but yeah it’s not nearly as good! BUT his origin run was well worth it for the extra insight into his mind and decisions 🙏🏻
I continue to argue that any ending that sticks Ascended Astarion in a place where he can't do much damage (Avernus, Elysium) is probably the best possible ending for that route lol. That way he be the delightfully egotistical, vain bastard he is somewhere the rest of Faerun doesn't have to deal with him.
When he became a god i can't really agree on the part that nobody will have to deal with him in Faerûn... 🤣🤣 I'm quite sure that he can mess with people nonetheless 😂
To be fair, a law of the planes is that they change around the beings that influence them and vice-versa. Gods that started in Elysium but « go bad » will start sliding their part of Elysium downwards towards the lower planes that match their morality… So, this is both an end for Gale&Astation, but also an entirely new beginning
@@florianefoxDo we really believe he’s going to do much beyond preen in a mirror and scream his own name during sex, though? I’m hedging our bets we’re pretty safe.
@@user-ey7qi9iz8rnot sure ascended astarion is the merciful type… Considering he sacrificed 7000 of his own kind to gain power. Spawn Astarion on the other hand, I could see him helping others who were in his position.
The thing about DnD gods, they have portfolios. For lesser gods, they can share portfolios but for greater deities, they cannot share portfolios. It sounds that Gale just became a greater deity and thus why he isn’t a deity of magic. Astarion would most likely, as ascended, be a god of vampires and undead since there isn’t a portfolio for that. Since all of the “death” gods portfolio specializes on things that death involve, like grieving from Shar, decay from Myrkul, etc.
i think he could branch off a responsibility to another god. mystra did something like that with her first chosen/boyfriend. she empowered him to the point of godhood and i think he deals with written spells as his portfolio. so still magic, but not the weave itself. but astarian becoming his own kind of god with his own portfolio feels more like something astarian would want.
@@themudpit621 not really. We didn’t actually kill the dead three. We only killed their chosen and or their avatars. And those are different in DnD. Killing an actual god is almost impossible. You either need a god to willingly use part of their own divinity to kill another god or cause them to have no more followers.
This is what I was thinking. I think Larian took some liberties here, because I was of the impression that only Ao could make mortals into gods. Maybe a god can sponsor a mortal, but it's Ao that does the deed. But who knows, maybe that did indeed happen and Gale was given the power to do so.
@@andrewbaker3954 There have been a few mortals who have risen to godlike power but aren't recognized as an /actual/ god with a capital G until Ao deems it. Best example is Cyric, who was turned into a true god (for a brief while) as a punishment by Ao lol I think he said something like "oh yeah you wanna be a god so bad you killed Mystra? Sure thing, buddy." Then made him a god just to show how limiting it is to follow god protocols. I'm assuming God!Gale is right around that same spot as Cyric, probably a few hairs away from Ao coming down to bat.
so now we have a God of Ambition, which sounds like a particularly powerful portfolio to possess, and possibly a new God of Ego and Sass, or whatever else would suit Astarion, at his side. for some reason I'm just imagining Astarion giving all of those older gods a lot of sass during each and every encounter, annoying them to no end at first
For Astarions Domain, I would guess "relief". Escaping Cazadors torment, ending this constant threat to his (un)life and freedom, getting rid of his biggest fear, ascending to become immune to the sun, ending his endless hunger... I think it would fit, or is that domain already taken?
@@darkurgediaries Well, in a sense it would conflict with Ilmater. Though he grants relief by taking on the suffering of others or encouraging others to do so. Astarion would rather stomp out the source of suffering. But it probably fits better with the spawn ending, since his ascended personality is not above inflicting on others himself. As demonstrated when he popped each member of his family like a water balloon.
the god of Revenge would be a good one for Ascendarion (if its not taken), or Determination/Resilience. In fact Determination would be a great fit with Gale's Ambition - the god of dreaming big, and the god of making those big dreams a reality.
If he doesn't Ascend, it could be Sanctuary. He'd have grown compassion for all who had similar experiences to him. He harbours those who seek him out.
To let him become a God seems like the best ending for unascended Astarion. He gets all the power he dreamt of and more without sacrificing thousands of innocent souls and part of himself.
He doesn’t lose any of himself when he ascends, writers confirmed in a recent interview that ascended astarion is still himself just coping with fear in a not so healthy way. The only thing undone is the “progress” made during the journey, but really this is a matter of perspective. If you want to play as a villain, from that perspective, it’s all a plus. Also, vampire spawn are considered monsters in dnd and to be killed anyway 🤷🏻♀️
@@darkurgediaries both outcomes are bittersweet and tragic in a way and I love him both ways. But to me not ascending is more his 'good' ending, so to renounce vampire ascension and instead become a God with Gale seems like the best possible outcome to me and the reward he deserves for acting so selfless after everything he's been through. I know it's still an ending many won't get because you have to play Astarion (or maybe also Gale?) origin to make it happen.
@@hanna-liminal lol Bhaal is the god of murder, though. blood does not have to come from murder or violence. imagine it, scores of his female followers dedicating each monthly flow to him, lol. that actually would not be a terrible rout to take , though. it would ensure he has followers, even if it's just during their time of the month. that'd still be thousands a day.
I could see both unascended and ascended Astarion as the god of freedom and self-determination. His ascended status would just change the flavor of it. Unascended would want people to have the freedom to choose the course of their lives, ascended would encourage people to seek power that they may control their own lives. Either would be a good companion to the God of Ambition, and I could see Astarion's ascended status considerably influencing Gale. Ambition is morally neutral. Power can be morally neutral, it depends on how you wield it.... but as the saying goes "Absolute power corrupts absolutely". Ascended Astarion + God Gale are a power couple that would seek to have control of everything, and then once they had that they would probably destroy each other in an attempt to gain more. Unascended Astarion could easily end up in the same place, but it'd take longer. The romantic in me hopes that they could keep their egos and jealousy out of their relationship, but that feels unlikely.
While I mostly agree with you, if the boys got too much power from their god-hood, I assume AO would ultimately destroy them. That, or some thing else would. Basically I'm saying their times as gods, while obviously long compared to that of the lifespan of most creatures in Faerun, would be essentially pretty short overall. This is me taking into account that technically Astarion is still an idiot when life choices and Gale could technically be upsurped by another god or even just a determined magic user. I did a light skim of how Mystryl and others died (and got replaced) and AO would only need to do that to end these two. Maybe even less.
This is an amazing ending! Ascendant Astarion/God Gale might be my favorite couple from the Origins. I know many hate both of these versions, personally I am happy that they are thriving beyond the boundaries of your average good ending.
Gale: *sees Astarion sacrifices 7000 souls to become a true vampire* "Ok yay I'll take him and make him a god." *And actually makes Astarion a god* Astarion: "Thanks". What I need to know is what happens next for them, if godhood restores a bit of the past Astarion before he ascended or if he just gets worse, and if Gale cares or not, given he can make him a god after he condemn 7000 souls to hell I think he doesn't, probably because ambition also drove him to go beyond morality and mortality. I dunno. But it's a very interesting ending, a vampire becoming a god, can he becomes a god even if he stays as a spawn?
i think gale will just honor ambition, regardless of intent. similar to Mystra, in that she commends creating new spells, regardless of if they are "evil" or not. it's about the magic and not the intent. same with gale and ambition. and being a god now, it's totally his prerogative to do what he wants, so /shrug. lol
This is a fascinating ending tbh, considering Astarion is a vampire and still has his bite scars once he is ascended as well. He should have bitten Gale at the end lol
THANK YOU for uploading this ending! I was out here wondering if they would make this couple break up in the epilogue or not (since apparently the devs mentioned ascended astarion would be jealous of God gale). I'm really curious how the epilogue would play out from God gale's perspective, however. Well, yet another excuse for a new playthrough lol.
With Gale-Origin it breaks the romance (like with Githyanki leaving their romance to fight in the civil war and such) unfortunately, at least with Spawnstarion. But I am glad it works this way around, I'll have to try giving my Spawnstarion an alternate route to ascension this way. 😄
I imagine ones that already existed would become high ranking followers of his domain. Willingly or not. Doubt he'd be creating new spawn too frequently if at all anymore from that point onwards and would just wait for natural followers. After all, our power hungry duo can only have their power if nobody else is powerful enough to take it from them.
I do wonder, becoming ascendant seems to stifle astarions “humanity” and sense of empathy, does he REGAIN those qualities he had as a spawn when attaining godhood? Or is he now the evil ascended astarion who now also just has god powers
The ritual brings him to life again (no longer undead) and his mortal drives and ambitions return to him, and it removes all negative side effects of vampirism. In my opinion it’s not that he doesn’t have emotions, because he clearly does when his careful mask slips on occasion. it’s that he is guarding those emotions and empathy very closely with said mask. I feel being a god would either help him to feel less guarded and thereby lessen his desire for power (which ultimately equates to safety & protection that he is desperate for) or he would just go full world domination haha Of course anyone is free to interpret these things as they will but this is my two cents.
As a god you basically lose those, or be punished. Mystra got into trouble for that post-godhood. So whatever portfolio Astarion picks up, that would be his only focus. If Gale's portfolio doesn't have any similarity their relationship is basically over. Gale clearly didn't learn his former mistress's history well enough. I also can't imagine Ao rewriting the Tablets on Gale's whimsy, or any of the evil gods happily giving space to these two, so these two will have a long, ugly road ahead of them.
Gale as a gof of Ambition I feel could provide a major conflict in the future. Ambition is good, but like Greed or Zealotry I would consider it a good driving force for a major villain and Gale already by act 3 I feel cpuld enter that path.
There is a new raphael epilogue where he basically says what’s going to happen to god gale, I’ve uploaded it and you can find it in my raphael playlist!
Funnily enough, I think Astarion would change being a god....as an Ascendant he had ambition, but now he's hit peak; I think he'd suddenly have all the time in Elysium to reflect. I think he'd pair off with Gale's Ambition and become a deity with domains of Freedom, Healing, and Justice. "Seek justice against those who wrong you, and receive succor in your times of desperate need. And don't be afraid to dream big, Darlings. Don't let others imprison or hold you back."
Astarion should be the God of the Helpless. The one people can pray to and actually be listened to, as opposed to what he himself experienced. Either that, or God of Stunting on your Former Abusers, which I also support.
Okay, now i HAVE to finish my started Astarion playthrough where i had planned for him to romance Gale. Their banter between each other just screams rivals to lovers, and that epilogue just... ugh.... i love it so much! Its so sweet its giving me diabetes
What the hell this must have been bugged for me, I did the same exact route on my ascended astarion origin and never got the final godhood ascension scene :( gale just told me to wait and that he'd turn me into a god one day and the party ended
I saw someone saying it breaks the romance. Tbh I also think you can't, speaking from experience as I played Origin Astarion and ascended him wanting to turn romanced Shadowheart into his "consort", but the game never gives you the option and plays like normal Tav with her wanting to move to the farm, etc :(
GOD, the way i gasped when the silver light that looked good on gale changed to golden 😭 that Elysium lighting is not one bit flattering on his skin you can see everything......... i hope i'm not the only one
AAstarion’s domain would be Selfishness and Vanity, can def pair with ambition in a chaotic neutral/evil pair of gods Spawn Astarions domain would - in a poetic world - be Forgiving the Unforgivable, New Beginnings for those who seek redemption, and answering the prayers of those whom the Gods have turned away Someone else said it below - but Astarion being the God of Hope pairs well with the God of Ambition - more true neutral alignment
This somehow didn’t work for me. I only had the option to tell gale that I don’t recognise him anymore… but I’m happy you gave me the chance to see the actual ‘evil’ bloodweave ending! Thank you:)
does becoming a god cure astarion's vampirism? it didn't heal his scars, but considering how different gale looks, maybe astarion will transform further once he's picked him domain. if not maybe he can be the god of vampires, that feels pretty fitting for the ascendant vampire
That’s a good question, it would probably be up to the god in question i suppose, and i think he would keep his ascended powers since all the negative side effects of vampirism are gone with it anyway and he is living again so not much reason to want a cure 🤔
