THANK YOU 🤝 The emotional intelligence, acting, and writing were TOP notch in the Remake. Down to littlest things that still said SO much. Prime example: Luis, in answering Leon, winces as he replies, “… Because it makes me feel BETTER.. Let’s leave it at that,” delivered with the look he has on his face. Not, “It makes me feel GOOD,” but, “better.” We can feel SO much back story in that line, how guilty, empathetic, and tormented he is about (what I imagine mostly unwittingly) giving birth to the NE-a Type Parasite, thus The Lisa Trevor & Nemesis Projects. And, I say unwitting because we know until Luis was replaced as the head researcher in Illuminados he was the one finding ways to get the plaga OUT of people. It wouldn’t shock me if Umbrella said, “Yeah! We need to develop this really hard to remove parasite that’s super effect at taking over its host. If we can engineer a parasite like that? We could also develop a cure that can handle not only that more dangerous parasite, but other less dangerous parasites like it in the world!” Think about how good he is at synthesizing a treatment for Las Plagas, and how fast he whips it up despite his now limited access and tool set. It’s one of those things where it’s not until you’re on the inside, and they’re like, “Come take a look at what your work gave birth to: this is Lisa Trevor, and since it’s going well? Phase two is this: meet this Mr. X style Tyrant that we’ll be giving the parasite that’s in Lisa Trevor. It’ll be the ULTIMATE weapon: the Nemesis Project.” You can feel the blood drain from Luis’ face. + Why else would he be on the run unless he bailed? If they’d have only made those changes (emotional intelligence, acting, and writing) then I would’ve been HERE for the remake, but god they gave me EVERYthing with this remake (even things I didn’t even know I needed: now that I have stealth kill Assassins Creed style + the ability to take cover + stealth around? All the other games feel broken 💀). Back to the emotional intelligence, acting, and writing? It’s even down to the littlest things with her: God, when Ashley gets too far from you the genuine guy wrench in her voice as pipes and squeaks out, “Don’t leave me!” Legit makes me frown SEVERELY and makes me feel sad. From there forward I avoided that at all cost. Everyone is a REAL person in this, and we feel we understand them so deeply. And it shows: from being forced to protect Ashley to the remake where she’s someone we want to protect (same goes for Luis 🥹😔).

@@pearljaime2 well, it seems like they can't decide whether Leon is a blonde or a light brunette. My guess is that he has dirty blonde hair. Either way, it's very common for blonde hair to change as you grow, getting darker.

Yeah, she's supposed to be 20 in the original RE4, but she acted and looked more like she was 16 or something. Granted, I'm not one of those outrage-chasers who thinks that's automatically skeevy or problematic, god forbid when I'M certainly a woman who naturally looks and acts ten years younger than she is. But I have to say, this is an improvement, especially since they kept the "balistics." I was worried, but then I saw her without the jacket and felt a sense of relief.

If I had to sum it up as quickly as I could, I consider giving female characters in video games breast reductions (like Crystal Dynamics did to Lara Croft) to be ill-conceived attempts to un-sexualize fictional characters that instead just body shames IRL busty women. Chock it up to my history as a bisexual girl who loves big booba, has had lots of fun discussing anime/video game tiddy with guy-friends who also love big booba, and is flat-as-a-board but has coincidentally never dated a girl who wasn't smaller than a D-cup.

Resident Evil has a history of that. In RE2, Sherry's 11-13 years old but acted like a 5 year old. In the remake, the developers made her ~7 years old, less naive and adorable.

Definitely, the voice actress sounds older and overall not as annoying as the original sounded at times.

I haven't been able to play the remake yet, but my friends who've played it tell me that while she's still a damsel in distress like you expect her to be (and like she rightly should be given the plot), she's more actively helpful and more of an equal partner with Leon during this adventure. Admittedly, I'm looking forward to seeing it, since the parts where you control Ashley were some of my favorites in the original RE4.

She can still be a nuisance if you fail to command her properly. Ashley was however never a bad character and most complaints people have seem to be a reflection of one’s own skills.

Ada saved her on the Verdugo fight when she is speaking to Wesker. Have you notice why Left Hand didnt combine with Salazar? Ada also said "She's lost no matter what."

No she don't. Remember that she's currently busy dealing with Saddler during this scene. And we all knew the outcome that she got captured right? Until Leon arrive & freed her in the final fight I do however, believe that Ada is the one that left behind the map. Somehow one way or another she's able to access the lab earlier (I mean she's the one that gave Leon the lab location) so it's kinda make sense.

I think the map was Ada's but maybe she lost it or something? Then Ashley found it while trying to save Leon
