She got so much criticism for having dance experience, no one really appreciated how much she accomplished doing ballroom and what a joy she and Pasha were to watch, every single week! I come back to this season often!

I think that Charles' Samba was the best samba of the series and he got tens for it! Didn't you like it or sth?

Nathan Ng Not really. IMO, sambas are always a little bit overmarked on Strictly. Charles' knees were bent throughout the entire choreography. You are supposed to strengthen them between tempos 1 and 2, 3 and 4, and so on. It's quite technical, but it's also very basic: the very best thing you're told when you learn to dance the samba. Moreover, his posture was awful: his shoulders leaned forward all the time. I struggle with my posture when I dance, however. I know how hard it is... Nevertheless, it was fun to watch. A nice show, so to speak.

The Great British public have a general culture of fairness, not necessarily hate. This really isn't anything to be apalled by. As proven, Ashley can easily win in a dance off and so get through to the finals. There are worse things going on in the world to be appalled by e.g. the crisis in Syria, deforestation to produce palm oils etc......

She is a fantastic dancer who will easily make it through to the finals of this light entertainment show. I'm sorry that I can't take it anymore seriously.

Thomas Steven but it’s more than just experience/training - she is literally famous for being a professional dancer. The Pussycat Dolls started out as a dance troupe (ie at that point she was a professional and danced for a living) they only added music when Nicole joined, even then Nicole did most of the singing and the rest of them pretty much danced and did backup vocals - she was even brought on as a judge on Dancing on Ice, to judge the contestants dance ability - that’s a very different ball game to someone who went to stage school ten years ago, for example and overall makes it an unfair competition

Cara Lee Ashley isn’t a ballroom dancer though she does Burlesque and Modern booty popping and hip hop doesn’t get you 10s in a quickstep

But the point of the show is to have a line-up of celebrities with no dance experience and then to see how much they learn and improve. Ashley was already a dancer before Strictly, she was a judge on *DANCING* On Ice ffs. It’s such an unfair advantage to the other celebs. Ashley’s chance of winning in slim to none, the public don’t like a ringer, and we saw tonight that she won’t get the votes. I can pretty much 100% promise that Stacey or Joe will win and I hope one of them does. They are the true meaning of Strictly, join the show with *NO* dance experience and improve every week which they have done.

She's labelled as a dancer on her Wikipedia, so people won't like her. That's the reason Alexandra Burke didn't win either. Something else that doesn't go in her favour, which doesn't bother me at all should I mention, is that she isn't an English citizen, so many won't want her to win a British television show.

Paige Ishimaru Sakakura Toujo That’s also the reason that Debbie McGee didn’t win. She was a former ballerina. Joe won last year because he had no dance background unlike the others.

Holly Parker In all honestly you would struggle to get a complete line up of celebs with zero dance background as a fair few have probably been to stage school of some description, but Ashley’s involvement in show takes the biscuit in bad casting decisions.

And nothing she did was worthy of being in the dance off... Lauren however, I (personally) wasn't moved by her performance much at all.. Craig said something similar... I mean for goodness sake she got 5,6,6,6... Says it all really... I love AJ as much as the next person but this isn't about him... I like them as a couple too but they should have been in the dance off.. And I'm sure they knew that, they even said they warmed up and everything!! I'll be filming my review tomorrow... Have to disagree in that she really lacked the flowing samba bounce. As you say, it was all a bit clipped and jerky - things that Danny John-Jules was lambasted for. The scores are clearly skewed based on the underlying ability of the celebrity, and as such I would have given this a 7. Probably her worst dance to date.

Anne C it was probably one of my favourite Brucie moments I applaud the professionalism from him. It was a triumph in the end tho. I called it a blunder since no one else has had a similar experience to him.

@@rebecca-hf8cj I am not against Ashley at all. I just don't think it is fair that she is in the competition considering she has a lot of dance experience. She should rather be on the American version because the standard of dancing is much higher there (a dance teacher, Cheryl Burke was on the show this year) then on the British version. No denying that she is a great dancer. Her contemporary was beautiful, but her standard of dancing and technique is so much higher than everyone else's that is puts her at a unfair advantage.

Arianeful Type "Mark and Karen Salsa". He was a cricketer who turned out the be a reasonable dancer. Don't hold your breath though, he's not an amazing dancer, but better than most of the other crap in his series. Can't really compare him to Ashley in any way, shape or form.

Did not love it. Bit spiky and stompy in places. And I agree, this song should have been kept for Mark Ramprakash alone! Slightly overmarked I feel.

Excellent Samba Rolls, some good hip action, and she really sold the performance. I would have liked to have seen much more softness in the knees and a looseness in her body (it was very 'upright'). But a good performance nonetheless.

What stood out for me that she was too harsh and clipped is the bit at the start where she's got the fan thingy behind her back. Hers is flying all over the place compared to Pasha's which was rolling gently.

Yes, not her dance this week. She looked oddly stiff, like she was confusing technique from different dances. Still excellent, of course, but she was deservedly outscored by Faye this week.

The dance off performance is definitely more modulated, Ashley. Sorry to see you there at the bottom two. You have so much more to prove as you are obviously a trained dancer so people automatically assume everything comes easy for you. But Samba is a HARD dance, and us SCD fans that love every thing SCD (and not tribal in supporting just one couple against all the rest) think that you have added so much more to the presentation of each and every dance you tackle. Keep working hard, your dedication is not lost in us!

The no ballroom experience thing is also complete BS because these are highly transferable skills. It's kinda like me* saying I wouldn't have an advantage on a Mandarin course despite having learnt languages* all my life. Completely different from the romance languages I'm used to, yes, but I'm sure I'd still pick it up way quicker and cleaner than most people. She* may not have have danced for ten years but apparently she HAS been judging other people's dancing (on American tv). I mean. I think the Jamie Oliver tweet definitely stands. (I am that person who normal*ly grumbles about people like Faye having too much dance experience - she does imo. There's always at least one stage school* kid/pop band member per year who does but I grit* my teeth and deal with it normally. This year though that's Faye. It's because Ashley is more known as a dancer. Unfair though, as the actual amount of time they've spent training and performing is quite similar I'd imagine.

@@bnanaaasbrown9529 It's extremely unfair all the haters have come out for Ashley. Faye is a professional trained dancer and her cv states that she is a professional choreographer and trained in 12 styles of dance and yet she escapes all the flack. It's a disgrace and I really feel for Ashley.

While being in the dance off shows her lack of popularity, I hope she isn't in the dance off again. She will surely win there against everyone, meaning others will get eliminated instead of her. The final DO result depends on the judges not the public vote and they'll always pick her. The only real way that she'll get eliminated is by getting to the final and then being the first one voted out when they go from 4 finalists to 3 (unless they don't do that anymore). That won't depend on the judges. But I suspect that even if they do normally go from 4 to 3, they'll not do that this year but allow all 4 to have a shot at the trophy, especially as they will want to showcase Ashley's dances for the final even if she doesn't win. But being in a dance off will never eliminate her unfortunately.

Strong Bear I stand by the fact that they shouldn’t have existing performers and dancers on the show it is completely unfair ! I suspect she will get to the final, but the public won’t vote her to win. She was in the bottom two because of the amount of votes .. not the judges score. Take Lauren and AJ for example, they get low scores by the judges but avoid the dance off because of the public’s attention towards them. I completely agree though, she won’t be eliminated in the dance off as the judges go off the dance skills not the individual where as the public go off who they like. Ashley is a very good dancer, but you can’t sit and say she deserves to win when she’s been dancing her whole entire life. It’s just unfair.

I think you can say she is clearly NOT the underdog as she is so evidently a good dancer. An underdog is someone like Joe, a dark horse who is shadowed by people like Ashley and has actually made a stand for himself and look where he is now? He is amazing! Not to say Ashley isn't amazing, because she is clearly good but I'm just saying she KNOWS she is good. Which turns veiwers off. That's why she was in the dance off. It says ALOT!

It's when a less accomplished contender goes up against a far more accomplished and experienced contender and is thought to have no chance of winning. A prime example is Graeme in the dance-off against Ashley. He had no chance of winning against her, and no-one thought he could possibly win against her either because there would be no way he could match her skills and ability. He would've been considered a classic underdog. Graeme wasn't bullied at all. But he was clearly the underdog. Other examples of an underdog are in tennis matches. If, at Wimbledon, someone ranked 100 or lower comes up against the top seed or the reigning champion, they are thought to have no chance against them. The champion is expected to beat them without any difficulty. For example, if Serena Williams goes up against a lesser-ranked player, they would be thought to have no chance against her because of her experience, ability, strength and multiple titles to her name. Now, the British public like an underdog, which is why they often root for them. So if the public start rooting for another player than Serena, especially in the finals, that doesn't suddenly make Serena the underdog and the other player the top dog. The same applies for Ashley here. She has the experience, incredible ability and no-one could beat her in a dance off. If people are cheering on the likes of Stacey and Joe, it's because they are the amateurs with no previous ability and not able to match the technical ability of Ashley, yet they've worked hard to get to where they are now to even try to compete on the same level. In other words, people are already cheering for them as underdogs, not as top dogs. And that's what these bookmakers have already taken into account when giving the odds for each celebrity actually winning. It's based on the fact that they're counting on people rooting for an underdog who does well instead of a highly accomplished dancer. They know that SCD works differently to DWTS where people would vote for the most accomplished instead. There is no bullying factor involved. That doesn't come into the equation at all as far as underdogs are concerned. You're misunderstanding the concept.

I don't think her chances are ruined at all. She could be in all the dance offs each week from now but no-one would be able to beat her in there so the result would be a foregone conclusion before she's even danced, as it was tonight. The only way she would be in actual jeopardy is if she had a really bad week and were up against someone who had a really strong week, producing an Aston Merrygold situation like last year. Otherwise it's pretty pointless for her to be in the dance off really.
