ASHLEY IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!! Blind reaction to Voiceplay - Total Eclipse of the Heart 

Both Ashley and Cesar are Puerto Rican. So yes. That was Spanish. Rob Dietz did a fantastic job arranging this. I love that they filmed this in the arcade. A real arcade. They ended their BTS video with them playing the "Running Up The Hill" pinball game. Brought back a lot of memories for me to my younger years when I spent a lot of time in arcades. Especially the pinball machines. My CB handle back then (1977-80) was Pinball Queen.

Ashley's alto entry is just glorious! The sadness in the song had never jumped out at me before. I am finally able to watch it without crying after dozens of times. Rob does a majority of the arrangements for their shorts/minis.

Rob Dietz worked doing arrangements for the Sing Off so that’s probably how they met him. He has arranged a lot of their shorts and minis from what I have seen including Wellerman. He also arranged We’re Good, Good For You and co-arranged Dream on and Sleeping in the Cold Below with Geoff. I’m sure there are others. 😊

I predict 3-5 'hand antlers', 2 "what is going on?!", and at least 1 very panicked "Nonononono!!" 🤣🤣🤣

I love when VoicePlay works with Ashley Diane, she has an amazing voice that blends so well with them.

Food for thought: three regular guests of VoicePlay have been on The Voice-Rachel, Omar and Deejay. I think Ashley will be up next. I just can’t say anything remotely bad about this one.

The beauty of them changing the lyrics to Spanish with their two fluent Spanish speakers is perfection. Having Cesar and Ashley sing this as closer to a duet with the other Voiceplay members almost as back up is such an unusual and unique arrangement choice. Rob Dietz (Deets) has arranged other songs for them but this might be the first in a long while...you can definitely feel the difference! Thank you for getting this in front of DJ, Josh! It might have taken a long time without you!

The Spanish version of this song was very popular in Puerto Rico, so they knew it well. The story line is just a beautiful addition. I hope you saw some of that. It seems unlikely. :)

This cover just makes me sigh at the end...and it's a sigh of happiness, sorrow, relating, understanding, remembering...so many emotions, in one exhalation. Wow. And nice call out on the details, DJ, as usual, you caught some stuff I missed! 💙

Cesars air hockey faces crack me up every time! Ashley’s “I told you you were going down” I don’t think that was acting I think they’ve had legit air hockey battles before 😂😂😂

I love Ashley and Cesar doing this - they both came from Puerto Rico so they came by the Spanish naturally. It's a great setting, such a fun place for becoming a couple and then the song makes it plain that the breakup is happening. Tears from me.

My best friend's mother used to sing the Spanish version of this song ALL THE TIME, until I wasn't sure which was the original. It was VERY popular in Puerto Rico when she lived there. I'm sure Cesar and Ashley must have grown up with that version.

I love that Eli is taking charge of every third video now. He filmed all the B roll shots on a handheld camera with Layne’s assistance for lighting and other things. (Layne was the hand giving up the white bear.). Although he didn’t do the arrangement, it was done according to his vision for the song. He adds a lot of emotion to his videos.

I love the original version of the song, but damn I love this Spanglish version!! And the delay in the beatboxing was a perfect choice to make. Geoff's bass drop was as always awesome, and did you know that Cesar did the costuming for this one?! This was perfection! Great reaction as always!!

When I first saw the thumbnail for this I was pretty confused because I had watched the mini that they did and they were not dressed like this. I really like it when they take the minis and extend it to a full version. Now we could just get Geoff to do that on some of his I’d be a happy person.

Ashley IS amazing. I’ve had a musical crush on her ever since If I Were a Rich Man/Girl and We Don’t Talk About Bruno.

Cesar on his own already brings such amazing emotion when he sings. Ashley and Cesar together create such a tender, wistful dynamic that makes me tear up against my will.

Knowing how Voiceplay like to do themes in there videos is this a follow on from "Running Up The Hill"? Because the 80's outfits, the 80's songs, the Stranger Things Pinball machine in the background. And Cesar and Ashley emulating Caleb and Max in the arcade?

@DJ_410 Can we just gawk at Geoff's Bass? For most of their songs, he'll keep a deep bass line with some subtle rumblings and one or two "Dragon's Breath" Subwoofer notes. For this song, though? He went "Full 80's" with this and kept his bassline constantly in "Dragon's Breath" Subwoofer Mode. Like, WTF?! Every note he sung/hummed had a deep Subwoofer rumble to it. It's impressive that Geoff sang an entire song in "Subwoofer Mode." Also, how DARE they do parts of the song in Spanish and give it to Ceasar to sing! I didn't need a "sexy" version of "Total Eclipse" thank you very much! 😝 And since you asked about Rob Dietz, go back and look at the arrangers for VoicePlay's other songs. You'll notice he pops up as a Co-Arranger on a lot of their songs. So yes, he's known them for a while and knows their voices VERY well. Although, and I don't know if it's because I'm musically inclined, but I could tell, almost immediately, that this wasn't arranged by any of VoicePlay. To the point that I had to stop, like, 30 seconds in to to see who the arranger was. As much as I would have preferred a version actually arranged by VoicePlay, I have to say that Rob did a fantastic job on this. Interestingly enough, like, a day or two before this dropped on RU-vid, I was actually thinking that it had been a while since VoicePlay sang with Ashley and that it was about time for them to do so again. I was listening to a song (can't remember which one) and was thinking that I would love to hear VoicePlay cover it and that Ashley Diane would be the perfect guest to sing lead for it. The, boom, VoicePlay was like, "Oh you want Ashley? Here you go. Oh and she's singing Total Eclipse."

Okay, I'm not sure if Straight No Chaser's cover of this song came out before this cover did. But, I can't help but feel that this group been copying SNC's covers for a while now. Anyone that thinks I'm jumping to conclusions go check out SNC's version and tell me that other than the Spanish bit and Geoff's bass that this is a identical rip. I'm about to go research which was released first . If I'm completely off mark with what I've said here I will come back and edit this comment. Edit: SNC's cover was released in 2011 and Voiceplay's was released this year from what I was initially able to find.
