That’s a great way to make people feel like crap. This happened to me: job online posted: $21 to $26.38 an hour. I had 7 years of experience which was all the experience you needed; so when asked what I would like I said $24 thinking $23 would be cool. The lady interviewing me got pissed and said “no way we only hire new employees no matter what at $21 and you only have what 4 years of experience?” They wanted candidates with experience; but only wanted to pay no experience wages. She told me she was going to call me back; she never did and I never did either. They are still hiring consistently for the last 2 years for the same position.
If you guys in the States can buy houses for 5x salary you're actually doing pretty well 😂 Here in the UK the average house price is more like 8 or 9x salary!
One thing this guy ignores is inflation $100 in 1980 is equivalent to around $360 today. Just to put that out there, the reason prices are so high on the right is because you all voted in Reagan and let the corporations into Politics and they are bleeding you dry and fooling you into thinking you have it all good.
Unless you're making a product there is very little reason most jobs aren't able to be done remotely. The 2-4hrs average of extra time lost per day is ridiculous.
Just t he wealth gap g rowing even larger along with inflation. Not even going to mention that majority of the young generation dont bother saving up or think long term. This is exactly what the top 10%, and the government want from these people; to work until old age and be dependent on them.
By work harder do they mean go figure out how to manipulate loop holes in the system? Cause that's the only way I see possible for me to afford actually buying a house.
ya it was way easier back then to not only get a house but to find a decent wife. It is like he says at least 10x harder to get a house and well more like 100x harder to find a decent wife. BTW the numbers this guy did is easy clap compared to where I live in vancouver BC canada. The average house is 1.5million dollars for like a 40 year old house 2000sq ft with like only 4000-5000sqft of land.
For a family of 4 to live comfortably in Portland you need to make almost 260k a year. My husband makes 200 and we are doing okay but we can’t afford to fix up our crappy small house nor move elsewhere. No wonder we feel so behind. But I’m starting to work after being disabled for 5 years so hopefully I’ll be able to start to make enough to help us have more noticeable income. Sadly childcare is soooo expensive here - for a summer program it’s $450 a week per kid. We can only afford a few weeks of camps/childcare this summer. It’s also hard to find - only 45% availability for preschoolers and toddlers and 25% availability for infants and babies. Le sigh
Still not gonna get a house if you crying about having to work four hours. lol. Get a better job, start your own business, or move to a less developed area and buy some houses to rent.
There's undocumented immigrants in this country who own homes & came from a country where they didn't even have their own shanty shack home that they lived in, to their name. They don't even speak English & own a house.
when i first got married a few years ago, we spent about $100 a week on groceries and that was with indulgences and slightly higher quality ingredients. now we scrape by with $200 a week and thats not even enough to buy a snack or two with the food necessary for meals
The largest part of our population because of low birth rates and lack of people getting married, and having kids means that our population is mainly made up of elderly old people who already have their income and lifestyle figured out they have low debt. They have lots of value and profit. But if you’re a young kid who don’t own anything and only can create debt, but don’t make that much money there’s no chance for you. So the problem with our economy and people saying that it’s good is that we’re basing the economieshealth on the fact that we’re listening to people who aren’t really active in the economy anymore because the elderly make up the largest part of it and they’re the worst person to look at to get an idea of what our economy is like
This government doesnt represent me, or anybody i know, really. In fact, it openly says im "evil" "the source if all problems" "irredeemable" "the enemy of the nation" etc. So this aint my/our goverment, and that aint my/our debt, right? I mean, the only reason this goverment even exists is due to to, uuuum, how does it go.. "No taxation without representation"? Instead of paying and getting nothing. Ill leave and pay nothing.
So % of income in 2024 is 1.62X 1980, but house size is 1.37X and family size is 1.23X... Sqft/person is therefore 500 in 1980, and 846 now. So current houses have 1.69X the sqft per person, but houses are only 1.62X more expensive. Sounds like a deal-buy smaller houses.
Why don't you find out what the "one chicago grocery store" was and make sure it wasn't Whole Foods? You're quoting Fox News, the kings of making shit up. Come on man, do better.
I lived quite comfortably on less than $750 per month in my early 20s in like 2000/2001 ish. Before my separation last year our budget (family of 4) was pretty much exactly what yours is. And now on my own with one kid grown up and the other an older teenager my personal budget is still nearly $6K per month. It's absolutely insane..
You’re right… we are getting screwed over as our economy goes on. Sure we didn’t have it as easy as our parents and grandparents did. But what are YOU going to do about it? Are you going to settle and blame the society why you haven’t been successful? No. You grab life by it’s fucking balls and go full throttle to be where you want to be. Instead of working that same 9-5 whether it be in the banking or commercial industry, you yourself have to adapt and overcome life. That makes a human soul who they are. What lies in your mind when shit hits the fan truly shows how you react in difficult decisions.
and even with a full time job saving all the money you can to buy a house, the house prices seem to be inflating as fast if not faster than the savings.
