Dude... It becomes something like VTM:B for me: every time someone mentions Ashes 2063 - somebody will reinstall it. Best total con ever! And one of the favorite games.
Barrett (crazy guy in undercity) was the leader of the bandit group that was stationed at the dam in the first episode. He heard the voice on the radio and went looking, taking most of his forces with him, giving you the opportunity to liberate the dam. You later see some of his men in the sub-caverns level, but they get killed by mutants before you can reach them. The plot is super interconnected like that. Similarly, you hear about the roamers in westside first, since the loot from the motorcycle factory was sent to be shipped up north.
I always kind of wondered what the trucks in westside were doing. I probably should have made that connection myself but I guess I wasn't paying attention in that detail in this particular detail in this playthrough.
@@Skel23 If you talk gently kind with the gooners in front of the wwstside motorshop they will tell you what were that trucks doing...and where they were directed.
Vos will be pissed at you now for calling the Rippers pirates :p They are supposed to look like US revolutionary war rebels. Heh, me and several of the other members of the team had a good laugh at that.
Wow, I literally had no Idea, Taking a closer look at the sprites that definitely makes more sense. I probably should have made the connection after I met the crazy revolutionary dude near the power plant lol.

Hey, love this mod. Some Feedback on the weapons though, Most of the weapons are really solid and fun to use, but the Killer P.I.G seems underpowered. Master blaster has better aoe, and the Junker musket is a better use for slugs.
@@merrittk7403 use it with a brute stim. It might not be efficient but it absolutely destroys any enemy in the game. And it really is meant to be an end game item rather than a workhorse, hence why it has glaring weaknesses.
7:40 If I remember correctly, the Classic Shotgun has a tighter spread than the regular version. Great retrospective! I played this over a year ago and I missed so many secrets...
Great video, it's the most in depth review I've seen for Ashes. Side note, the reloads are much more detailed actually. the 9mm autoloader is actually 15+1, if you empty the reload gives you 15 and it takes slightly longer because you have to chamber a round, battle rifle and AR do the same +1 reload. 9mm Machine Pistol doesn't because it's an open bolt, so it always reloads 32 or 48. The pump shotgun holds 5 in the tube or magazine, number 6 is from loading the breech, which is both a realistic detail but its also strategic: if you empty the pump, you're down for a few to reload it, so do you reload or swap when you hit 0? They're minor details but its absolutely nuts that this free game took the time to put details into every frickin reload, for sprite weapons, in a doom ID Tech 1 game.
cant wait for episode 3 ! about the music, afterglow album is such a blast, i'm listening to it almost everyday, John Weekley made a fantastic job capturing the 80s action movie vibe
I have said this other videos about this game and i say it also here. Ashesh 2063 and Afterglow are easily the best solo game i have played in 15 years and it is free. Once again it is proven that art is art and you cant imitate it even with limitless budget if you do not have talent. All heil to Ashes!
It's a truly amazing mod and something I wish was on Steam so even more people could find it and plat it. I'm really hoping that the team behinds this are working on a third game because I will play the *shit* out of it if that's the case.
@@Skel23 You had it right initially, from what I could tell. Jack has that bus, right? So, why TF would they show a random black sedan if it was meant to be Jack? Also, I decided to just stop freeing Smiley after the second playthrough, and didn't get that part of the end cutscene, so it has to be Smiley who died in the blast.

For mojo fight side quest : you can actually gave him a brute or regen stem ( regrn have a low chance of winning so the brute is better but not 100%) , and you can sell the irradiated titan stem for 50$ worth of junk for the doctor
I know that he can still win with either of those, but using the Irradiated titan stim for the fight is still (Probably) the intended way to complete that side quest. It's also fun to just watch Mojo wipe the floor with the bug dogs.
10:50 well I saw a vent, hugged it for about a minute then said fuck it and napalm jumped in that vent. I was happy to find double-barrel and blast my way with it through the mall but feeling that I found this secret wrong didn't left me. Now I know the answer. Oh, and same happened with 43:12
Yeah, But I ended up skipping it. Usually you'd use it to get the code for the vault in the junkyard but the code is always the same so I didn't end up needing it in this run. You can also use it in some other places for some more miscellaneous worldbuilding bits too.
