Your enthusiasm for our home town of Ashtabula , Ohio is well represented in this fun video. My late husband , myself and both daughters graduated fro ESHS, We we will be visiting in late July.(The Walleye and Wine Festival) My LA daughter is doing a quest comedy stand up in the Historic AShtabula Harbor . I am looking forward to seeing friends and experiencing many great memories.
Thank you so much for the tour of Ashtabula. I'm so homesick watching this video. My grandparents lived in Conneaut right on Lake Erie and were members of the Ashtabula Yacht Club and United States Power Squadrons. I remember spending entire summer vacations with them. Boating and swimming in Lake Erie. Going to Hil-Mak's at 5th and Lake Ave. or that restaurant that used to be a bank. Didn't go there as often, just special occasions like birthdays. Then I got to live with them for three years before I served in the Navy. Grandpa had a snowblower attachment for his John Deere riding lawn mower for all of the lake effect snow that would block the drive, cul-de-sac and our neighbors drives. I also remember an amazing Ice storm that hit in the winter of '89-'90 that knocked out the power for almost a week. I really learned to appreciate the wood burning stove I called an eye sore as a kid.
I grew up in Ashtabula during the 1970's. It was so run down. ALL of Bridge Street was so dilapidated and falling down. It looks a lot nicer now. There's a Circle K where Washington Elementary used to be. Walnut Beach was nice in the summer as was Lakeshore Park. Thanks for posting.
Just came upon your video of Ashtabula. I’m another ESHS graduate. Just had lunch with 8 of my classmates from 1969 after arriving to visit my 93 year old mom. I don’t get home often but remember my 18 years growing up in North Kingsville. Thanks for the update.

That is so cool I grew up in Ohio to about three hours away I think I move to Seattle for six months but I move back to Ohio when my dad got sick and I stayed my dad my aunt and my uncle have all died in the last three years so I really need to be here with my family

I'm so happy to see videos from my old stomping grounds. I was born and raised in Ashtabula Ohio. Graduate of the "now defunct" Ashtabula High School class of 1980, which will give you a little clue to my age . I have been living in Fayetteville NC since the late 90's when I got out of the army, and have been working as a professional magician , and in the flooring industry since. I decided to stay here , but so often have thought of moving back to my fondest memories. I love your memories and enthusiasm. I'm willing to bet our generations differ somewhat , me being a teen from the 70's. However I remember fondly that in those days ..growing up on west 50th street with all my buddies, we could leave the doors open on hot summer nights so the breeze could get through the screen doors , and we didnt have to worry about people breaking in or causing trouble. We were a close knit neighborhood back then, where each parent watched out for every ones kids and each other. It was a much different time back then I think. I like what I see in your videos so far so I will watch more. especially ones like this where I can catch up with Ashtabula today , and reminisce. By the way , one of my best buddies graduated from Edgewood .
