Ashlyn Harris and Ali Krieger join Sam Mewis and Lynn Williams to discuss the joys and responsibilities of being soccer icons. The pair discuss their love of New York City, the whirlwind adoption process of their daughter Sloane, the state of the NWSL, and what comes next for both them and women’s soccer.

This is one of the reasons I like Ashlyn because she seems so grounded, humble and grateful for everything she has. I just saw the Uswnt in Utah and I was a little disappointed by the lack of humbleness from 99.9% of the team with the exception of Kinsgbury, Pickett and Hatch who were the only one's to stop with the crowd to say hello. Not at any point did Morgan stop or Pinoe or even Kelley who was once a Royal and was cheered on the loudest when she subbed in since it was once her home and people have so much love for her. Not even she took a moment to stop and say hi to the crowd that showed her much love. The whole entire time I thought of Harris because although I've never seen her play nor have met her. I've only heard good things about her and her interactions with the people and how she's always the last player to leave the pitch. I got the chance to meet Sam and she took the time to say hi and took pictures after she had just won a freaking World Cup along with Mcdonald & Crystal who was very sweet. However, no one else on Tuesday's game had the same humbleness and that spoke volumes because the entire Colombian team went around the entire stadium to interact with the crowd while 70% of U.S went straight into the lockeroom and the other followed after post-warm ups. Oh well it was what it was I guess 🤷🏽‍♀️ but will say what Ashlyn said of the first impression is very true

Great interview. I especially liked the segment where Ashlyn talked about how she and Ali were finally able to live their lives openly. For far too long in this country, gay men and women had to hide behind a curtain of lies to pursue their careers. I felt like this segment was especially relevant now that the Supreme Court has put the LGBTQ community on notice that, following the Roe decision, the rights of gay men and women are in serious jeopardy. Well done ladies.

What a COMMANDING SEASON! You have definitely stepped up your broadcast content each season. Which is a normal expectation. But, this year, you were both injured, and when recording began, it was as if you were in Training Camp, and it was January ‘19! How did you respond? YOU CRUSHED IT! Show after show! Ashlyn and Ali are the OG icons of women's soccer, I hope nobody every forgets the fact that they have been the backbone of the NWSL and national team for so long and their incredible talent and wisdom. I also really appreciate what Ash said about being a good rolemodel. As a young female soccer player myself I feel like almost every profesional women's footballer that I have looked up to has also been an incredible person and with insight and kindness towards fans. TBH you can't find that in many other sports. ALSO everyone should be watching Minnesota as a possible expansion team! Their USL team has regularily been drawing more fans than NWSL teams.

Sam has humility, humor, a love for life. Funny moments are so real. Just have to wonder if she lost a desire to play again. Soccer helped to define her and the game needs her back but humor has taken its place.

@@ca2ne Canada is an investor in the Nwsl so we definitely should have teams here. Mexico was an investor but then left when they started liga mx fem so Id rather them focus on that league succeeding, rather than two leagues.

I"d be interested in them interviewing Jaelene Daniels (nee Hinkle), to see if we could get the full sense of how the locker room felt about her. Their (the team) body language toward her all these years gave the impression everything was fine....EVEN including Merrit Matthias' interaction towards Jae after she (Merritt) openly spoke about the backlash of fans over Jae being resigned. The team seems to be able to be an example of true diversity (of opinion) and gel well. But outside of hearing directly from all involved...whatever we say, is all projection.

I think a good rule of thumb for any locker room is "Don't piss off Ashlyn Harris" - she is so sweet and gentle, but you know there is a fierce mama bear in there.
