IDK why people wouldn't admit that, those are facts! For a split second literally, she had everyone's attention, then that MURDER INC. case happened and she fell by the wayside. However.....I will say that Destiny's Child went through a lot of bullshit in the public eye as far as their image in concerned and still look what happened with them and Beyonce'. That can't be compared to a federal case but she was worried about her image as well.
Michael Ashanti's debut did not outsell Dangerously In Love album! She had a better 1st week sales but Dangerously In Love album sold more & lasted longer on the charts!

Singers that are signed to rap labels or in rap groups usually don't have big careers. Look at Truth Hurts ( signed to Dr.Dre label) and Olivia ( G unit). People associate Beyonce with Jay z, but she was never signed to his label. Plus she had a career before she knew him. Ashanti would of did better on her own instead of being with Murder Inc.

Ashanti had a great moment in the early 2000's she was the main R&B chick at one point. after Aaliyah died and before Beyonce went officially solo. But she was on the wrong label at the wrong time. if it wasn't for 50 cent destroying her label, things could of been different.

I agree to an extent, but alot of ppl and labels at that time was being investigated. not just murder Inc. behind closed doors they could of bounced back. But the real blow came with 50 Cent because that ruin murder Inc. publicly. on the surface he made murder Inc uncool. I'm not a fan of 50 but i do remember the impact he had on New York those days. anything he did or say was Gold. 50, Em, Busta Rhymes and the aftermath team all played a part in the end of murder Inc. One minute in New York ja rule records was being played everywhere. then 50 drops and it got real quiet for ja rule and the label. Even though Ashanti and Lloyd was trying to keep the label up float with the hits, But the damage was already done. Irv Gotti admitted on the Breakfast club that once he heard in the club he looked at Ja rule and said "We have a problem" Which is sad because Ja rule , Ashanti and Lloyd are great artist. So i understand what you're saying far as 50 isn't the reason 100%. for murder inc. demise but he definitely wounded them......

Ashanti is a ICON in the music industry. Millions of albums sold can go on tour and not worry about ticket sales. Even has been on broadway and transitioning to acting. Not as big as she was but that's due to unforeseen issues that she had no control over, which could have finished most ppl career... This woman is a ICON.
