To clarify... The La Prima wheel base can be upgraded to Forte but not Invicta, but La Prima Pedals and Wheel can both be upgraded to Forte or Invicta, sorry if that wasn't clear.

Console compatibility is needed asap. I'm sure they'd sell a shed load as they'd leapfrog the competition. The DD1, DD PRO, G PRO, upcoming T818 still aren't good enough (worth the money to me personally) to tempt me away from my old Thrustmaster T300 but the Forte certainly would. All the others mentioned seem to have issues with either quality, usability or functionality but the Forte seems to have nailed it. They just need a round Rally style wheel along with console support and I'm all in!

Pineapplegrips sell a colour kit to cover over the orange accents on the Forte wheel. It looks pretty cool when it's all blacked out

Just as a point of clarification the La Prima is upgradeable ti the Forte with the PCB and LEDs but it is NOT upgradable to the Invicta die tona different motor and housing :)

Really would love a more in depth comparison of the driving experience between this and your dd1. I obviously know that the asetek by far the better base but would just like to hear exactly how you think the difference is. Fact that I need console compatibility and that I got such a good deal on the PS4/5 podium f1 bundle I will be stuck with my dd1 for quite awhile but either the simucube or one of these will be my most likely upgrade in a couple years.I love the experience my dd1 gives me and the detail over my t300 I had before but I do know it leaves some to be desired with the QR and what not but overall is a very good product for what I paid.

Hey Karl, you still using this wheelbase after a year? I dont think I ever saw you do the Invicta wheelbase review. Did you ever get to try it out and compare it to the Forte to see if there was any noticeable difference?

The Invicta is my daily base, there's no real difference in driving experience just more torque available, extra LED's and USB ports.

It's just a very refined Simucube Pro (literally the same hardware, they are in partnership) so easy to get it right, I'd be very surprised to find a negative review out there.

Hey Karl, another great review. Have you received and tested the universal quick release yet? I’m expecting the Forte range to be delivered next week and would like to try some drifting but as you say, a formula wheel isn’t ideal for rally/drifting.

Spot on with Asetek giving a very good service. They respond very fast, and give you a proper and honest answer 👌🏻👏🏼, the sad thing is that I asked for playstation/console compatibility, and, for now they can not offer that, but still, they actually answered that they are trying, thumbs up for that. (It would be nice to be able to use "higher" end products with your gran turismo ie.)

The issue is on the console manufacturers side. They make you jump through hoops regarding firmware etc and licencing fees. Especially Sony.

@@matta2738 I am fully aware of that, and that was also the message from Asetek 😁 but at least they informed me that THEY hoped to be able to offer it in the future, and that they were working on it ( licensing, security chips etc.), but couldnt say when. Point is, they responded, none of all other I have contacted did that.

I dont understand the marketing by these companies. Releasing the product to be reviewed yet you cant purchase it for 3-4 months. To me this is idiotic. A company should have the quantities needed for public demand at the time of review. I am VERY interested in this set, even the pedals and all the kit that can be bought for it but I promise you it will fade in three or four months and I will purchase another brand simply from impatience.

What’s there not to understand? They send to reviewers because the first production batch is usually near final, and then it gets into mass production. The reviewers generate the hype so viewers can anticipate. Mate, this was announced months ago, and today you’re still VERY interested after this video. You’ll still be VERY VERY interested in 3-4 months time. Guess the marketing works.

Karl, you have something magical going on with your videos. I watched a couple other reviews of Asetek's wheelbases, and I don't feel the urge to skip ahead to the conclusion. What ever you are doing, keep doing it. This is by far the most relatable and watchable review, so far. I like the wheelbase. I kind of wish I had the need to switch from my CSL-DD, I'd definitley get this. Also, I can imagine someone is already working on an after market flange adapter to make Asetek's wheelbases work with Simucube's standard front mounts.

Hey Karl, are you going to be reviewing PS VR2 and GT7 VR? Would be good to get a techie's opinion who's knowledgeable about driving games/sims. On a separate but related matter, I'm interested to know how the headset handles reprojection, I'm seeing from some that it causes a 'ghosting' or 'double-image' effect when head turning in games running at native 60 FPS reprojected to 120 FPS (artificial) - much like the PS VR1 with it's software 'trick'. For me, this causes headaches which turn into nausea hence my curiosity. It's definitely not a 'get-your-VR-legs' issue as I'm fine on games with higher native frame rates.

Slew rate is the "rate of change" as I said mate, it could be voltage, current or in this case torque over time.... but what this means in real terms to the end user is response.

@@KarlGosling Unfortunately not, it is the possibility of decreasing the speed with the same set force. talking about reactivity confuses the user because the servo remains reactive in the same way the only thing is that it has softer acceleration ramps.... reactivity means how fast the servo responds to a certain event and that remains the same.. changing the acceleration rate means instead that that event will occur with a smoother acceleration because it will reach a maximum peak more slowly....

I'm curious about how the Forte wheel grips feel. The tops look quite square , with sharp edges and flat surfaces. Any problems with hot/sore spots on your thumbs?

I would wait and save more money because with 700 EUR you can barely get an entry level Direct Drive bundle. Fanatec's Gran Turismo DD Bundle is 700 Euros, 5Nm base, the very ugly Gran Turismo wheel, and only the break and throttle of the CSL LC pedals - probably the cheapest way to get into Direct Drive.

Any idea if the direct bottom mounting matches the pattern on the gt omega prime wheel deck? Thinking of getting the forte bundle and I'm conflicted on mounting. I have gotten used to having a shelf next to my wheel for my gloves. Or maybe I won't need those? The G920 feels nasty without gloves.

I'm kinda wondering; have we reached peak tech with wheelbases? Like the torque levels are already more than you'd ever need and the resolution is incredible. There's not much more a next gen wheelbase could add to that right?

Wouldn't surprise me at this point if we see more focus on just enhancing each base or software stuff for these direct drives. However I also feel eventually they'll be more exploring the pedal market & what can be shaped more there. And or maybe trying to make motion rigs or something like ButtKicker more enhancing to each rig. That's just my guess though.

Obviously subjective, but I'm not a fan of how the wheel looks. The combination of materials, shape and color choices make it look a little toy-like and too futuristic. I don't get the smell of racing fuel by looking at it, if you know what i mean. I'm sure it's great quality tho, and i love my Forte pedals

I wonder how tough it will be to sell and recoup your investment on an upgraded unit when you’re done with it. It won’t have the upgrade model name but the investment will be similar if you invest in the upgrade kit… perhaps more… just a thought.

I’ve been thinking similar too. I remember one of the first videos Asetek made they talked about this is ‘recycling’, not wasting and being better for the environment etc. I kinda think it’s the opposite. If you have a Forte and then upgrade to the Invicta PCB, you then have a useless PCB sitting there doing nothing. On the contrary if you just sell the Forte, someone will make use of the whole item.

Hi Karl, new subscriber here. I apoplogise if I have asked this already on another of your videos, but I am almost ready to pull the trigger on this wheelbase + rim, but not the pedals as I feel the brake will be too stiff for my liking. So, I am looking at getting the simagic P1000 pedals and am keen to know if the forte base will accommodate the simagic pedals via one of the USB type c ports? Or are all those ports there exclusively for Asetek peripherals? I tried messaging Asetek but they have not responded yet. If I do go ahead, I will click on your link 😁

@@doifeellucky had abit of bad luck with parcel force but that was not down to Upshift The manager Jason and his team could not do enough for me .Any way it's here and it's bloody awesome...I'll be honest watching the video the wheel itself looks cheap but in real life its solid weighty and looks quality...its gonna take some time getting me head round it all coming from a thrustmaster TS PC...wow this is no toy super strong ffb.

@@garysmith70 I’ve currently got an old T500RS so it should be a significant improvement. I recently got the Fanatec CSL Elite V2 pedals and was considering the Moza R9 but think I should probably just get one of these to avoid buyers remorse. Thanks for the reply.

6.5 or 6.1 per milli second ..... slightly faster, I dont think anyone would notice the difference. I like the idea of no wireless or batteries like the Fanatec models but owning a few wheels I would need that connection. LED's are ok on wheels ( have the Cube control F-Pro) but that universal quick release I am not sure how long that would last, I actually put a 3rd party HRS xero play on my rig but that was a waste of money as I very rarely change wheels ( I am a open wheel driver). With those arms if you cant run 27nM then most have no chance and the Forte is all they would need btw: you do come across as a fan boi

Seems t o be a potentially great wheel...but I'll stick with my new Moza R5 for a while. I've already spent tons of $$$ on a rig, 55" OLED, new gaming pc, bass shakers....how do I afford a $1500+ DD wheel wheen I alread spend $565 for my R5???

Regarding fanatec DD1, i have tried both dd1 and dd2 and notice dd2 is way superior to dd1 at simular torque levels (around 11Nm)

Dude they run the EXACT same motor...At same peak they will feel exactly the same until you ask it to push beyond 20nm peaks.

Karl I think there needs to be some corrections, I dont think you can upgrade either the la Prima or forte to Invicta spec, asetek have never suggested that will be possible they have only ever said you can make a la Prima a forte with pcb upgrade which would indicate the la Prima and forte use the same motor which will almost certainly have the same slew rate and other specs and the la Prima just has a detuned pcb. The Invicta seems to be a different motor entirely, much higher slew rate and power target so almost certainly a different motor that couldn’t be matched with a pcb upgrade. I think a lot of people like the idea of buying a forte and then making it a Invicta and I think that’s simply not correct. Everything asetek has ever said has only been la Prima to forte and they even indicate that on the website in the la Prima specs, no mention of Invicta spec upgrade.

GT Omega Prime Lite if you're wanting one without a seat and if you want a seat you could just use one from a car in a breakers yard. It's on sale as it's a new product but only for another 3 days. Karl has recently uploaded a review of it.

In my honest opinion you are best off shopping for a used Alu rig on marketplaces at that price point

For that price point you may want to shop used. If you need a new rig, the GTomega ART is in your price range. Your size/strength will affect the amount of flex you experience. Im a light weight and used a 8nm base/load cell pedals on a old gtomega pro rig (which many consider flexy) and had no issues except with the shifter/handbrake mount. There was also minor flex in the middle of the chassis under very very heavy braking. The ART is the replacement for the old pro rig and addressed these issues.

This is not an important criteria to be honest. The peak slew rate is much more important. The Forte is similar or even better than the SC2 ultimate. The Invicta is much more better than the SC2 ultimate. It seems that simucube is measuring their slew peak rate "different". I don't want to say they are lying but this was noticed in different reviews.

Resolution is the same as I said in the review mate (same hardware is used). Slew rate is indeed tested slightly differently.

Bases seem good, but the wheel looks quite ugly. Fanatec F1 wheels, TH SF1000 much better.

The La Prima bundle is the exact same price as the Logitech pro with the pedals. The Asetek is 1 NM more, which seems pointless because every review I've seen says the Logitech has a smoother feel. I think I'll buy the pro if they can ever get the pedals back in stock. I do think Asetek is going to be putting some good stuff out once they can get the kinks out though.

i dont think the logitech will have a smoother feel to it. Also, there are alot of other problems with the logitech one. If you already have it, just injoy it. but if you need to choose between that one and asetek, for me its easy choosing asetek

@@MrJoppashoppa As soon as I saw Boosted Media able to pop the wheel off the quick release on the Asetek by twisting it I knew I'd never get one. Watch their review, they go very deep in detail. They're just not ready for mass sale yet IMO, not for $1350+. The Logitech isn't having those problems.

their wheels looks are "cheap" and boring. if someone told me this costs 150$ i would believe him. also forte+wheel is too expensive in the moza/simagic/logitech era. Its better? Maybe. but the price is just too much.
