Great interview, there were some points I wish Ebro would've let Ashanti finish saying what she wanted to say. I also REALLY LOVE how open she was in this interview.
It makes me happy that her Mom is still her manager. I remember in middle school when we had to take sex ed they showed us a video about the "changes we are going to be going through" and Ashanti and her Mom were in it.
I really liked Ashanit/Nelly. Their chemistry was very present. Be nice if they could reunite. However, no one knows their situation better than them, and they know what's best.
Seen this Somewhere:: Nelly and Ashanti been seen PLENTYYY times on red carpets together, events together, Nelly EVEN took Ashanti to T.I and TIny's Wedding. NElly EVEN had Ashanti perform at his Traditional Black And White Party, where she in-fact perform a song and dance on him. Nelly was even the leading male lover in Ashanti's "Good Good" video. Ashanti was NElly's leading lover in his "Body On Me" video. Nelly even said in an interview that he NEVER denied a "relationship" he had with Ashanti, nor did she EVER deny a "relationship" with him and even said that he wanted to see these interviews where they BOTH denied each other OR claimed each other. You NOT gone find one because there isn't one he said. And the reason why he never married her because he said in an interview that he ONLY wants to get married ONCE!, he not the type to get marry more than that and he wanted to wait to be sure. HIm and Ashanti had relationship problems CLEARLY,. Nelly NEVER played Ashanti. And if he did, like nelly said, Show me when or where he PLAYED her.
Ashanti's new single is nice, and the records I heard that she released so far have been nice. Especially for her, for R&B, and it shows her evolution, but staying true to herself. With all the bull we got on the radio now, nobody needs to be talking about Ashanti's new record in any sort of bad way.
Ashanti's a good girl. Quality woman, very tight knit with her family. I don't know what the hell was wrong with Nelly. It ain't a lot of good women out there. And he just lost one. What an idiot!
I think your being biased talking more from a fans perspective. Nelly is a celebrity and he is a guy. Lots of woman, way hotter than Ashanti throw themselves at him. He is young, rich, and famous what is he going to do...say no "I'm um..with Ashanti". Don't think so. Look at Ashanti, she is a nice girl, rich, but is far from being as hot as the girls who throw themselves at Nelly. It's funny because given her status I'm sure she could land some older, rich gentleman who would appreciate a young hot trophy wife. But as for Nelly, I think it's a matter of "been there, done that...left...came back and did it again...now I'm gone" type of situation. Look at Ludacris, he is young rich and his fiance is in medical school to become a doctor. She isn't rich, but she's smart, and she is one of the hottest woman out there. Mike Jone...what? Mike Jones, he got his girl in law school and she is hot.

I totally agree with you the OP. Real talk, he is crazy. She is gorgeous, funny and has a bubbly personality. I think Nelly can't stand someone else having her which is why he is still bubbling in the picture but at the same time, he still wants to be a player. I would not deal with these crazy industry guys for lovers or boyfriends. Too much heartache
She laughs like that in EVERY interview. no matter what she's talking about. I think its just her personality. I think its great the woman has a sense of humor
This is a year old, but there still good friends, isn't that more than enough? Nelly and Ashanti even said it themselves that the relationship was an "unusual" one. To me, i think the media caused them to break up because they were all up in their business, when they're trying to keep the relationship private. The music business is nothing but a corrupted business. Even though she was big in the early 00's making hits after hits with murder inc. I can tell she was in a dark place of her career during that time. That is what kind of affected her music career since she took a long absence from music after murder inc. But I am glad she is all grown up now and has climbed back. Ashanti is a great artist with great vocals. To bad the music businees is corrupted.
If you listen to Irv and JaRule's interview with Charlamagne , Irv has said that at that time he was high off of Extacy. He was so high at the time that he even threw J-Lo under the bus, that is why when J-Lo talks about her past on tv, she only starts at the point where she got with Diddy and Living Color, not much about Murder, Inc. Also Irv was blacklisted, like he said the Feds told everybody in the business not to work with him. He could not produce for years. I guess people wanted her to stay and wait.
No offense to Ashanti but I will be damned if I be with someone for 9 years and get dumped. He would have got four years and that's it, no ultimatums nothing just do you want to get married one day, and he say no and I'm out.

Mental institutions are all but abolished now a days and all that's left is imprisonment. Prisons are nothing but private businesses where a few people make most of the money. It's almost 2014 and we're talking about Irv Gotti! He needs to revive his career and stop complaining about Ashanti. She's got it right now and he doesn't. He should be on the come up and stop complaining about the past.
As soon as they stopped making money, she left…out her own mouth. That's not loyalty. The fact that Irv is salty and she's not shows that she wasn't riding. You can hide EVERYTHING in your personal life from people for 10 years, but don't expect the fans who pay you to trust what you say or connect with you on a personal level.
She was with the Inc AFTER the stop making money. She was the only to release an album on that label after 06. She left because Irv went around saying she wasn't loyal because she wanted to do her album on her own. But whatever

Did she not lose endormesnt deals for The Inc? Was she not going to court cases when she wasn't suppose to. Its not all her fault Irv played a role in it too. Everytime he gets mad at someone he throws them under the bus like he did Lloyd, J. Lo and Lil Mo.
She has talent. She may not be the best singer, but she can sing, and she writes her own stuff. She's also in charge of her career now, and like somebody said, Irv was foul himself.
David Washington Agreed. Her voice is not a powerhouse but she can carry a tune. I like her new record too. And everyone would be frotin' to say they did not BANG her first cd, non singing in all. It was great and I love that she is a true artist with her writing. If she never sang again she could always be behind the scenes with a pen.
first of all sweetie she didnt shit on them, how would you feel if you were on a label that's supposed to be legit then you get hit up by the feds because they still selling drugs to build the brand. Murder Inc was just a bunch of thugs and drug dealers trying to pretend they're real when they werent. She was arrested and questioned just for being linked to them and then she lost endorsements, opportunities, and other things that would've have been put her back on the map because of the. She was filming movies and leaving to be by their side when she wasnt supposed too and could've lost her job. and for the record they didnt have much to do with her music career as far as her getting the grammy's and stuff she got she was singing and writing her own music before she met them, she was signed to Jive Records at 14 the same time Brittany and Christina signed to Jive and diddy wanted her to sign to Bad Boy so if she couldnt sing none of those powerhouse labels and execs would have wanted her so hard. And in the past six years seven majors have come to her for working with them but she turned them down to do her own thing so she wouldnt get caught up in the bull shit again so get that together and know your facts and get off of Irv and Ja Rules dick that is what's wrong with the black culture as a whole we spend too much time idolizing thugs, rappers, and drug dealers who have nothing going for them but that and I am glad she got away from them, had she stayed she'd be just like Charli Baltimore and Vita who havent had a hit or album since Murder Inc and they werent pushed that hard so all that shit you talking is BS and a non factor.
Note what she says at 1:00 - something along the lines of some things went public compared to other things that went public before. I think she is referencing that she knew he was having an affair.
