I remember that storm, it was pretty narly all over the western half of the state. That type of severe weather is not common for the NC mountains but as you saw, it does happen occasionally. If you ever get to come back, visit the Moog Museum downtown! And ride down to Brevard or Cashiers area for a bunch of waterfalls.
