I love Ashen Eye as a character. He's everything a chaotic evil archfey should be; devious, luring people into deals for his own amusement, act irrationally yet composed at the same time and, above all, be a huge troll for the heck of it.

@@gomjabbar6246 its considered evil because its actions are explicitly to the detriment of others, its not seeking to improve something else for self benefit at any point. It's chaos for the sake of chaos at the expense of others, neutral would would allow something else to benefit if that benefit comes back to them in some way, ashen eyes acts as a chaotic force to everything else detriment if it believes they can't get the upper hand otherwise it keeps all interactions purely transactional.

I like to think of Ashen Eye as a teacher of sorts, all though his lessons are quite brutal. Using the fox skin he taught Chise to choose where she truly wanted to be. With Stella he taught her that words have power, and once spoken they can never be taken back and there are dark actors in the world who can hear it and might act on them. In that same lesson Elias and Chise learned the importance of family. Through his actions with Cartophiles he set the stage for his pain to be eased while allowing Chise the opportunity to let go of hers and not let it cripple and define her.

Even though he's a troll, usually trolls have a motive. Not exactly figuring this guy out. He definitely has a grudge against humans though. But why manipulate the kid? He really hates Elias, so I wonder if he know Elias before Elias lost his memories? Maybe even Carpathilus does too?

@@ΥιόςτουΘεού I think that Ashen Eye is most likely a djinn, or inspired by djinns. Obviously, like for pretty much any mythological being, there are various descriptions of djinns too. One of them describes djinns as malevolent spirits that are often portrayed as old and immortal or almost immortal. They also have a tendency of toying with humans while 'granting' them wishes. They tend to twist or 'misunderstand' their wishes thus trapping them. That is what Ashen Eye does when he takes the words of Ethan and Stella literally.

From what i can tell, the ironically hilarious way to deal with Ashen Eyes is to just live mundanely enough to bore him into leaving. The guy is basically the physical incarnation of trolling, so once he gets bored he stops caring and just moves on somewhere else.

Really irks me when the fey call Elias a failure. I much prefer half baked as in not complete. At some point he is going to be complete and those that derided him are gonna be ashamed of what they called him.

Man, the anime would have really been done better if they didnt make it so damn dark. In these 2:40 there are just too many sences where its hard to tell whats going on bc its too dark.
